Chapter 7 - Rumours Of A Murderer Among Us

Genzo's face had a gloomy expression, a single tear rolled down his face, as the tear fell down he quickly wiped it with his hand. He stared down at the floor, with an empty head, he wondered why he was alive.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay."

"But you're crying"

"Probably the heat"

Genzo smiled at Kiya and looked down at the floor.

???:"Damn that's sad"

"What?" Genzo and Kiya exclaimed with a confused look, unaware that someone was sitting besides them. They looked to their right to see a different guard sitting with them, wearing red uniform and black cap with a black pant and black shoes.

The guard got up, did not even say a word and walked away.

"Wait" Kiya said.

"You aren't like the other guards, are you?" Kiya said, subtly pointing towards the red guard different from the one who commanded them, who was green.

"Well, you have to find out" The guard said looking back at Kiya and Genzo with a mysterious smile.

"What was that about?"

Genzo asked standing up.

"I don't know but I think he might be of some help."

"Mm, possibly."

The guard walked up to the centre of the room and shouted.

"I ASSUME YOU ARE DONE. WE WILL NOW GO TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITE."

The guard started walking as everyone else followed him. After a while, the guard got on a horse.

"FROM HERE ON OUT, YOU WILL WALK."

"Whaaat" Everyone said in unison as they murmured among themselves.

The slaves were in anger, they murmured among themselves as they walked. Some planned to push guard off the horse and take it. Some wanted to straight up murder him, but some were wise. The wise ones knew that, even if they kill the guard right now and try to escape through the shell, it would be near impossible. If they wanted escape this fortress-prison, then they had to kill the warden. Killing the warden would strike panic and fear into the hearts of the the guards, because of an unknown reason.

He was that strong.

Anyone who could kill the warden of the prison had to the strongest in the whole prison, after all, the warden's nickname was 'The Caged Demon' although the reason is unknown.

"I heard a rumour, that the warden is called 'The Caged Demon'." Said Genzo.

"Caged Demon? That is kinda corny."

"I know but there must be a reason he's called that."

"Huh, me too."

"OH SHIT." Someone among the slaves screamed as a loud thud was heard.

"HE'S DEAD."

He screamed as he looked at the slave lying on the ground. He seemed to have been checking his pulse, but realising that he was dead, dropped him on the ground. A tall man with hair parted into two ways. It was Frederick. He quickly went over to the slave on the ground.

"He's right, he's not breathing."

He felt a wet sensation in his arms while lifting up the slave. He removed the ragged clothes to see a red stain, it was blood.

"Someone seemed to have stabbed him."

Murmurs were heard among the slaves. The obvious answer was the man who was with the dead slave and everyone knew it. The slave who was with the deadman at the time seemed to have been frightened and shook.

At that time, the guards noticed the commotion involving the dead slave, he turned around to check what was going on.

"HEY, What is going ON there?"

He yelled and asked as he walked towards the group, the crowd made way for the guard. He walked towards the dead body and as he saw it, his facial expression slowly changed, not shock, not pain, not sadness but anger, not out of empathy, but out of selfishness.

Guard: "SHIT…WHO THE HELL DID THIS?"

"NOW I'M GOING TO GET KILLED. ."

'Now I'm screwed. My deadline for the delivery of 11 slaves is in 3 days from now on and I promised to bring them there. SHIT. I must have someone, take responsibility. I got to find out the killer. If I find him out, then I might just escape death.'

Guard:"WHOEVER DID THIS MUST CONFESS IN UNDER 2 DAYS."

The answer from the slaves was the obvious one, the one who was with him at he time, the friend of the dead man. They all pointed at him except for Frederick, Hitleck, Kiya and Genzo. The majority was on the deadman's friend's side.

"DO YOU HAVE ANY EVIDENCE AND ARE YOU SURE?"

Everybody went silent, no one made a sound. They looked down.

DON'T LIE TO ME, YOU. MUST. TELL. ME. WHO THE REAL CULPRIT IS."

"Why does it even matter, just kill him."

"IT DOES MATTER, OK? IT DOES."

"YOU HAVE 2 DAYS TO FIND OUT WHO THE REAL KILLER IS. IF YOU DON'T… YOU ARE A-ALL COMING DOWN WITH ME." He yelled angrily.

Everyone started getting scared, if they don't find the real culprit, then they will die.

"Hey Kiya, do you have any idea who it might be?"

Frederick asked while crossing his arms and tapping on Kiya's arm with his elbow.

"Why would you ask me, you should ask Genzo, he is way more smarter than me."

"I don't know, but I feel like you are different from the rest of us, that you are acting in front of us to deceive us, which I don't know reason,But, I feel like you are hiding your intelligence.... Oh well."

"What are you talking about? I am not acting in front of you. I'm your friend, right?"

"Well, we ARE friends. Ahh, just some stupid intuition, forget it."

"It's okay….everyone has these kind of moments once in a while."Kiya said with a calming and soft voice while tapping his shoulder gently.

"Well, you still haven't answered the question."

"I don't know, it could be anyone."

"hmm, true."

They looked at the guard smoking a cigar. He then dropped the cigar on the ground and rubbed it with his shoes. He then turned around, seemingly walking the direction where the slaves where at.

"THE UNDERGROUND MINING SESSION AT THE CAVE IS CANCELLED FOR 3 DAYS."

These words lit up the faces of the slaves, finally some good news, this good news created a spark of joy amongst the slaves. Even if they found out the culprit, they would still die to the monsters in the cave.

"IF YOU FIND THE CULPRIT, YOU MIGHT GET A CHANCE TO GET OUT OF HERE."

These words brought tears down the faces slaves, tears of joy, they were finally gonna escape from this place. Hearing these words made the slaves want to scream and raise their hands as far as possible, symbolising freedom.

Kiya's face also lit up as he heard this phrase, he had planned to get out of this place to see Kella. Now was the time to do this, he had to find the culprit at and and all costs.

Suddenly, it rained, the sound was soothing and was relaxing but the color hinted at something else, it wasn't just any rain, it rained blood, deep dark blood.

The Sky Suddenly Wept Blood.
