Chapter 24 - ch:24"They Were Always Together"

At the university, Han went straight to class and sat at the front desk.

A little while later, Jiwoo walked in. Her eyes widened in surprise—and maybe a bit of admiration—when she saw Han already there.

When the class ended, jiwoo gathered her things. Most students hurried out, but Han stayed seated. Outside the classroom, Christine had been waiting for jiwoo, but the moment her eyes caught Han, her whole expression lit up. She brushed past Jiwoo without a second glance and went straight to him.

"Baby hani," she cooed, pinching his cheeks playfully.

Jiwoo 's face tightened. Every time she sees him, she forgets about me completely.

She walked over and stood by them, but Christine didn't even look at her. Neither did Han. It was as if she wasn't even there.

Christine leaned toward Han, her tone soft. "Are you sure you really want to do this?"

Han gave a small nod.

"Alright then. I'll come with you. Is it okay if you skip classes for today?"

Another nod. "Yeah, it'll be fine."

Christine smiled, slipped her arm through his, and the two of them began walking away together.

Jiwoo just stood frozen, watching them. When Christine glanced back, jiwoo's heart fluttered—maybe she remembered her. But then Christine gave a teasing smile and said,

"Jiwoo… bye bye."

The words stung. Jiwoo's smile vanished, replaced by a frustrated sigh as she turned her eyes away.

Meanwhile, at the basketball court, the tryouts were already in motion. The gym echoed with sneakers squeaking against the floor, shouts from players, and the sharp blow of a whistle.

Chaewon scanned the court again and again, but Han was nowhere to be seen. A tight knot of worry formed in his chest. For a second, he thought about calling—but then remembered he didn't even have Han's number. He never needed it. They were always together, and Han always told him before leaving.

Chaewon checked the locker room. Empty. His worry only grew.

Soon Jun, along with the other seniors, called everyone to gather. The tryout began, but Chaewon wasn't himself. His body moved, but his mind kept wandering. He wasn't focused on the ball—he was focused on the door.

His teammates yelled at him for being careless, but their voices barely registered.

Finally, just as Chaewon was about to shoot, a voice from the sidelines shouted:

"Han hyung is here!"

Chaewon froze, the ball still in his hands, his eyes snapping to the entrance—where Han finally appeared.
