Damon's POV
The investigation into my almost-divorce fraud seemed to be going nowhere. Weeks had passed without any breakthrough, leaving me in a state of constant anxiety. Sasha was becoming more aggressive with her intrusions into my life, and my father wouldn't stop insisting I visit Crestwood nearly every weekend under the guise of helping my brother with business matters.
Though Maya remained composed and didn't pressure me, I could tell she was observant. Occasionally, she would inquire about what was happening, but I always managed to deflect her questions. Amid this turmoil, Adrian and Stella's wedding preparations were proceeding with much fanfare and excitement.
When Damian extended an invitation for a casual Sunday of barbecue and swimming at his place, all I wanted was a peaceful day with Maya and our friends. But apparently, that was asking too much.
