Chapter 66 - Chapter 65 - Summer Solstice (I)

Seeing all the deities leaving the bar, Thalia sat down in one of the chairs and let out a long, tired sigh. "Standing before such powerful goddesses is stressful; you never know if they're going to attack you."

"That shows we are weak before them." Godwyn sat next to Thalia and said in a calm tone. "This feeling of wanting to be equal to them shows that you have ambition, and ambition is what always drives the human race."

Resting her head on her hand, Thalia looked at Godwyn with a smile and spoke in a peaceful, even gentle tone. "Godwyn, I've been thinking about something since I became a goddess."

"Do I, you, and all the gods really make any difference in this universe? We are gods, but we have no purpose beyond existing." She said, looking into Godwyn's golden eyes with a lost gaze.

Godwyn couldn't help but be surprised by Thalia's words; he, who enjoyed the universe through his eyes, couldn't help but remain silent.

Do the existences of gods really make any difference in this world? From what Godwyn felt, they really did nothing. On the contrary, when a god was angry, they could influence the outside world, causing destruction and natural disasters.

"Without the gods, humans would still be the same humans, regardless of anything." After a moment of silence, Godwyn replied in a calm tone, but his eyes were brighter than ever.

"You are right, Thalia." Godwyn affirmed. "But we are managers in a large company called the universe. We protect this universe as guardians."

"Protect the universe from what exactly?" Thalia couldn't help but ask with a curious expression. Since becoming a goddess, she really hadn't seen any purpose beyond fighting and surviving among the pantheons.

"I don't know either, but the gods were born in response to something, be it the fear in the unconscious sea of the human race or some danger outside the universe." Godwyn spoke in a deep tone; he had also thought of something similar, but had found no answer so far.

He only hoped it was the fears of humans; otherwise, he had no idea what could make the Great Will create gods to protect the universe. He also didn't want to know if it was necessary. Sleeping without worries was something everyone enjoyed; Godwyn was no different.

"Godwyn, let's become more than any deity; I really want a world where my immortal life isn't just living." Others probably wanted freedom, but Thalia wanted the opposite; living this kind of boring life was worse than killing her.

A mischievous smile appeared on Godwyn's lips; he looked at Thalia and said in a tone full of amusement. "I thought of something that will drive all the Pantheons crazy."

"How about blowing the mist into true oblivion, let humans finally see the true face of this world." As soon as Godwyn's words sounded, Mimir's and Thalia's eyes widened to the extreme.

"You're spending too much time with Loki." Thalia said, but Godwyn saw her eyes sparkle with his idea, obviously interested.

He could imagine the chaos it would cause; humans would finally see gods, monsters, and creatures of the most diverse types and mythologies. Godwyn could even imagine the grim faces of Zeus and other King Gods or Divine Queens around the world.

"Godwyn, there's a reason the Mist exists; humans generally don't deal well with the presence of gods." Mimir had to speak in a helpless tone. Godwyn was becoming increasingly uncontrollable.

Godwyn looked at Mimir and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in doubt. "Humans and gods have always coexisted in this world. I see no problem in returning to ancient times." He said in a calm tone.

"Those were humans of old; current humans are different; science and reason are completely different from two thousand years ago. What do you think they will do when they find out that gods exist and that these gods are immortal?" Mimir asked in a calm tone.

Godwyn didn't need to think much to know that it would be complete chaos, especially for the powerful humans who controlled entire countries. Who doesn't want to be immortal and immensely powerful?

He could even imagine these men and women trying to buy immortality from the gods with money and gold. This was something extremely arrogant in the eyes of the gods, but in the eyes of modern humans, everything has a price.

To gain power and immortality, true wars would be fought; millions would die without a doubt. It might seem that Godwyn was exaggerating in his reasoning, but never underestimate human arrogance and selfishness.

However, Godwyn could also see good things; the gods could finally help the world as true gods and not just hedonistic and sex-crazed beings. Imagine doctors possessing Apollo's blessing, imagine Aphrodite's blessings on women and men, imagine a civilization where gods are the center of civilization.

The more he thought about it, the faster Godwyn felt his heart beat. Of course, for something like this to happen, the gods would have to set aside their pride and finally work with humans. However, everyone knows that this was almost an impossible task. What god would stoop to bless humans daily?

"I'm just kidding; how could I end the Mist?" Godwyn said in an amused tone, hiding the bold and crazy idea in his mind. However, the idea was deeply rooted in his heart. He really wanted to see a world where human and divine civilization joined together in something very special.

Thalia believed Godwyn's words, but Mimir looked at Godwyn with a skeptical gaze; he felt that his king was not joking when he spoke of making the mist disappear. However, as an advisor, his role was to advise, not to force Godwyn to accept his proposals.

"Thalia, when the Summer Solstice arrives, let's go to Camp Half-Blood to visit our little owl." Godwyn changed the subject, making Thalia's eyes sparkle with an excited look. She really missed Annabeth.

"We have to bring some gifts, or the girl will probably want to fight me." Thalia said with an amused laugh.

Godwyn nodded and showed an equally amused smile. He could really imagine Annabeth looking furiously at him; the girl was really too proud to admit something she didn't want anyone to know.

June 21 (Greek Summer Solstice).

Camp Half-Blood.

Two young people walked side by side in the traditional Camp Half-Blood clothes, a glaring orange shirt.

"You really don't suit other colors." Godwyn commented with a laugh, observing Thalia dressed in the orange clothes of Camp Half-Blood.

"This shirt is so ugly, who made it?" Thalia couldn't help but say as she looked at the Camp with a curious gaze. After a year and six months, the place was still the same, although with an undeniably tense atmosphere.

After all, a war was happening at that moment, and it would be no surprise if Demigods got involved in this war.

"But they really didn't notice anything." Thalia commented, seeing that no one seemed to care about two unknown teenagers walking among them.

"Robin (Thalia), you underestimate the number of demigods that the gods generate every year, especially the Greek gods." Godwyn said with a touch of sarcasm. You can criticize anything about the Greek gods, but their ability to have sons and daughters was undeniable.

Thalia remained silent, listening to Godwyn's words; she felt that the gods and goddesses were extremely irresponsible for bringing children into the world whom they didn't even want to raise. It was cruel to the child and to the parents.

This made her uncomfortable, but it only made her more determined that when Godwyn created the Pantheon, she would never let such things happen. The gods had to take responsibility for their own actions.

"And who are you?" Godwyn and Thalia heard a deep, masculine voice; both already knew who they were and began to act as planned. They looked at the horse-man before them with an incredulous, but admiring look.

"Horse-man." Thalia whispered, but Chiron heard perfectly; he couldn't help but correct the girl in a graver tone. "I am a Centaur, miss."

"Sorry, it's the first time I've seen someone like that." Thalia showed an embarrassed expression and said in a lower tone than usual, acting like a girl who had just said something wrong in front of a crowd.

Chiron's hard and severe gaze softened; he could see that both demigods before him were genuinely surprised by his appearance, which was not really surprising, given that it wasn't every day one saw a Centaur.

"Where is the Satyr who accompanied you to the camp?" Chiron asked, seeing that no satyr was accompanying the children before him.

Thalia and Godwyn showed a sad and somber expression, but remained silent, listening to Chiron's question.

Chiron didn't need to be a genius to know what happened to the satyr who accompanied the children. He was obviously dead, which was not uncommon.
