Chapter 67 - Chapter 66 - Summer Solstice (II)

"Usually, newcomers meet the camp director, Mr. D, but as he is busy with other matters, that is no longer possible." Chiron said with a solemn look. Dionysus was not at Camp for many good reasons; he was quite a tempting target for other gods. Although he was one of the Olympians, he was not strong in combat.

At that moment, the God of Wine and Revelry was on Olympus helping to manage the gods' abode so that there would be no problems at this time, especially with the Summer Solstice, which would happen today.

Godwyn's eyes narrowed for a moment, but he showed no interest in meeting the God of alcoholics. Although if Dionysus were at Camp, he would definitely kill the Greek God. This was a powerful god, even if he wasn't truly powerful compared to gods of the same caliber.

After all, there were differences between gods who had divine positions suitable for battle and gods who had divine positions suitable for aid. Dionysus was the latter option and was very useful in anything that wasn't combat.

"Since your divine parents have not claimed you, you will be in Cabin Hermes." Not sensing any divine aura in the boy and girl, Chiron said with a slightly sad tone, but soon regained his composure. The situation of both demigods was more common than anyone could imagine.

Gods and goddesses, especially the Greek ones, do not care about the offspring they have with mortals; in the eyes of these gods, there was no point in loving someone destined to die. Anyway, it was just a mortal child, and they could have another.

Chiron introduced the Camp as the three walked side by side. Thalia was bored, as she had already been through this process, but Godwyn looked at everything around with curiosity. He had to admit, Zeus was really stingy for giving such a small space for demigods to live.

Yes, very small. For Godwyn, Camp Half-Blood was too small for so many demigods, along with the races that lived in that place, it made things even smaller than it usually was.

Although the place was very beautiful, the strawberry fields were especially beautiful with a pleasant smell. Godwyn presumed they were being nurtured by Dionysus himself, as strawberries were not grown at this time of year.

"I'll leave you here; someone will help you settle into Cabin Hermes." Chiron said with a smile, although the girl hadn't shown any interest in the camp, he liked to see the boy's curious and bright eyes.

That said, the son of the god of time quickly disappeared from the sight of both disguised gods.

"Your uncle is a good god." Godwyn commented, looking at Chiron's back; he could see that the centaur truly loved his work, teaching the next generation had always been a sacred duty, something Chiron did with love and responsibility.

Unfortunately, in this world where the gods don't care, a teacher's duty cannot really do much. After all, who would want twelve-year-olds to go on such dangerous quests besides selfish gods?

"Unfortunately, he has no power to change anything." Thalia said with a calm tone, her eyes showed electrifying rays. More and more she learned that the gods were not good, but she wanted to change that. Call it a foolish and naive dream of an innocent girl, but she wanted to at least try.

She might regret not being able to achieve her dream, but she would never regret not fighting for her dream.

"Let's go see our little owl." Godwyn said with a smile; he could see that Thalia was maturing extremely fast, not physically, but mentally; the girl was calmer, kinder, but equally powerful, fierce, and gothic.

"She must be training." Thalia said, remembering the place where Annabeth trained every day. Taking Godwyn's hand, she pulled him and walked through the camp while dodging other demigods.

When Godwyn and Thalia found Annabeth, the girl was wearing shorts below her knees and an orange shirt. She wielded a wooden Gladius, hitting the straw scarecrows with such intensity that it seemed she held some resentment against the training objects.

"She's doing well, using her hips properly, which increases her strength." Seeing the hardworking and strong-willed girl, Godwyn commented with a smile. Training wasn't for everyone; if they could, who would want to waste time training? So, the first step, which was training, was the hardest in the eyes of many people.

"Of course, she's the smartest little owl we have." Thalia said with a laugh, watching Annabeth with a gentle look. Because of Jason's disappearance, she had always taken care of Annabeth.

Thinking of something, Thalia's face became slightly sad. "Do you think she'll join us?" Unlike her, who didn't care about her father or mother, Annabeth was a child who truly loved her father and mother. She didn't have the courage to make Annabeth choose between her own family and the Golden Order.

"Everyone has to make their own choices; we can't do that for her." Godwyn replied with a gentler tone. Although he also wanted Annabeth to come to his Pantheon, he also knew that the girl had a family, and depriving her of that because he wanted it was more than cruel.

Thalia nodded and without waiting for Godwyn, approached Annabeth with a mischievous and teasing look. Being a goddess, Annabeth could never have sensed her arrival.

Arriving behind Annabeth, Thalia whispered in her ear, "BOO!"

"AAAHHHHH!!!" Annabeth, who was deeply training, let out a startled scream at the voice in her ear and almost jumped in the air. She quickly moved away and turned to find a girl she had never seen in her life.

"Who are you?" Annabeth asked with a threatening expression as she gritted her teeth in anger. She hated scares; she hated even more those who didn't know how to respect people's personal space.

"It seems the little owl has grown claws after almost two years." Thalia put her hands behind her back and circled Annabeth; there was a happy smile on her lips. She quite liked the girl's threatening look.

Annabeth pursed her lips, hearing the familiar nickname; suddenly, her eyes widened as she finally noticed the extremely familiar tone coming from the girl's voice. Looking at the girl's figure, the almost nine-year-old girl's eyes filled with tears.

"By the way, nice to meet you, my name is Robin." Thalia said with a smile, noticing the girl's expression, but as she didn't want to spoil her and Godwyn's plans, she spoke her false name.

Annabeth wiped the tears from her face and nodded, but her eyes were still red, and she hugged Thalia tightly.

"Tell me if anyone bullied you; I'll avenge you." Holding the girl, Thalia said with a surprisingly gentle tone. She couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl; they were family, but she had to leave Annabeth at Camp Half-Blood for the girl's safety.

Thalia thought that perhaps this was the adulthood that all adults spoke of with such despair. Adults always had to sacrifice something to gain something. Only children had the privilege of being naive.

"No one bullied me, but there's an annoying girl; she's just brains full of muscle and thinks she's the queen of the world." Annabeth said, remembering Clarisse. Ares' daughter was especially annoying, a typical bully who intimidated others because of her size and strength.

Annabeth, who was hugging Thalia, raised her head and looked at her friend with whom she had shared life and death in many battles, with a bright look. Her eyes wandered around, looking for a certain familiar male figure, but found nothing, which made the sparkle in the girl's eyes fade slightly.

Noticing this, Thalia rolled her eyes and said with a jealous tone. "It seems you only care about the Golden Boy."

Annabeth rolled her eyes and smiled; by Thalia's reaction, she knew Godwyn had also arrived.

"No need to look for me, little owl." Godwyn appeared behind Annabeth and stroked her head with a smile. "You've grown bigger, but stay away from boys; they are evil." He warned with a solemn tone, making Thalia and Annabeth laugh.

"I missed you guys." Annabeth said with a slightly tearful tone; she really missed Thalia and Godwyn, especially with Luke's change in recent years. Her friend had become distant, and although he smiled at her, she could tell it was a polite smile, no longer gentle as it once was.

"Tell me what happened in these almost two years." Annabeth said, putting aside her thoughts about Luke.
