An alarm started ringing, so I got up.
"I fell asleep..."
I checked the time — it was 5 AM.
"This is the time that morning training field opens, but I have no idea where it is."
I looked at the notebook and started reading it again, hoping to find the code.
I spent hours searching again until I finally figured it out.
[Reaper827]
The laptop and smartwatch began loading until it finished.
[Complete]
[Welcome, Reaper]
"...That's it?"
It had taken me four hours to find the code — and that was all.
I accessed Violet Banquet from the smartwatch and tried logging in.
It worked.
There were all kinds of things: people talking in a strange forum about Cube and who would be the top students, others complaining that most cadets were just zygotes with no grasp of the real world — all sorts of things like that.
Then I saw a message pop up.
Looks like you were able to log in.
"Who is this?"
Congratulations. Your last job was perfect. I hope you keep it up. The payment has already been sent. Your next job will come after you settle into Cube.
And then, nothing else.
"Job? Payment?"
I remembered Violet Banquet was a place where you could take on requests and get paid instantly.
I checked the linked bank account inside Violet Banquet and saw a balance of $250,000.
Seeing that amount almost made me choke on my own spit.
"That's almost the entire debt Kim Hajin has in Cube… What kind of jobs did he do to earn this? Did he invest in something, or was this all from jobs?"
I shut the laptop and turned off the smartwatch, then threw myself onto the bed.
"I should explore Cube before Monday so I don't get lost, and get some food so I'm not always stuck eating in the cafeteria."
The bed was really comfortable, and I was starting to feel sleepy again, but I forced myself up. Being in Cube meant things would only get harder, and if I didn't train, I'd fall behind fast.
"I wish I knew what Gift I have and how to fight properly."
I got out of bed, grabbed the sword, and tried swinging it a few times — but it felt heavy, and it was obvious I had no idea how to use it.
"Maybe I should've picked an axe. At least it's kind of like chopping wood."
I tried swinging the sword again, but this time it just froze in the air. I couldn't move it.
"What the hell?"
I tried again, but nothing happened. I let go, and it just stayed floating.
"...Why is it floating?"
Then, a large screen appeared in front of me.
<<
<<>>
I didn't understand why those letters appeared in front of me.
<<
<<
<<
When I saw the word "died," my knees nearly buckled.
<<
"A Gift…?"
<<
Suddenly, everything went dark, and two options appeared before me.
==========
→ Lucien Cross's Gift: Wind Emperor
Can control wind to increase speed and enhance attack power.
→ Custom Gift: Create a Gift without restrictions
==========
On my left, I could see Lucien through the translucent text. On my right, there was only a question mark behind the custom option.
Lucien Cross's talent didn't sound bad at all — and it explained how he reached rank 200 in the military academy. But his potential felt limited compared to others. Even with a guide, it probably wouldn't be enough later on.
The ability to create a Gift was incredibly tempting. It could be anything. If I chose wisely, I could become very powerful — but I had to be extremely careful with my choice.
"What happens to Lucien's Gift if I make a new one? Won't people notice if it suddenly changes?"
<<
"No one will suspect anything..."
I looked at my hand and remembered when I first read this web novel.
I fell in love with it instantly, binge-reading until late at night... until I reached the part with Chae Jinyoon.
Chae Nayun's older brother — who was injured and turned into a Devil's Seed host.
When Kim Hajin discovered this, he prepared himself to kill Jinyoon, since he doubted Kim Suho could defeat him at that point in the story.
Everything might've been fine — if it weren't for how close Hajin got to Chae Nayun. She eventually fell in love with him… and then, when Hajin killed her brother, it all shattered.
Hajin dirtied his hands by killing someone he cared about. Chae Nayun was left with deep trauma — not only for losing her beloved brother but also for discovering that the man she loved was the one who killed him.
"I never liked that part… the way that relationship ended really hurt me. I want to change that — and I can't do it with Lucien Cross's Gift."
"I need something powerful enough to save Chae Jinyoon… and if I can't save him, then I need the power to kill him. If I'm the one who does it, Hajin and Nayun's relationship won't be destroyed like in the original story. She'll seek revenge against me, not him."
Oddly enough, I didn't feel bad saying that. It felt strange, but even my hands didn't tremble.
"I guess dying once makes you a little less sensitive."
Then I thought, "What kind of power could either save or defeat Chae Jinyoon?" Only one came to mind.
The power of a being capable of doing whatever it takes to become stronger.
A being with the ability to do everything it needed.
<<
"I want a Gift identical to Vergil's power."
<<
"Yes. It's the only way to accomplish everything."

To those reading the fanfic, what do you think about having Vergil's power?
Do you see it as something out of place? Do you not like it?
Give me your opinion — if you like it, or if you have a better idea, feel free to share it.
I can always change it, since the fanfic is just getting started, so there's still room to adjust things.
