"Why does she not get any clients?" A woman whispered while sending her bed sheets to the down stairs laundry room.
She was walking with another woman to the area they go to have their belongings washed and dried. The women stepped over the pile of laundry and laundry baskets and headed over to the section to set theirs down.
Evelyn was in the back folding sheets with another woman. The women placed their baskets down and proceeded to go back up stairs.
"It isn't fair she's not earning her keep." The woman continued to complain.
They walked back the stairs to the main floor and then proceeded to go to the madam's office. The main woman knocked on the side of the door. The madam looked up at her from the paperwork she was reading. She soon stopped and leaned back in her chair.
"What dew yew want?" The madam asked.
"Why is it the new girl doesn't get any clients? She's hardly new any more. Been here for about a couple of months already."
"Does it matter, she's not taking any of yewr clients," the madam pointed out.
The other woman began to snicker and covered her mouth with the tips of her fingers in doing so. Her friend looked back at her with a glare and the friend stopped, turning her head to the side and rocking on her heels.
The woman turned back to the madam. "How does she earn her keep?"
The madam rose from her chair and scolded the woman, sending her and her friend back to their rooms. The madam was getting too old for this. She popped her knuckles and walked to the laundry room where Elevyn was.
The stairs creeked as she descended and the smell of fresh linen and detergent swept up her nose, a smell she actually enjoyed.
The madam walked over to Elevyn, not to say anything in particular but to look over her work, but then she thought of something. The madam smacked her lips and leaned against one of the many washing machines in the basement.
"I hear there are a group of people looking for you," the madam said.
Three fairy men landed in the red light district of Caroland. They were tall with a wingspan wide as their whole bodies. Their antennas swayed in the cool breeze of the winter in this part of Canas but since they were from Faelock, this weather was nothing to them.
Together the fairies walked down the street, catching curious looks from on lockers. It was unique to see fairies in this region especially in this area. For the most part, fairies preferred to be with their own, rarely venturing out.
The three men were on a mission given to them by their clan leader, Artreus. Artreus had come to them about a year ago saying how he believed he saw his granddaughter but was unable to contact her. He had said she was with three other people, none of them were Puimo or Elevyn.
Artreus began to investigate and within a years time, he was able to find out his son had been killed. He was also able to find out his daughter in law had been taken, sold off but still being watched heavily by the lead Alpha of Apex.
Artreus didn't understand why his son was killed when he had found out but then, he also didn't understand why his son wanted to go back to Red Woods to begin with.
Puimo had the best education one could get at Hacate, plus he was an amazing student when it came to alchemy, making him one of the first fairies to have such high markings on his exams.
The three fairies began to trek up the street. They took their time using their antennas to try and see if they could spot a woman matching Elevyn's blood: witch, human, vampire.
One of the fairies slapped the other one on the shoulder and pointed to the right. The other two fairies followed after the main one. They flutter their wings, crossing the road and landing softly. They stepped inside the establishment.
A woman was behind the counter reading a book. She looked up at the handsome fairies, enamored by their colorful wings.
"Wow," she said, surely impressed. "How may I assist?"
Sous, Shadow, Tany, and Monica got out of the carriage. Sous didn't wait for the others, for she started running straight to the location of where her mother could be.
They called after her and though her ears twitched and her antennas twirled to read the various locations of magae, she wasn't able to find any that matched her own. Still, she ran past people, pushed and shoved others.
She turned a corner and bumped into a man, probably just got done getting serviced. "Tsk," she said to him, respecting very little of him after what she learned from this industry.
There! Toward the end of the street, there was the brothel, her mother was said to be in.
CHIME!
The clerk at the counter looked up when she heard the bell chime and Sous entered. She looked at Sous, seeing a man who was heaving in and out, who ran fingers through his blond hair. Her cheeks became a shade of pink, finding the man handsome.
Sous slammed her fist on the counter. "Where's my mother?"
The clerk twisted an eyebrow, unsure of what the man was asking. Mother...did he mean the madam? She placed her hands up, her palms facing outward and showing a little bit of sweat.
"WHERE IS SHE?!"
The clerk's eyes averted Sous and she quickly pressed the security alarm. Monica, Shadow, and Tany heard the alarm go off and quicken their pace.
"Fuck, Sous," Shadow moaned. The wolves would be called and him and Monica would be recognized. But Monica read his brain and took out her wand, placing a cloak around the two of them.
It was Tany who opened the door. She saw Sous practically climbing over the counter while the frighten women did her best to stay away from Sous.
Tany grabbed Sous by the collar. Monica entered into the brothel and pointed her wand in the sky, teleporting them quickly.
One of the three fairies landed in front of the city hall of Red Woods. He pushed opened the door and stepped into the building. He was intimidating to many of the wolves there and when one stepped to him, the fairy simply flapped his wings and the wolf was thrown back ten feet, landing on his back.
The fairy walked the stairs to where he knew Doureena was based off the information his antennas were telling him.
Knock, knock!
It was only polite.
Doureena opened the door and was met with a fist to the mouth.
PUNCH!
Her lip busted while she covered her mouth with her hand, blood spilling into it and onto the floor.
"Puimo is dead! And you killed him!" The fairy yelled furious.
Doureena spit out the blood onto the floor and glared at the fairy transforming slowly into her wolf form. "He was a betrayer to our pack."
"How so? It was his mother who mated with his father. His mother was the wolf. By your logic, its the mother who's the betrayer."
Doureena jumped at him, her strong hind legs kicked the fairy out of her office. The door came off the hinges. She soared to him and grabbed his neck, slamming his head into the wall, creating a hole.
The fairy slashed at Doureena's face, spilling more blood that came onto him. He attempted to slash her throat, but she grabbed his hand and broke two of his fingers.
He head butted her, knocking her off him. Doureena jumped onto the walls crawling on them on all fours trying to get herself some distance between him and her.
The fairy followed after her, flying through the hall, their strength almost similar to one another. This was also Doureena's first fight with a fairy. He was a lot stronger than she thought they could be. The fact she had to actually transform into her wolf self just to fight him said a lot.
Doureena landed outside on to the grass sliding backwards as she did. She placed her arms up in an 'x' upon the fairy throwing a punch down on her, blocking it.
They glared into one another. Her canines showing while his fangs gleamed at her. The two of them jumped back from one another.
"We have Evelyn," the fairy said. "How dare you kill the son of a high ranking official of Faelock, our clan leader. This is war, wolf!"
And with a swiftness she didn't expect, his wings created a powerful gust and he flew into the sky upward, slowly disappearing from sight.
