Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: Madness

"Amazing! That move altered the entire battlefield... easily S-rank or higher!" Brock exclaimed, astonished by Tyranitar's skill. Even Cynthia, standing nearby, was rendered speechless.

"Tyranitar, Stone Fist!" Ash commanded, his eyes flashing with determination as he saw Tyranitar's movements slow from the swampy terrain.

Tyranitar's arm became encased in thick layers of jagged stone. Just from the look of it, the sheer force behind that punch was no joke.

"Raaahh!" Despite the swamp dragging at its feet, Tyranitar launched forward using Shave—a footwork technique that exploded forward through rapid bursts of movement. Though the swamp slowed it down, the move's core mechanics relied on momentum and forceful footwork. As long as it had solid footing, Tyranitar could still pull it off—even if the terrain wasn't ideal.

"No... If that lands, Alakazam won't be able to continue fighting!" Sabrina muttered, panic flashing across her face.

"Evolve—now, Alakazam!" Just as Tyranitar's stone-coated fist was about to strike, Sabrina swiftly pulled out a shimmering silver spoon from her jacket and tossed it toward her Alakazam.

The moment the spoon reached Alakazam's hand, a white light enveloped its body. Seeing the sudden transformation, Tyranitar paused mid-attack, and even Ash raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected Sabrina to have such a powerful hidden trump card.

In less than three seconds, the light faded. Alakazam had completed its evolution—now dual-wielding silver spoons and bearing the usual pronounced mustache, it radiated the calm yet imposing presence of a true psychic master.

After evolving, the Elite-level Alakazam immediately soared to pseudo-Champion strength. With Sabrina boosting it again using her psychic powers, its level surged straight into Champion-class—just like before. But this time, it would last much longer—easily twenty minutes or more.

"I didn't think you had a card like that up your sleeve," Ash said with a smirk. "Looks like I underestimated you."

"I told you," Sabrina said firmly, her expression resolute, "I've spent years preparing for this match. I won't lose!"

There were two paths to evolving an Alakazam. The first was through natural growth, increasing mental strength slowly through meditation and rest. It was stable—but slow.

The second method involved Sabrina's silver spoon. She had acquired it years ago and infused it with her psychic energy over time. That kind of spiritual imprinting was nearly impossible—even for most psychics. But Sabrina, the so-called Queen of Superpowers, had done it. The spoon alone held immense psychic force.

Now, with both spoons in hand, Alakazam's aura surged again. Its piercing blue gaze locked onto Tyranitar, power intensifying with each passing second.

"Tyraaa!" Tyranitar bellowed in response, locking eyes with its opponent. Despite the overwhelming psychic presence, Tyranitar refused to back down. Its fierce and offensive nature mirrored Ash's own spirit—aggressive and relentless.

"Alakazam, Psybeam!"

Seizing the opportunity, Sabrina launched the attack. Alakazam crossed its spoons in front of its chest, and a multicolored beam of light burst forth, speeding straight at Tyranitar.

Psybeam—a move that can inflict confusion, and is notoriously difficult to dodge due to its speed and tracking.

"Earth Wall!" Ash remained composed, arms crossed confidently. Behind him, Cynthia watched in silence, her usually calm expression showing a flicker of admiration.

"Bang!" At Ash's command, Tyranitar stomped hard. A wall of earth rose up instantly in front of it, absorbing the full force of the Psybeam. Though it didn't do direct damage, its goal had been clear: disorient the opponent.

"Don't let up! Alakazam, Future Sight!" Sabrina shouted, her momentum unbroken. Alakazam's eyes began to glow with an eerie blue light—its body becoming partially translucent.

Ash's eyes narrowed. Future Sight. A high-level psychic technique that enables the user to sense the opponent's next move. If successful, Alakazam would automatically dodge Tyranitar's next attack by teleporting in advance.

"Power alone won't break that kind of prediction," Ash muttered to himself. "We'll need a large-scale move to disrupt it."

"Tyranitar, Avalanche Breaker!"

With a deep roar, Tyranitar slammed both fists into the battlefield. The ground trembled violently as massive cracks spidered out from the impact. The entire Saffron Gym shook from the force of the move.

As the ground quaked beneath them, chunks of rock were launched into the air, scattering in all directions.

Caught in the midst of the debris, Alakazam was forced to teleport again—but the direction of the falling rubble was so chaotic, even Tyranitar couldn't fully control it. One chunk slammed into Alakazam's shoulder.

"Alakazam!" Sabrina cried out, heart pounding, as her partner flinched in pain. Though the damage wasn't devastating, it clearly disrupted Alakazam's rhythm. Tyranitar, on the other hand, remained steady—its thick hide easily shrugging off the smaller debris.

"Now, Hyper Beam! Finish it!" Ash didn't hesitate, capitalizing on the opening.

"Boom!!!" A vibrant orange-red light surged in Tyranitar's mouth before blasting forward with overwhelming force. The beam tore across the battlefield like a tidal wave, everything in its path turning to rubble. The destructive power of the Hyper Beam left a scorched line in the ground as it thundered toward Alakazam.

"Alakazam!!" Sabrina shouted in horror as her partner was engulfed by the light. Her voice cracked, and tears slipped from her eyes before she realized it.

Over the years, that Alakazam had been her closest companion. She had raised it herself, ever since it was still an egg—long before it evolved, long before her Gym Leader title. To Sabrina, this Alakazam was not just a partner; it was family. Even Ash didn't know this side of her.

Alakazam had always understood Sabrina's feelings—especially the ones she never said aloud. It knew she liked Ash. She had trained relentlessly for this day, honing her psychic abilities while quietly talking about Ash to Alakazam during their meditation. She had wanted to win—not just to prove herself, but to win his recognition.

But now... she was losing. And worse, Alakazam was falling in battle.

A wild gleam flashed in Alakazam's eyes. Through the smoke and residual energy of the Hyper Beam, its silhouette still stood.

"No way..." Ash's eyes narrowed, voice low.

Alakazam let out a sharp cry and flung both silver spoons into the air. At that moment, an immense psychic surge erupted outward, blanketing the battlefield in a wave of overwhelming mental pressure.

"Is it... risking everything?" Ash's expression changed. He could feel it—this surge of energy wasn't just powerful. It was dangerously unstable. This wasn't Champion-level psychic strength anymore.

It was beyond that.

The pressure flooding the battlefield was no longer something a typical Pokémon could produce. It had reached a level that could rival even the weaker Legendary Pokémon—a level that approached the bottom tier of third-class Legendary beings.
