Chapter 130 - The Brothels Arc: Four

Tany snatched the wand from the man's hand and continued to smash his face into the brick wall. She didn't understand why she was so pissed but she was pissed.

Icarus sounded off in the sky, alerting her that others have heard the commotion and the authorities were on their way.

"Tsk," she said and gave the man one last kicked to the stomach. She watched him belly over before running off.

While running, she heard the low growls and sniffs of figures chasing after her. She didn't have to look up to know wolves were chasing after her.

She dodged in between people and got back onto the crowded streets. She slowed her run to a slight jog and then a walk, keeping her head down low.

Tany felt their eyes still on her, watching her. She didn't understand why they coming after her. It was him who stole her wand and she had to fight just to get it back.

She dodged into another alley where she saw a white moving truck parked. She opened the back hatchet and without even looking, she jumped into the back, closing down the door.

She sighed. Hiding out here for a while might allow her to by some time or even get the wolves off her trail.

Tany heard some scuffle and turned around to see a group of dozens of people ranging from girls, boys, men, and women in the far back of the truck.

They looked at her with beady eyes and hallowed cheeks, dirty clothes and filthy bodies.

"What the-"

The truck door opened and Tany was pulled from the truck by her collar. She was slammed to the ground and kicked. Two wolves picked her up and held her arms tight while an Alpha walked to her in the back alley. Her eyes became wide when she saw her.

Zhiliary walked to Tany, of course not knowing Tany wasn't a man wearing a cloak.

She patted the man down, finding the wand. She pulled it out and examined it.

Sous sat on a chair in the meeting spot that they agreed upon when they first had split up. Her legs were spread with her leaning forward, her elbows resting on her knees.

Shadow walked toward her, but he paused for a moment when he saw just how sorrowful she looked. How she looked so beaten, something he had never seen before with Sous in her regular form.

Maybe it was because she was an adult in this form and what she's seen and experienced had caught up with her.

He walked to her and sat down beside her on the bench. "Did you eat?"

Sous nodded her head.

"Find anything?"

Sous shook her head. She lifted her head up and leaned back against the table on the bench. Honestly, she wasn't prepared for what she had seen. She had paid for the freedom of six children.

"I-" Sous started, her eyes starting to swell and her words caught in her throat. Shadow looked at her, curious. "I...don't have any money." She sniffed and wiped her tears away before Shadow got a glance. Sous was too slow though, for he he'd seen the clear orbs beginning to form.

Shadow scooted over to her, putting his arm around her shoulders. "You have such a kind spirit, Sous."

Monica ran up to them. "Where's Tany?"

Sous looked up at the hybrid. Shadow stood up as well and the three looked around, not seeing the witch at all.

"What should we do?" Sous asked.

Monica placed the tip of the wand in front of her and used it like a microphone. "Tany?" She called. The tip of the wand lighted up, Shadow and Sous exchanged looks and watched to see if Tany would answer her.

Monica waited a few more seconds and then she tried again. This time she made her voice more sincere, more in desperation.

"Tany!"

"Tany?" Zhiliary asked, looking at the light flashing on the wand. The woman's voice on the other hand sounded familiar. "What are you, a witch?"

Tany laughed. "Witches are females, wizards are males and I," she twisted her eyebrow and coughed. "Awe yes, I am obviously a male...a dude. Yep!"

Zhiliary raised an eyebrow. She handed the wand back to Tany. "We saw what happened back there. Be careful. This area can be pretty sketchy."

Tany nodded her head, placing the wand back in her pocket. She stepped forward to proceed onward when Zhiliary called out back to her. Tany turned around, a bit nervous. Maybe Zhiliary caught something.

"Where are you from?" The Alpha asked. She walked to Tany and stood her ground, with her hands on her hips. "You speak Atin so that leaves one of two countries. Canas or Nadia."

"Nadia..."

Zhiliary looked at the authority figures that stood behind her. "Who are the most powerful witches in that country?"

Tany didn't know how to answer this without giving away suspicion. "I don't know."

"If you have a wand then you know," Zhiliary said. She crossed her arms at Tany, waiting for the reply.

Tany licked her lips, feeling the sweat begin to form under her underarms.

The tip of the wand lighted up. "Babbbyy, where are yyewwww. Yew know I miss yew. I just really want yewww!"

Tany's eyebrow begin to twitch when Monica's horrible impression came over through the wand. Zhiliary's face was also flushed with red and she stepped away.

The Alpha coughed in her hand. "Sorry for the questions, enjoy your night."

Zhiliary and the authorities jumped up onto the roof of the back alley buildings and continued their surveillance of the district.

Tany ran to Shadow, Monica, and Sous. She bent downward, heaving in and out. She sat on the bench where Sous once was.

"Thanks, Monica."

She smiled at the girl and placed her wand away. "Did you find anything?"

Sous, Shadow, Monica, and Tany were sitting in a carriage on their way to Caroland. Tany had discovered Sous' mom was said to have been sold there and that there is a stipend being paid to the madam.

Tany also informed them they were wanting to sell Sous' mom to a warlord in exchange for land within Canas.

"What is your mom's name?" Tany asked. They were still within Monica's cloaking spell since they were going from one red light district to the next.

"Evelyn," Sous answered.

"Where is she from?"

"Red Woods...I don't know where her parents are from. I never met them," Sous exclaimed.

The carriage had taken them all the way to the red light district, a journey that took five hours but would have been just one if they had taken a car.

They got out the carriage and exchange looks with one another. They spoke of where they would meet back up and this time, they would be going in pairs to make it easy to communicate with one another.
