After another week of them all practicing Orion and his generals continued on their journey to the were village. It did not take them all that long because the were‑rats led them to it, but they were told that many despised the rats because they were rats. With this in mind Orion had doubts about the were village and how they would react. He was so proud of the rats because they all stepped up and became sword mages and he would not put up with discrimination in the order. He did not choose the recruits, they chose him, and he would not turn any away unless they were vile and evil.
The rats are very honorable but in life certain people always need someone to look down on because they can't deal with their own issues so they blame them on others instead of taking responsibility for their own shortcomings. If that's the people of the were village then we might not find any good recruits but we might find a gem or two, so they headed to the were village fighting any beast that came their way. It was good practice for the newer soldiers. The closer they got to the village the fewer beasts they encountered.
As they reached the town, they all started to sing the song of truth as they reached the town's gate where people were all coming out of their houses. Some people started singing the song and others just stood there crying knowing that saviors had come and it was obvious that the number of sword mages had increased dramatically. Some of the younger villagers all wanted to learn and train and some of the older men wanted a chance too. Then someone shouted they have rats in their midst they recruited rats.
It was a shift and Orion walked up to the person who made the statement and very loudly said yes, I have recruited and trained the rats who so valiantly volunteered to help me free our world from the shadows. Who are you to look down on them have you taken the oath? Can you fight one either armed or in hand‑to‑hand combat alone? If you can't what right do you have to say anything? Or do you wish to make me curse your village and not even teach the song here for your people to be safe from the shadows. We are leaving now and with that the sword mages moved to leave.
A lot of people thought the person was right and a lot more were upset because of one person they were going to lose their chance at greatness. The town leader saw them all leaving the town and fell to his knees. He called his guards and told them to find and bind the person who made such a comment to the sword mages. The mages made it to the forest on the other side of town when the town leader came running after them and apologized to them saying the sword mages are all welcome no matter what race they are.
Orion says really because I have deemed your town not fit to be a part of our new world encouraging hate and discrimination like that. If I didn't know that the shadows can't possess you as easily as men, we would storm your city tomorrow and make sure every villager is not possessed. The town leader bowed and said please don't condemn us all because of one person's evil. I will make sure they are properly punished for this. Bring them and your village to this field tomorrow as for us Orion throws his stone and sings and a cottage appears we will stay the night here.
And everyone goes into the cottage. Inside there are rooms for everyone and now there are multiple baths. Everyone who stayed in his cottage was loving the baths. Orion said tomorrow I want everyone to be in their natural forms, orcs be orcs, I want them to know that we accept all races and discriminating against anyone is not going to fly with any of us. Topaz, I want you in full dragon form sitting there keeping an eye on everything. And my rat brothers I am sorry because I want you to fight every were that has issues with you and your brothers.
It's time we make a big impression on a city and any who are recruited here will be training under you. I know I am asking a lot but once we know how many want to become sword mages, I ask one of you go and tell the dwarf rats how many swords we need and bring them to us here. After this if the rats in the forest wish to stay in the city and they receive bad treatment then we might raze the city till it ends we can't let evil fester.
The next morning as they all walk out of the cottage; they were folk gasp. First Topaz comes out and turns into a dragon and sits by the cottage, then orcs come out, then cat people, then the half demon, then the rats and last was Orion. Everyone that came was shocked. The person who spoke up was there tied up and the village elder realized that all Orion had to do was say the word and they would all be either dead or homeless he has a dragon with them!!
Next Orion spoke as you all can see the sword mages don't look down on any race. For the disrespect shown yesterday those with issues with the rats come forward and explain yourselves. Starting with the disrespectful one. That person stepped forward and said that they are dirty and spread disease, and can't fight. Orion replied oh so can you fight? The man said give me a sword and I can beat any rat.
So, Orion had him pick a rat to fight and everyone watched as the rat did not even pull his sword and he had the man on the ground in three seconds. The looks of the village people were shocked. The rat after putting him down the first time gave him his sword again and put him down again even faster. It became obvious the man was not even making the rat sweat. When the rat knocked him out Orion said who is next to try and tell me they can fight one of my sword mages?
I am looking for my next person to prove that the lies and evil that spreads and divides us make people stupid and weak. Your words and actions of hate can be shown to be true or lies and if you are following lies you can be taken by shadows and I would rather kill you all than have an evil blade at our backs because of your worthless pride and looking down on others so who is next.
