Chapter 38 - Chapter 37 - Fimbulwinter (II)

"Known to the dwarves as Niðavellir, their home kingdom offers experiences that are sure to satisfy any vacation craving. Love exploring caves? Svartalfheim is full of mines perfect for exploring. Is mountaineering your thing? Hop on a hydro train and enjoy the view. Prefer a stiff drink? The capital's taverns are just a boat ride away." Mimir explained Svartalfheim with a smile as he enjoyed the warmth of the Dwarf Kingdoms.

Although, he also noticed that there was a coldness gradually creeping into the planet. Thalia was like a tourist seeing a big city for the first time. Everything was new to her eyes, from the sand on the ground to the water. Her reaction made Godwyn laugh and he found it incredibly adorable.

Perhaps noticing that her behavior didn't match her personality and appearance, Thalia pretended to be indifferent to everything around her, but Godwyn still noticed her looking at everything in a much more discreet way.

"But this place used to be full of life." Mimir commented in a calm tone, looking at the place devoid of beings from all Nine Worlds.

"Svartalfheim was put on lockdown five hundred years ago and most of the dwarves were forced to work for the Father of All." Godwyn said, looking at the empty dwarven village.

"I assume they were forced to make the weapons of war on the Asgard Wall?" Mimir asked with a calm tone.

"That's right, the Wall is so well equipped that it would make the Border between North and South Korea look like a children's playground." Godwyn replied with a helpless tone. Seeing thousands of giant cannons on top of the walls was intimidating for any army.

One of the reasons that Ragnarok had been postponed until now, even though everyone hated Odin, was because Asgard was strong, strong to the point of being suffocating for the other eight worlds.

Without a key figure to lead everyone's armies, it was impossible for them to win the war. Fortunately, even Odin didn't dare start a full-scale war either, forcing everyone to fight back.

Of course, Odin took advantage and weakened the Aesir's main enemies, the Jotuns and the Vanir. These two races have suffered at Odin's hands, especially the Jotuns, who were almost exterminated by Thor hundreds of years ago.

Apart from Loki and a few Jotuns, there were no more Jotuns left alive.

A sigh escaped Mimir's lips, he felt very guilty listening to Godwyn's words, he knew more than anyone that Odin had used the plans he had drawn up to enslave the Dwarves and many other people. It could be said that he was responsible for at least half of the bad things that happened in the Nine Worlds.

A sad look reflected on Mimir's aged face.

Thalia, who was silently listening to their conversation, had a clear image of the man who was Godwyn's father. A monster among monsters, a truly cruel and cold tyrant. She regretted that she and Godwyn had similar fathers.

"Where are we going to find the dwarves you mentioned?" Thalia said, easing the tension in the air.

"We'll simply use the tools they created themselves to find them." Godwyn said, holding up the necklace that had changed his appearance.

"Find their creators." Godwyn whispered to the bird skull. Surprisingly, the bird's beak pointed in a certain direction.

"Let's find the most important dwarves of the Nine Kingdoms." He said to Thalia, who looked curious and full of anticipation for the dwarves.

"Don't get too excited about seeing Brok, he's..." Noticing her expression, Godwyn said with a strange expression, not knowing how to classify the blue dwarf's moody personality.

"Kind in his own way." In the end, Godwyn added with a laugh, remembering the dwarf, who cursed every five words.

Godwyn's words only made Thalia even more eager to meet the dwarf; she could tell that he was someone interesting just by the look on the Golden Boy's face.

While a boy and a girl walked through the beautiful landscapes of Svartalfheim, enjoying everything the planet could offer. A bestial, inhuman roar sounded, alarming both teenagers.

Godwyn looked at the undead with a surprised look. "Is that a Draugr!?" He exclaimed, looking at the creature that had once been human.

The reason for Godwyn's surprise was that Draugar didn't usually appear outside Midgard, so seeing one in Svartalfheim was something he hadn't expected.

"Probably from human warriors killed in that realm." Mimir said, looking at the Draugr with a certain curiosity. The living dead man was bluer than he should have been and his icy aura showed that he had been reanimated by Fimbulwinter.

Godwyn nodded and looked at Thalia with a smile. "The Draugar are warriors who died on the battlefield, who didn't go to Valhala. If there's a Draugr around, it means treasures, because they guard their own tombs with treasures."

Thalia's eyes lit up at Godwyn's words, she manifested the celestial bronze spear and attacked the Draugr without delay.

Draugr and Thalia began their confrontation without any hesitation. The living dead man roared and attacked Thalia with his rusty, broken sword.

While exchanging blows with the undead, Thalia discovered that Draugr's movements were refined and powerful.

However, Thalia was not frightened, but excited by the discovery. She felt that Draugr was the perfect opponent for her to train with. He was neither too strong nor too weak to be killed with just one blow from her spear.

Knowing this, Thalia began to fight in earnest, adjusting her stances with the spear and perfecting her own techniques.

Clang!!! Clang!!! Clang!!!

Sparks flew in the air as the two weapons collided head-on. Thalia, who had already been fighting for minutes, had sweat dripping down her face, but her movements were still quick and deadly.

"She's a quick learner." Mimir commented with a smile. He could see that the girl had to improve, which was a good thing, especially with the future full of wars. "I can ask the God of War to help Thalia with some lessons."

"He's honorable and a good god, he'll be a good teacher." Mimir agreed to ask Tyr for help with training. The god might be the God of War, but he was one of the most honorable and kind gods anyone could meet.

Suddenly, the necklace around Godwyn's neck pointed to the right. Following the direction, he saw a normal stall, but who was hammering away at a forge was none other than a bearded blue dwarf.

From his expression, he was in a bad mood, but ever since he had met Brok, the dwarf had always had that expression.

"By Lady Sif's big, soft breasts, this fucking metal is garbage." The dwarf cursed aloud as the metal he was hammering simply snapped in two at the touch of his hammer.

"Sif does have big breasts, but how do you know they're soft?" Godwyn approached the stall and asked in an amused, cheerful tone.

"Of course I fucked her once, the Thunder God himself was sleeping drunk in the next bed." Brok retorted at the same moment and spoke in a loud, powerful voice.

Whether it was Godwyn or Mimir, they rolled their eyes. Both didn't believe the dwarf's words. Not to mention the fact that Thor was sleeping next door, it was hard to think that one of the most faithful goddesses in the Norse pantheon would commit adultery with a dwarf.

Seeing the skepticism in the boy's eyes, Brok spoke again, but this time with a sullen tone and dissatisfied with the skepticism in the boy's eyes. "She prefers a real, romantic, handsome man, not a fat brute."

"I never expected you to be so romantic, I'll ask Sindri later. I bet you two barrels of mead he knows a few of your stories." Godwyn spoke with a teasing tone, seeing the dwarf get even angrier.

"What could that piece of shit possibly know about me?" Brok said with an arrogant tone, full of contempt for his brother.

"By the way, I heard you died, kid." Brok said, raising his head and looking at Godwyn, more specifically at the necklace around his neck.

"Can't I be someone who found the necklace by chance?" Godwyn asked curiously. As far as he knew, it wasn't so easy for Brok to recognize him.

The dwarf's expression showed a disdainful look. Throwing the broken metal in the trash, Brok spoke grumpily, but arrogantly. "I could, but now you've confirmed my words."

"It's been a while, Brok." Godwyn greeted Brok, but didn't remove his disguise just in case.

"Yeah, you're a tough kid to kill." Brok said with a laugh, but Godwyn saw a touch of relief in the dwarf's hard expression. Obviously the news of his death had shaken the grumpiest dwarf in the Nine Kingdoms.
