The vampire with his short white slicked back hair, walked toward the train conductor. The conductor was tied to his chair and sweating underneath the clothes he wore to stay warm.
Down in the boiler room, another vampire pulled the cords and wires out of the fuse box. He laughed hysterically, waving his fingers through his medium length black hair. "Hmm hmm, good." He dispersed into a dozen bats and flew back up the steps from the boiling room.
The lights on the train went out, leaving every one in total darkness. Sous, Faye, Tany, and Little Poop all looked up from what they were doing. The humans began to moan and groan, becoming louder with their unhappiness by the second.
"What is going on?" One woman asked. "Are we gonna be here all day?"
"Yeah," another man shouted. "We have appointments to get to."
At this time babies began to cry and children began to complain about the temperature. Since the electricity was off that meant the heater was off.
Sous breathed out, seeing the whiteness of her breath. The three girls and rodent began to see just how dire the situation was. Sous directed her next question to Tany. "Do you have any heat spells for Little Poop? We are going to hit well below twenty soon."
"If you know any, you might want to do it for the whole train," Faye said.
Tany got up and stood up in the middle of the aisle. She pointed her wand in the air. From the outside to within, a red glazed took over the train. A barrier Tany was able to put over the train. She looked at her friends.
"This will last for about twelve hours."
"What happens after that?" Sous asked Tany.
"I have to do it again." Tany answered.
There were about eight vampires in total. They dragged the conductor to his back office and slammed him on the ground. When the assistant came to the train and saw the vampires, he screamed. When he tried to run away, one of the female vampires grabbed him by the arm and broke it. The human screamed out. Laughing, the female vampire sunk her fangs into the neck of the human, sucking his blood.
The human collapsed to the ground with the female vampire continuing to suck from him. His skin began to wrinkle and his cheeks began to sink in as all of his blood was being drained.
One of the male vampires turned to the female. "Seriously, you're gonna drink the whole gallon?"
She didn't come up for air, she didn't say yes but her fangs were still in his neck, and his slow declined let her friends know, she was going to drink every drop of him.
The conductor tried to shake the vampires off but they laughed at him, kicked him in the stomach and head.
The lead vampire squated down to be at the conductor's level. He played with the conductor's tie. He pulled on it and wrapped it around the conductor. Choking him while he pulled on it.
A dozen bats soared into the room transforming into the hysterical vampire who was down in the boiler. "Its getting cold, boss!" He laughed once, blowing out air on purpose just to see the whiteness, the moisture turning into crystals.
The lead vampire slapped the hysterical one. "You dummy, not for long. You didn't sense that spell being traced over the train?"
The female vampire stood up and wiped her lips, blood getting on the back of her hand. "There are magae here?" She asked. "I thought only humans would be on this train?"
The lead vampire stood up and sighed. "I guess not. Let's eat and then get to work. We have clients that are making high bids for human blood."
"Maybe we should be grateful," said another vampire with dark red hair. "If the temperatures had gotten too low then many of them would have died."
The lead vampire nodded his head in agreement. The seven vampires got on the ground and each took a bite of the conductor. Unable to scream out because he was gagged, he shook his head violently. The female vampire watched on, smiling while she leaned on the wall.
Back in the carts, the ladies were waiting patiently for the train to start back up. The humans having become restless and tired at the same time, continued to question why the situation wasn't improving.
"No one has checked on us." Tany said.
"The last time that man came was about an hour or two ago," Faye exclaimed. "And they haven't even announced anything. They left us in the dark, literally."
"Maybe...maybe we should check it out." Sous suggested. "I can head to the front where the conductor should be."
"I'll go to the back to see if I can find that man."
Faye and Sous looked at Tany. "I'll stay here with the Princess and I'll walk up and down the carts to see if anyone needs help." Tany said.
Sous and Faye exchanged looks and got up out of their seats. Faye went toward the back of the train while Sous headed for the front. She opened the door to the next cart and saw the carts weren't connected via train but only a metal bar underneath. Sous was taken aback they were on such an old timing train versus the more modern ones.
She jumped across and opened the other door and walked in. The humans inside the cart looked at her, visibly disappointed to see a kid.
"What are you doing walking from cart to cart?" A man asked.
"I'm trying to see what's going on with the conductor. Why we ain't moving."
"You're not even from here," another chimed in. "You're speaking Atin with a native accent. What do you know?"
"Look at her!" A woman pointed. "She's not even human."
The other humans got quiet and looked at Sous. Humans could be weary and cautious of anything that was different from them. Their fear of the unknown and their ignorance and self entitlement was what motivated their endeavors regarding technology.
The man bent down and pulled out a baseball bat. He positioned it, ready to attack.
"Tsk," Sous stepped back with her hands up. "Listen, I just want to get to the conductor."
"Nah, you ain't coming anywhere near us, you little magae. We can't trust your kind."
"Please, just let me get through." When Sous reached out her hand, the man swung the baseball bat at her fingers. Sous hunched over in pain, screaming out about her fingers.
"She's just a child, don't be so rough," the woman cried out, worried.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's one of them. Don't let her being a child fool you."
Sous stood up and went back to the door she came from. She jumped back to her side of the cart.
"What happened?" Tany asked putting a hand on Sous' shoulder. She noticed Sous was holding onto her fingers with the other hand. She took a look and saw they were purple. "Sous!"
"What's happening?" One of the humans yelled.
"Nothing, nothing, its fine." Tany lied just to keep calm. Her focus returned on Sous. "I never realized how scary humans can be." Tany whispered. "They get frantic about everything. They become paranoid so quickly and all reason leaves them. Its frightening how dangerous they become."
"That's exactly what happened when I tried to get through the cart to get to the conductor. They didn't like I was a magae and attacked me."
Tany wrapped her hands around Sous' wounded fingers. She took her wand and called out the healing spell aquasenere. In just a matter of moments, Sous was feeling better. She stood up straight and looked toward the door of the cart.
"Thanks," she said to Tany. She opened the door and took out her wand. It was time to try out those new spells she had been studying for and learning in class. Sous opened the door to the other carts. The humans saw her once more and stood their ground. The man with the bat came forward once more.
Sous held her wand forward and yelled, "Obdormi!" The tip of her wand lighted up and a slow mist began to spill out from it, rising toward the cieling. The humans stepped back and even tried to run from it including the man with the bat. They couldn't out run the spell and each of them in the cart began to fall asleep.
She took a breath, looking about to make sure no one was stirring when she began to step over them. She managed to reach the door on the other side and opened it. The wind was much stronger now, she was barely able to keep steady when she jumped to the next cart.
Sous opened the door and a vampire grabbed her, and pulled her inside. Sous fell onto the floor but quickly got up. She placed her hand on something to help her up but her hand became moist and warm. She looked down and saw her hand was on a dead human. She looked around, they were all dead, blood everywhere; it decorated the entire cart!
When she took a step, she slipped on some blood. Before she could fall, the vampire grabbed her by the shirt collar. He screamed in her face laughing hysterically. Blood all over his mouth and hands.
"AAAAAHHHHHH, I FOUND THE MAGAE, I FOUND THE MAGAE! WE DON'T NEED YOU ON THIS TRAIN, GIRLIE!" With his strength, he picked Sous up and threw out one of the windows.
"AAAHH!" Sous screamed. Cold air hit her body as she soared out the window. The wind pushed her toward the back of the train. She reached out to try and take ahold of something, but she was just going to fast. She finally managed to grab on to a pole but she slipped, causing her to jolt upward. The wind pushed her onto the top of the train where she landed roughly into the snow.
