Chapter 6 - [6]. Spare Her!

A giant ape over twenty meters tall rampaged through the forest.

Its massive maw parted as it roared, fangs bared—then with a deafening sound, it unleashed a massive red energy blast from its mouth.

BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!

A massive mushroom cloud rose into the sky, smoke and flames engulfing the area. The acrid scent of burning earth filled the air.

"So strong…"

Kaso swallowed hard, stunned by the sheer power Ausbi'er was displaying in her Great Ape form.

The beast pounded her chest again, and her blood-red eyes fixated on the full moon above. She reached a massive hand toward the sky—as if trying to grab the glowing orb—but the moon, of course, didn't budge.

"ROAR!"

As if enraged by that, she slammed her fists again and released another beam of destructive light.

BOOM—BOOM!

A mountain in the distance was struck directly, shattering instantly as boulders and debris were flung in every direction.

A deep canyon tore through the land where the beam passed, as if a violent earthquake had split the planet open. Chunks of rock tumbled endlessly into the ravine. Trees were flattened by the shockwave, and flames sparked in several places, quickly setting the forest ablaze.

Animals screamed and fled in terror.

The once peaceful forest was now a vision of hell.

Kaso had gotten rid of his scouter before coming to Planet Mumu, just to avoid being tracked. Relying on the bit of ki-sensing he'd learned over the past six months, he could estimate that Ausbi'er's power had risen tenfold—around 8,000.

Ten times stronger.

He knew that in this world, just a few hundred power level points could destroy a planet. At 8,000, Ausbi'er could level this world before sunrise.

Kaso dropped to one knee, gasping, blood pumping hard through his veins.

How was this possible?

A few moments ago, Ausbi'er had been a cute little porcelain doll. Now she was a towering, feral monster that couldn't recognize even him.

"There's no choice… I have to cut her tail off."

That was the only way to end a Saiyan's Great Ape form.

Kaso slapped himself across the face to wake himself up.

He was the only one on this planet who could stop her.

He looked up.

"Crap!"

A dark red energy ball formed in the air.

He couldn't dodge in time.

BOOM!

It struck him directly. His body was launched like a ragdoll, flying backward at insane speed.

He tumbled across the ground, carving a trench over a hundred meters long before coming to a halt.

"Guhhh!"

Kaso coughed up blood. Pain exploded through every nerve in his body. His upper clothes had been burned away, exposing deep and jagged wounds. His skin felt like it was on fire.

"That idiot Ausbi'er!"

He cursed aloud, groaning through clenched teeth.

If that blast had been even a fraction more powerful, he'd be dead already.

"I have to stop her."

Kaso knew that if this continued, she could destroy the entire planet in one night.

Bracing himself with one hand, he forced his body upright.

Each movement pulled on his wounds, tearing at his muscles and forcing fresh blood to spill.

He grit his teeth, steadying himself.

Then, with quiet steps, he began creeping through the ruined forest toward her.

Everywhere was scorched and crumbling.

Kaso climbed a tree and focused on her position.

The Great Ape was mid-rampage, stomping one foot down so hard the earth beneath cracked like tofu. She pounded her chest, letting out a furious roar.

A red glow flickered in her mouth—she was charging another beam!

"Now's my chance!"

He knew there would be a brief opening right after the energy beam was fired.

This was it.

The red energy sphere in her mouth expanded, radiating an eerie gravity. Pebbles were drawn toward it. Branches and leaves were pulled in—but before they even got close, they were incinerated by the raw heat.

Kaso shivered at the terrifying pressure.

If that beam touched him, not even ash would remain.

At last, Ausbi'er let loose the blast—

It shot into the sky and struck a massive mountain range in the distance.

Now!

Kaso exploded forward like lightning.

He zeroed in on her tail, his right hand condensing his ki into a blade.

Just one clean cut.

He leapt at her tail—

But suddenly, it flicked upward and dodged!

Then it began whipping violently, spinning like a spiked flail.

From a distance, it looked like a giant serpentine blur of afterimages.

"Damn! She's too sharp!"

He hadn't expected her to remain aware of her surroundings.

This wasn't like her usual ditzy, naive self.

The tail whipped again—Kaso barely defended, but he was being pushed back.

He wasn't her equal in this form—not even close.

Then—

CRACK!

A brutal blow landed square on his back.

"AAAGH!"

He screamed, the pain ringing across the land.

His body flew like a cannonball and smashed into a nearby hill.

BOOM!

The impact blasted open a massive crater.

Meanwhile, the beam Ausbi'er had fired earlier detonated against the mountain range.

BOOOOOOOM!

Another massive mushroom cloud filled the sky—this one ten times larger than any atomic bomb.

The force of the explosion carved out the atmosphere. Dust blanketed the sky like volcanic ash.

A few hundred meters away, in a collapsed cavern—

Kaso lay buried under rubble. Slowly, he raised his upper body, dislodging chunks of stone from his back.

"Cough! Cough!"

Blood dripped from his mouth as pain coursed through him.

He was already covered in wounds—now this.

Then—

THUD. THUD. THUD.

Heavy footsteps echoed across the land.

Kaso's expression twisted.

She was coming.

The mouth of the cave was suddenly ripped open by a massive hand.

"It's over," he muttered with a bitter smile.

"Bii'er… if you wake up tomorrow and I'm not around… please don't cry."

He had no strength left.

Bones were broken. Muscles torn. He could barely move his fingers.

He tried to wipe the blood from his mouth, but the pain made him tremble.

When he first arrived in this world, he had dreamed of becoming the strongest Saiyan. Of standing side by side with Goku. Of showing off in front of Vegeta.

Half a year had passed.

None of those dreams had come true.

Was he really going to die under Ausbi'er's foot?

What a joke...

He sighed, vision blurry.

He imagined Ausbi'er searching the forest, crying for "Kaso-gege."

He imagined her all alone, being hunted by Frieza.

She was just a child—how could someone like her survive in this brutal universe?

His chest ached with guilt. He wasn't ready to leave her.

Suddenly, the giant ape stood over him, staring.

She raised her left foot.

Ready to stomp.

Kaso closed his eyes.

"Fine… just end it."

Time passed.

"…Huh?"

The killing blow never came.

He opened his eyes—and saw her massive foot frozen in the air, unmoving.

Then her giant ruby-red eyes blinked.

Her face twisted in thought.

Suddenly, her expression softened.

Her leg slowly retracted.

She bent her knees and sat beside him.

"…She remembers me?"

Kaso's lips curled upward. Then he burst out laughing.

"HAHAHAHA—!"

But after just a few laughs, he choked, tears welling in his eyes.

"She didn't forget me…"

"She didn't forget…"

The Great Ape tilted her massive head, glancing down at him.

Her fingers scratched at her head, as if puzzled.

Why was that little bug talking to himself?

Kaso flinched—thinking she might attack again—but she only rubbed her head in confusion.

He exhaled in relief.

"Whew… You big dummy… When you change back tomorrow, I'm definitely giving you a beating…"

Just like that, the chaos ended.

In the distance, the forest still burned.

But the rampage… had stopped.

Ausbi'er now sat quietly against the mountain wall. Her giant arms rested at her sides.

Kaso, shivering from the cold, instinctively edged closer.

She was covered in warm fur. Nestling against her was incredibly comfortable.

Still, lying against a Great Ape made him uneasy, so he glanced upward.

She was gazing at the moon, eyes glassy.

Kaso: "…"

The forest burned for two more hours before the flames died out.

Ash covered the sky.

Dust blanketed the ground like volcanic powder.

The full moon still hung overhead.

And beneath it, a little boy leaned against a giant ape's leg.

One small, one huge—

Both snoring softly.
