Chapter 87 - The Sparring Club Arc: Three

Sous climbed the steps to the fifth floor where she was told Tany was in the transformation ward by some cohorts. She walked slowly down the hall passed students who were just getting out of class or who even had detention. A sweat drop came over Sous' brow. She knew that feeling. She recently had gotten detention when she threw a pupil over her shoulder during dinner when he had stolen her chicken wing. Judo was coming in handy after all.

She entered into the classroom and saw Tany speaking with an instructor. When Sous read the desk she saw the Instructor's name was Instructor Jackson, a witch. They were conversing with their wands out pointed at a desk where Little Poop was sitting. They noticed Sous was present and turned to face her.

"Sous?"

Sous smiled. She stayed where she was though so as to not interrupt.

"Sous? Its nice to formally meet you," Instructor Jackson said. "It seems I'll be having you as a student next semester. I heard your spell casting was...let's just say, decent."

A nervous laugh came from Sous. The Instructor was right and with sparring practice, she barely had time to practice spell casting beyond the classroom.

"You do know I'm the Instructor for the dueling club? If you want to make the team then I suggest upping your game." Sous nodded her head at the instructor's statement. She wore a nice gown that was the color black. Her hair was in a pony tail and she wore light makeup. She actually appeared rather young but her teaching methods said otherwise. Her focus went back on Tany. "Let's have a break, deary."

"Hey, Little Poop," Sous waved walking over to them while Instructor left the room. "How's it coming?" Since finding out Little Poop used to be human, Tany had been working on getting her back to her human state since the summer. Sous wasn't so sure just how far she had come with it.

"We're on a time crunch," she sighed. She placed her wand behind her ear and sat on the edge of the desk. "Rats only live about one to three years. She's on her second year. We don't have a lot of time left." She twisted her body to look at Little Poop who just sat there watching the two girls. "I was able to turn her back to human but its not permanent."

"Wait so...you can turn her?"

Tany nodded her head and took her wand from her ear. "If I could just figure out the type of spell-" It was like a lightbulb went off in her head. She looked at Sous. "You know alchemy?!"

"Yeah," Sous responded with a flare of cockiness. "And I'm rather damn good at it too."

Tany jumped off the desk and used her wand. "Inseipsamtransformare!" Tany shouted, a spell that literally meant to change into one's self.

A bright pink light with rose petals and leaves filled the air along with a aroma of flowers and herbs. Petun stood before them in her elegant princess attire. Her hair falling down over her shoulders and to her back. The train of her dress landing softly on the ground. She was gorgeous!

"Whoa!"

"Ask her about the potion."

Sous tried to but she was tongue tied. She just witnessed her first transformation spell in which a fattie, fat fat rat turned into an elegant beautiful woman.

Slap!

Tany slapped Sous over the head to knock her out of whatever trance she was in. "Ask her about the potion!"

"Alright, alright!" Sous walked up to Petun. "You speak Atin?"

"Yes."

"Tell me about the potion you drank. It was a potion, right?"

Petun nodded her head. She looked over at a chair and walked over to it. Sitting down in a way that allowed her to be comfortable with the dress she wore.

"I don't know," the princess finally spoke. "It was a pink, purple color."

"Pink, purple transformation." Sous said aloud. Sous went to a desk. "You got some paper?" Tany handed her some from pulling out of her own notebook along with a quill. "Protein synthesis is what you're looking at. Its a enzyme that creates new proteins from MRNA. At least in mammals."

"So the potion was made with rat MRNA?"

"Exactly. Once the princess drunk it, protein synthesis occurred. It altered her MRNA. A spell is only temporary. You're gonna need to create a potion." Sous wrote all of this information down.

"So easy fix then?" Tany asked.

"Kind of...see, you need her MRNA to create a potion. Her MRNA is a rat. This right here." Sous waved her hand around Petun. "This is just an illusion."

"So then how do we get her MRNA?"

"We have to get something that has her skin cells on it. Skin cells contain the code. With that, we can create a new protein synthesis potion." Sous looked up at the ceiling. "Wait, why am I saying 'we'?"

Tany grabbed onto Sous' arm interlocking them. "You know whhhyyy?"

Sous moaned and rolled her eyes. She pulled away from Tany. "I don't know. I gotta a lot of practice with Judo. I really wanna win this match. If I win, Ill move on to tai chi."

"Whats after tai chi?"

"Wing chun! And I'm really excited about that."

Tany sighed, looking over at Petun who watched them inquisitively. "Where are you from, Princess?"

"Why I'm from Conaska."

Sous left the room satisfied that Little Poop would be back to her human self. Even though Sous was focusing mostly on judo, she was sure she could find a way to help out Tany. But Sous didn't know any transportation spells but Faye did.

Sous' ears twitched. She could hear a couple of voices speaking in the hallway. She dipped out of the way and behind a pillar. When she looked over, she saw Makala and Faye interacting with one another.

"Faye, he feels bad about it," Makala said, keeping her voice soft.

"I don't feel bad about what I did."

"Don't say that."

Faye turned head away toward Sous' direction. Sous made sure to duck just in time before peeking over.

"This is why I said no to you. That boy is crazy. Just wait, he'll do something else and this time it will be onto you. You shouldn't play around with people like that. People who are pocessive."

"Pixies are like that." Makala shrugged, making light of the comment. Faye only shook her head and Sous had to agree with Faye. She hadn't spoken to Pixie Boy in a while, not since his talk with Jacob. She simply didn't have time. Hopefully her friends could figure it out on their own.

Sous turned to leave and pumped into Jacob right in the hall, bumping heads. Jacob immediately dropped all of his books while Sous landed hard on the ground, rubbing her head.

Faye and Makala instantly stopped talking and ran over to see what the commotion was about.

"Sous!" Faye smacked her lips. "You heard us talking, didn't you?"

Sous helped Jacob pick up his books and then faced Faye. "I'm just gonna mind my business on this one."

"What happened when you spoke to him, Jacob?" Faye asked.

Jacob flushed a bit being put on the spot like he was. He cleared his throat and proceeded to steady his books under his arms. "He said he was sorry. That he really wanted to go out with Makala. That he knew her longer. That you came out of no where and took her. He felt jilted."

Faye smacked her lips again. "This is too much drama," Sous said, exhausted. So this was how teenagers were? Just fighting over who they wanted to be with. Sous was already feeling more emotional and competitive, plus thinking about Kara more often than usual. She hoped she wouldn't end up like this when she turned fourteen. crazy?

"C'est fou, ça..." Faye said under her breath. "Sous, we gotta get to practice."

Leaving a bit awkwardly from the interaction, Sous ran to catch up to Faye to the sparring fields.
