Chapter 88 - The Sparring Club Arc: Four

"Sous, do you mind staying after class?"

Sous turned around from washing her test tubes in the classroom sink of Achelmy 2. "Sure," she answered back. She dried her hands and walked back to her seat, and finished listening to her professor lecture prior to dismissing class. Staying behind though probably meant she was going to be late for Herbology 2 since it was all the way across campus over in the gardens and green houses.

Once all the students left the class and it was just Sous, she got up and walked over to the front desk and sat down in the seat.

Instructor Pickle was his name. He fumbled around with some his paperwork and even scratched, and pulled at his beard. His hair was red and he had green eyes. He looked at Sous and then clapped his hands once. Instructor Pickle sat his items to the side and got up from his desk, walking toward Sous with his arms behind his back.

"Professor Jackson told me you were helping Tany with a little pet project. Literally." He chuckled. A high pitched chuckle that would seem odd coming from a man like him. Still, Sous nodded her head, keeping the interaction short and quick so she could get to her next class.

Professor Pickle leaned on the desk beside Sous, but it moved out from under him, making him trip over a bit. Sous held in her laughter by making a funny face that puckered out her lips in the number 3.

He cleared his throat and rubbed down his robe to make sure he still was decent presenting. "Well." He said and this time instead of leaning on the desk, he sat down in it besides Sous. "I also heard you took classes next to Clarence."

The vampire patriach although it wasn't really classes per se but more of them trying to fend off wolves from Apex.

"Yeah and he used to be a teacher here too. I didn't realize he was so old." Sous exclaimed.

"Yes, vampire patriarchs can get rather old," he said. "Nevertheless, Clarence is known very well in the alchemy world so you working along side him tells me you're very good but then again, Sous, you have the highest marks in your entire second year class." Sous stared blankly at him wanting him to get to the point. She about practically waved at him with her hand if she could. "Sous, how about joining the alchemy team and competing with us?"

"Hmm," her eyebrows twisted and Professor Pickle could already see the tale tell signs of a 'no'.

He scooted his desk closer to her. "Sous, your talent and knowledge of alchemy will get us into the finals and even championships. You know what this would mean for me-I mean you? You'll be able to get an internship or apprenticeship at most alchemy businesses in and around Nadia. You could make so much!"

"Hmm." Sous responded.

Professor Pickle tapped the desk. "I know you're apart of the sparring club and you're focusing on that right now, but after practice, come by the club. Its here in this classroom. Hope to see you there."

Sous had her claws extracted and ran along side the building like a spider. She was twenty minutes late listening to Professor Pickle invite her to the alchemy club. It wasn't something she could do. In two days, she had her judo match and depending on how she did, she would begin training right away in tai chi.

She landed on all fours on the soft greenery below. The herbology classes took place in a section that looked like a little forest. There were trees and plants that Sous had never seen before until coming to Hacate. There was one plant in particular said to be from the east that was simply beautiful: wisteria.

Sous composed herself and did her best to not breathe so heavily given how fast she had to haul ass to get here.

She walked into the greenhouse and took a seat next to Zan. He was surprised to see her late since Sous was known as having perfect attendance. She may be a bit of a mishap and loved to fight, but she was actually a good student that took well to learning.

Professor Connor, a woman with thick long dirty blonde hair that looked like it was made of clouds, and with a nose the kids often made fun of, pretended like she didn't see Sous enter, but during class, she walked up to Sous and placed a sticky note on her notepad she was using to write.

DETENTION!

"Tsk," Sous sighed and smacked her lips. She was doing so well too since throwing that one classmate over her shoulder. Hey! Good students got detention every now and then.

"Sous, do you mind staying after class?"

"AAAHHHHHHH!" Sous held onto her desk and shook herself violently in her seat. "I'mma be late to my next class!"

"You should have thought about that before being late to my class," she retorted back.

A flash came over Sous as her eyes turned completely into white circles and her mouth dropped. A vein popped out on her forehead. "It was Pickle. It was Pickle. He did it!"

Zan smiled the whole time during the altercation and when Sous lost the battle, the Omega patted her on the back. "There, there," he said. "There, there."

Sous stayed after class as Professor Conner stood beside her desk with all its plants and glory. She had her arms crossed staring at Sous. Neither were impressed with the other at that moment.

"Do you know why you have detention?"

"What kind of stupid question is that? I was late!"

"Then report here after school."

"That's it? You could have sent me this in an email!"

"SOUS!"

Sous' legs were like jelly as her bones became liquid and she could barely hold herself up after sparring practice. Because she was late, Instructor Song made her run ten laps around the field which was equivalent to two miles. She had to run, on her two legs. She couldn't use her claws, couldn't use her wolf abilities, nope, she had to run...like a human.

She fell onto the grass. This was it. This was how she was going to die. As her friends looked on amused, Instructor Song came to her and dragged her by the collar. Like she was some type of criminal and to them, she was...because she was late.

Frederick came up to Sous as Instructor Song plopped her down on the benches on the outside of the fields. He laughed and took his wand out. "If ya like, I can transport ya to your next destination."

Frederick was a fifth year so that meant he knew how to teleport things. Sous eagerly nodded her head up and down. He laughed once more.

Sous fell on top of a desk as she landed in the alchemy class. "Awee, my neck. My back..." she moaned getting up.

She looked up to see other students looking at her. They seemed to be pleased to see her as well with Professor Pickle.

"Sous," he clapped his hands. "So glad you could join us. Here, here, take a seat. Just watch for the day and see if you find it something you'd want to join."

Sous was more than happy to sit down as her body was aching even more now. She looked around the class as Professor Pickle spoke and she saw Pixie Boy toward the back of the room. Sous squinted to see if it was him and it was. She got up and walked over to him.

"I didn't know you were apart of the alchemy club." He jumped when he heard her voice, almost dropping a test tube but Sous caught it. She handed it back to him.

Professor Pickle walked up to them and patted Pixie Boy on the shoulder. "Daniel, here just joined us recently." Sous looked from the professor to Pixie Boy.

"Oh," he had never shown interest in alchemy before. He never mentioned it when Sous and the others spoke of it. "What-what got you into it?" She asked.

He shrugged a bit, suddenly unable to talk. His eyes diverted themselves away from Sous and she saw him take glances at Pickle. She found that to be odd. Pixie Boy was normally confident in himself.

"You're apart of the flying club." Sous said.

"Yeah um, dat not until next semester. I be bored all this semester."

Sous looked at the numerous bottles and tubes on his desk. Professor Pickle patted Pixie Boy on the shoulder once more and wished them fun. He walked off and on que, placed his arms behind his back as he went from student to student, group to group.

One of the ingredients that Sous recognized was vitamin A through means of rentinyl palmitate. It consisted of 36 carbons, 60 hydrogens, and 2 oxygen.

"What are you making?" Sous asked.

"Nothing."

They stood there in silence for a while. When she figured he wasn't going to say anything else on the matter, she spoke once more. "You're making a substance that has a reaction under UV lighting." Sous said matter of factly.

Pixie Boy stepped closer to Sous and he whispered, "Mind yer business, Sous."

Sous glared at him, appalled by his words and actions. Still, she slowly stepped away and went back to her seat. She pretended to watch the class but all the while, she was truly watching Pixie Boy.
