Chapter 93 - The Vampires of Grim Arc: Two

Sous awoke in the snow covering her like a blanket. She wasn't sure just how long she had been out but she got up, and extracted her claws. She ran along side the train on all fours and broke into a cart. She landed in the aisle, sliding on the blood. Her jaw clenched at the amount of blood she saw.

The laughter from the hysterical vampire echoed through the cart. Sous looked up to see the same vampire that threw her out the window was now standing before her with the biggest grin on his face.

He held a keg on his shoulder with one of his legs propped up on the seat. Sous saw blood leaking from the keg.

"Awee shit, you're still alive?"

Sous charged at the vampire but he dispersed into a dozen of bats, swirling around Sous. Sous landed on all fours and swatted at the bats. All the while she heard his laughter mocking her.

"AAAAHHH, SHUT UP!" She yelled, grabbing one of the bats and squeezing it so tight, it burst in her hands, spilling blood all over her.

The vampire appeared once more all whole. "Ow, that hurt." He laughed.

Sous charged at him once more, this time she took out her wand. When he dispersed into a dozen bats again, Sous casted out a spell. "Repara!"

The vampire came back together again. She kneed him into the face, black blood spilt from his nose onto the ground. He covered his nose and glared at Sous. Sous took hold of his shirt and twisted her hip. She placed her foot in between his legs and threw him onto the other side of her.

Spit escaped his mouth as he landed on his back with a force to knock a regular human out.

"I wish I broke your back!" Sous yelled at the vampire. She jumped back to give him some space, twirling her wand in her hand.

He got to his feet. Walking to the keg that escaped his grasp, he lifted it back on his shoulder. "Why do you care about these humans? You don't even live here. I can tell by your stupid accent. Go back to Canas!"

The vampire threw the keg into the air and struck at Sous. His punches were fast, but she dodged them. She titled her head, bent her knees, and when she found another opening, she twisted around him, and performed a ground kick by aiming at his knee. She heard a crack and the vampire yelled out. She flipped onto her legs and jumped to perform a flying round house kick.

The vampire flew to the window, breaking it.

CLASH!

More snow and wind entered into the stagnet train, freezing the blood that was on the ground, and making it slippery for them.

Sous jumped on top of one of the seats. She pointed her wand at the vampire. "Impellere!" A charge surged at the vampire. He was knocked back toward the train wall.

Sous ran to the keg and threw it out one of the train windows.

"NOOO!" The vampire lundged at Sous and both of them flew out the window onto the snow.

The vampire clawed at Sous even tried to bite her. He was on top of her and pulled her by the collar.

"YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID? THAT WAS FOR A CLIENT!"

"Like I give two shits."

The vampire headed butted Sous, breaking her nose. Blood poured onto the snow. He punched her in the eye, instantly bruising it.

Sous flung her legs upward and downward toward her chest. She closed in on his arm using an arm bar technique she saw the upper classmen perform at sparring practice.

The vampire got to his two feet trying to get his arm out of the arm bar.

CRACK!

He screamed out. Faye had kicked his arm, breaking it, and slid to the side. She ran back toward the vampire and Sous and took out her needles from her palms.

Faye jumped into the air and sliced down on the vampire's neck. His head fell off and rolled just a few inches away from Sous. She laid there in the snow, eye to eye with him.

Sous got to her feet and the two of them saw for the first time just how stuck they were. The train was completely off the rails. Some carts were turned over, some were bent, and the train was long too.

They hadn't any idea of just how many people were on the train, just how many were dead even.

"How's Tany?" Sous asked, breathing hard, trying to catch her breath.

"I don't know. Its been a couple of hours since I saw her."

"A couple of hours? Is that how long I've been out?"

"What do you mean?"

Sous shook her head not wanting to get into it. "What about Little Poop?" Sous asked.

Faye nudged her glasses back on her face and took out a handkerchief to blow her nose. The weather was making her nose run more than usual. "I haven't seen her either."

"We're dealing with vampires but I don't know how many."

"They want the human blood. Its worth a fortune on the black market," Faye explained. "And a train full of em, they hit the jack pot."

Both girls jumped into a cart, breaking the window. It was the same cart Sous and the vampire were thrown from.

The girls stood back to back from one another. Faye faced toward the back of the train with her needles out, ready to go and Sous faced toward the conductor's lair with her wand out and ready to go.

No words were exchanged. They were off. Sous ran down the cart and opened the door to the next one. Nothing but dead humans.

"Tsk!" She growled running down the cart to the next one.

A bandit was in one cart attempting to steal from the dead when Faye ran into the cart. With a swift motion, she swiped at the man's hand. His hand fell on the ground. He screamed out, looking up at Faye with tears in his eyes.

"Don't make me cut the other one off," she said as she started to run off, leaving the man to scream out in hysteria. She smirked on her way to the next cart.

Sous opened the door to the next cart and was instantly hit in the head. She fell backwards on her back and saw the human man with his baseball bat.

She rolled her eyes. "Fuck, I thought I put y'all to sleep."

Sous looked over his leg and saw many of the humans were dead, not all but some in this particular cart.

One woman screamed out as she held her decapitated baby who was missing its head.

Sous looked up at the man and saw he was crying and shaking. He dropped the bat and fell on his knees. He held his head in his hands.

"I'm sorry...I thought you were one of them."

Sous sat there for a moment. She got up and took the bat. She placed it back in the man's hands.

"The night has only begun," she said to man, seeing him gulp in fear. "Just hold on."

Sous ran past the man and the remaining humans that were alive and ran to the next cart. Same thing, dead humans and blood all around.

"FUCK!!"

She ran to the next cart-

"Stop!"

Sous put her hands up and saw Tany pointing her wand at her. She stepped from the darkness and squinted at Sous.

"Sous?"

Sous nodded her head, some sweat rolling down her cheek since Tany had the ability to kill instantly.

Tany ran to Sous and hugged her tight. Sous was startled at first but leaned into her hug, smelling her hair and neck.

"I thought you were dead. You were gone for so long." Tany touched Sous' face. "You're so cold." She hugged Sous once more.

Sous stepped back and looked Tany up and down. She was like Sous, covered in blood.

"Vampires?"

Tany nodded her head to Sous' question.

"Do you know how many vampires there are?"

Tany nodded her head. "I conducted a surveyor spell and there are eight, well, seven. One of them disappeared." She saw Sous smirk.

"Faye killed him but you know, I beat his ass."

"Oh really?" Tany smiled getting close to Sous who shook her head. "Wait...are we flirting? I think we're flirting."

Both girls stepped back from each other with bright red faces.

"I should, uh-"

"Yeah-"

"Um-"

"Yep."

"Go-

"Yeah-"

A nurse entered into the infirmary to check on Makala's vitals. She was still covered in bandages, but her breathing was normal and stable.

The nurse shook her head, documenting the notes for the day. This was becoming common lately for her: domestic violence amongst friends or lovers.

The kids were just different these days.

The nurse walked over to another nurse who was checking on another patient. "Do we know what happened to that vampire's assaulter?"

The nurse looked up and then at Makala. She turned back to the other nurse. "He was suspended and charges filed. I heard he'll be going to the Dragon Lair for hard labor. Its a fitting punishment, I say for what he did to that poor girl. Hmm hmm, she was just minding her own business supporting our sparring team." She shook her head, so disappointed with the situation. "Let's hope one of the dragons eat him, get rid of the vermin."

The other nurse nodded her head in agreement.
