Hector's POV
I observed Aria intently as she spoke on the phone. Every gesture, every modulation in her voice betrayed her nature – a seasoned criminal with an arsenal of deceptions. Curiosity gnawed at me. Who was on the other end of that line? My instinct suggested she was warning this Claire individual about a cop suddenly poking around in old cases. But I couldn't be certain, especially since she'd deliberately used an ancient telephone that couldn't store any call history. I was frankly surprised that relic still functioned.
The moment she exited the room, I turned to the detective.
"I'm wondering who she called," I said, my eyes lingering on the door.
"My friend, this little woman is quite the operator." The detective's lips curled into a knowing smile. "She thinks she's clever, but she forgot where she is – a police station. I'm also curious if she reached out to any accomplices."
