"Godwyn, what do you think of a riddle right now?" Mimir spoke with an amused tone as all four demigods warmed themselves around the fireplace of the house they were currently in.
Godwyn rolled his eyes, knowing another stupid riddle was coming. Mimir loved riddles and loved teaching logical reasoning to children, which he currently fit into at thirteen years old.
Mimir captured the attention of the other demigods, especially Annabeth, who perked up her ears, ready to listen and answer before everyone else present. Her eyes sparkled, looking eagerly at Mimir.
Seeing this, Mimir's lips curled into a happy smile; he looked at the four demigods and began the riddle with an enigmatic tone. "There are three doors before you: the first has a pit of thorns, one has a dragon behind it, and the other has two lions that haven't eaten in weeks. Which do you choose?"
Luke and Thalia thought for a moment before answering at the same time. "The first door!"
"It's easier to pass through a pit of thorns than to fight a dragon or two lions." Thalia explained with a confident tone. After all, the answer was obvious; what fool would fight a dragon or lions when they could easily pass through other doors?"
Godwyn refused to answer such an obvious riddle, but Annabeth showed a happy smile and proudly answered. "I choose the third door!"
Annabeth's answer made Luke and Thalia look confused at the small blonde girl. Obviously, in their eyes, the first door was the easiest; why risk fighting lions?
"HAHAHA!!!" Mimir began to laugh and looked at Annabeth with appreciation. "Annabeth is right, the two lions are dead! HAHAHAHA!!!"
Seeing Thalia and Luke's still confused expressions, Annabeth raised her head proudly and spoke with a condescending tone. "No lion survives weeks without eating."
Both Thalia and Luke looked away, embarrassed to be outsmarted by a seven-year-old girl.
"You didn't answer, Godwyn." Mimir said with a smile, looking at the boy with long golden hair.
"I've heard so many of your riddles that I refuse to answer." Eating a piece of canned food he found in the kitchen, Godwyn replied with a calm and uninterested tone.
The first ten riddles were interesting, but after months of riddles, he just wanted to throw Mimir's head into a pit of manure!
"Riddles help children develop quick and logical reasoning. It's a very good thing for children." Mimir said with a happy tone after his riddle was answered correctly by Annabeth.
Annabeth deeply agreed with Mimir's words; she loved all kinds of riddles while homeschooling…
Remembering home, Annabeth's face showed deep sadness. Her father and stepmother hated her; they had never cared for her throughout her life. She was just a burden compared to her father's children with her stepmother.
When Annabeth was sad, she felt a hand on her head and looked up, seeing Godwyn looking at her with a warm and gentle gaze. He said nothing, but his gaze was better than any words. Unconsciously, she moved closer to him and showed a smile.
Looking at the girl who was happier, Godwyn smiled gently and stroked her soft hair. Annabeth had paternal issues just like him in his past life. This feeling of knowing that no one cares about you was desperate for any teenager, even more unbearable for children.
"Godwyn, tell us a story of yours." Annabeth, who was leaning on Godwyn, enjoying his strong, calm, and mature presence, asked curiously. She had always been curious about Godwyn. He seemed like a book she wanted to read page by page to satisfy her desire for knowledge.
Thalia, Luke, and even Mimir, who had been with Godwyn for a few months, also looked at the boy, waiting for his story.
"Let's not talk about my first mission, but my second mission." Godwyn said with a smile. "Those three old hags asked me to go to Helheim after the death bird went crazy."
"Godwyn, there are children here." Mimir spoke with a helpless tone. Perhaps Godwyn was the only being who dared to call the Norns old hags, although he himself had called them that before, it was only due to momentary stress.
Just thinking that he dared to curse those three crazy women, Mimir felt a shiver run through his head. Offending beings who could control destiny (to some extent) was not exactly a way to survive for long.
Godwyn looked at Annabeth and nodded his head and refrained from cursing the three hags in front of a child. Honestly, his anger towards the Norns was very simple and logical.
Besides them, there was no second being to know his secret. But Odin discovered the Destined Death, and Godwyn was sure the Norns told Odin!
'When I return to Norway, I will kill you three.' Godwyn thought with a calm gaze, red lightning appearing in his pupils. If they treated him with respect, he would treat the other with ten times more respect, but if they treated him with disrespect, he would disrespect the enemy ten times more.
"This is another one of the God of Lies and Mischief's pranks. Perhaps for a bet or simply due to his crazy mind, he found it incredibly wise to try to steal one of the eggs of Hræsvelgr, the Corpse-Eating, Lady of Helheim."
"What followed was complete chaos. The Jotun Hræsvelg became completely furious and chased the God of Mischief throughout the realm of the dead. The fight between the two beings even alarmed the ruler of Hel. The queen of the dead obviously sided with Hræsvelg and helped defeat the God of Mischief."
"The God of Mischief was captured by the Queen of the Dead and tortured day and night, until the All-Father finally grew tired of the Queen of the Dead's disrespect towards him."
Hearing Godwyn's deep voice, everyone seemed attentive to his words, obviously very interested in the story.
"Why was the All-Father angry with the Queen of the Dead?" Thalia asked with a curious expression. She really didn't understand how the All-Father got angry about the God of Mischief's affairs.
"That's because the God of Mischief was accepted by the All-Father as a brother. How could a king of gods stand by when his family was tortured? But don't think he acted out of benevolence; it was only out of ego, arrogance, and pride." Godwyn said with a sarcastic and ironic tone.
Mimir agreed with Godwyn's words; Odin didn't care about his own son, Thor, much less cared about Loki. It was only out of ego and pride that Odin couldn't allow Loki to remain in Hel being tortured.
"To prevent a war from happening between Hel, the World of the Dead, and Asgard, the World of the Aesir Gods, the Norns instilled in me the duty to be the diplomat between the two worlds." Godwyn said, stroking Annabeth's soft hair, which now rested on his lap. Even with all the hygiene, the girl's hair remained soft. Benefits of having divine blood.
"Honestly, convincing the Queen of the Dead not to start a war was one of my proudest acts." Godwyn said with a proud tone. "I spent months in the Realm of the Dead before finally convincing the Queen of the Dead that a war at that moment would only destroy her Realm."
"That's incredible; the Queen of the Dead is not known for her patience." Mimir truly admired Godwyn's dialogue skills. Hella killed beings for much less, and those who disrespected her turned into souls trapped in her bed, where she slept peacefully every night.
"I'm very good at talking to people." Godwyn replied with a slightly mischievous and proud tone; after all, it was a skill many men envied, especially when used on women!
Mimir laughed and didn't doubt Godwyn's words. Although he had known the boy for a few months, he saw how easily the boy made friends everywhere. He even saw Godwyn being robbed but managed to befriend the robber in a few minutes.
Everyone seemed to like Godwyn, almost as if there was a magical aura around him, making everyone feel pleasant and relaxed around Godwyn. This was a very frightening ability.
'You tried to prevent Ragnarok at all costs, but unknowingly, you were fulfilling the prophecy.' Mimir thought of Odin, who was preventing Ragnarok by all possible means.
Whether exterminating the Jotuns, making the Dark Elves and the Light Elves go to war, imprisoning the dwarves and forcing them to create weapons. Everything Odin did to prevent Ragnarok only accelerated the End of Times.
What was even more ironic was that all of this would begin when Godwyn used these friendships to start Ragnarok.
