Chapter 69 - Chapter 68 - Summer Solstice (IV)

Demigods were invited to participate in the Summer Solstice, which made the usually empty Olympus quite lively and full of vitality. Perhaps this was the reason for inviting the demigods to the celebration.

Camp Half-Blood was almost empty because of this, which gave Godwyn a great opportunity.

"Robin, go ahead, I have some unfinished business to deal with someone," Godwyn said with a smile, though his smile was somewhat cold.

Thalia looked at Godwyn confused but didn't ask and left with Annabeth. "I'll be waiting on the floor below Olympus," she said, then led Annabeth towards the Empire State Building.

Godwyn didn't care and walked towards the Big House, which served as Camp Half-Blood's administrative building. He entered the house and went upstairs to the attic and opened the door; a smell of decomposition, death, and decay hit his face.

Godwyn's golden eyes stared at the Oracle of Delphi with a smile. Approaching the body that was dead but with a living mind, he said with an amused tone, "Who would have thought that the lord of the underworld is creative in punishments."

"You know why I came, Oracle of Delphi," Godwyn asked as he manifested his spear. Not only the spear, but also the crystallization of death was embedded in the spear.

"You cannot escape fate, son of Odin, no matter how much you kill or massacre, even if you bathe Olympus in divine blood, fate will not change." The Oracle's hoarse, frightening, and cold voice sounded, but it did not change Godwyn's expression.

"Who said I'm killing you, filthy things, to escape my fate? I'm killing you and the goddesses of fate merely because I don't like being manipulated, and I'm certainly killing just for the satisfaction of making the arrogant expressions of these goddesses of fate turn horrified," Godwyn said with a cold tone. He hated the goddesses of fate; these women who caused fear in everything and everyone did not cause fear in him.

"You will be cursed for killing the goddesses." The Oracle, despite being about to die, still advised Godwyn in a gentler tone. In her state, she had wanted to die for a long time after being cursed by Hades.

Although she was protected by the power of Delphi, Hades could curse her. Hades then stated that as long as his children remained rejected and he was forced to work under his Great Prophecy, the Oracle's spirit would never pass to another host. Even after death, the spirit would never move on and would continue to speak prophecies until her body crumbled into nothing but dust.

And so it was, even after her body died, the power of Delphi was never passed to another Oracle, which caused great consequences in this world. Luke's mother, who was supposed to be the next Oracle, went mad without the protection of Delphi's Power, which indirectly led the demigod to resent the gods and ally with Kronos.

Fate really liked to play with people like puppets in a puppet show.

"You don't need to tell me; I know perfectly well, but I don't care. Unlike gods who fear death, I am death. I don't take being embraced by what makes me; I would just accept my death." Godwyn said with a calm tone. He really didn't care about being cursed by the Norns and the Fates.

He even preferred it that way; he wanted to hear the curses of these women, tones of despair, anger, and humiliation. Godwyn truly hated these goddesses to the point of really humiliating them without any hesitation.

Looking at the Oracle of Delphi, Godwyn didn't hesitate to thrust his spear into the chest of the decaying corpse. The light in the Oracle's eyes shone for a moment; there was a touch of relief and pleasure in her eyes. She finally felt the gentle embrace of death.

However, she soon discovered something terrible. Not only her body truly died at that moment, but her soul was also collapsing!

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" A shrill scream full of horror and despair sounded in the Big House. The Oracle of Delphi had never predicted that Godwyn's power would be so terrifying. Dying and going to the Underworld and dying and completely disappearing were two totally different concepts.

"It seems you didn't foresee this; I imagine these goddesses of fate didn't either." Godwyn smiled, seeing the horror in the Oracle of Delphi's eyes. He not only killed the body but the soul and wanted even more, directly destroying Delphi. Unfortunately, Delphi's power was cunning and had already escaped faster than someone owing money to a loan shark.

The Oracle of Delphi's body simply disintegrated into small black particles, disappearing forever from this world. Her soul didn't even enter the underworld, showing how terrifying Godwyn's power was.

Looking at the chair, which was now empty, Godwyn left a playing card with the symbol of the Golden Order on top of the chair and left.

When Godwyn had left, a centaur quickly opened the door where the Oracle was; he found the Oracle's chair empty with only a playing card.

When Chiron was about to approach and investigate something, he noticed a tanned, golden-haired man appearing next to the chair. He recognized the Sun God, Apollo.

At that moment, the sun god's face was somber, as if clouds covered the sun. He looked at where the Oracle had previously been with a solemn, murderous expression and surprising coldness.

He knew that the Oracle of Delphi had been cursed by his uncle, preventing the woman from truly dying, but at this moment, the Oracle truly died, and the Oracle's soul, which should belong to Apollo, was nowhere to be found!

Picking up the playing card in his hand, Apollo's eyes narrowed, seeing the unknown symbol, but it was the name that caught his attention.

"Golden Order." Apollo whispered with a confused tone. He looked at Chiron, remembering that the centaur was much older than him; the sun god handed him the playing card.

"The assassins are so arrogant that they left a card assuming the act was theirs," Apollo said with a tone full of anger. This was a great humiliation against him; they killed the being who adored him and even left a card, pointing out who ordered the crime.

"I don't recognize the symbol, but the Golden Order is a philosophy created by humans. It is the ultimate symbol of reciprocity, the maxim of reciprocity according to which one should treat others as we would like to be treated by them ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you")" Chiron said with a grave and solemn tone.

"HAHAHAHA!!!!" Apollo guffawed, hearing Chiron's words; the Sun God's expression showed the pure fury of the world. The result of this was that New York had its hottest summer in a hundred years! The sun seemed to want to destroy everything and everyone.

It was obvious that his enemies were watching him from the shadows. Who was it? Other sun gods and goddesses? However, invading the pantheon as a foreign god would weaken the power of the gods.

If a sun god invaded Greece, he could never use his power, as there was only one concept of the sun per pantheon. So, in Greek territory, Apollo could suppress any other sun god or goddess.

"Perhaps the target is not you, Lord Apollo," Chiron said with a deep tone, making the sun god's golden eyes stare at the centaur.

"I think whoever killed the Oracle was aiming at the Fates." As soon as Chiron said this, Apollo's face paled. He couldn't imagine that anyone would actually dare to conspire against the Fates, the goddesses of destiny, beings that even Zeus feared to the extreme.

"They have offended many gods and goddesses over hundreds of thousands of years," Chiron said with a solemn tone. "Even previous generations of the kings of the gods hated the Fates."

Apollo calmed down and was relieved that he was not the target of a being who would actually dare to fight against the goddesses of destiny themselves. He really didn't want to fight someone like that; this type of god was the most terrifying, as he no longer feared anything.

"I will inform my father," Apollo said before disappearing in a white light, leaving Chiron alone, holding the playing card with a thoughtful look.

Camp Half-Blood had been invaded; Chiron couldn't help but think of the suspects and remembered the two demigods he had met earlier. Was it a coincidence or his paranoia?
