Damon's POV
I burst through the doors of the police station, my heart hammering against my ribs. Inspector Aurora was in the kitchen area, chatting with fellow officers. I gestured frantically for him to follow me to his office.
Once behind closed doors, I explained the disaster unfolding at my apartment. Aurora's face transformed from confusion to shock as I detailed the situation.
"What a complete mess you've created, Damon," Aurora said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Tell me something I don't know," I agreed, running my fingers through my hair.
Aurora leaned forward in his chair. "Actually, it's worse than you think. I spoke with Chloe about twenty minutes ago, right after receiving your message asking where I was."
My stomach dropped. "She called you?" The panic in my voice was unmistakable.
"No, I called her. Needed some advice about issues with my wife." Aurora rubbed his tired eyes.
"And?" I prompted, dread spreading through my body like ice water.
