Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Gene-Spider Fusion

In an instant, a swarm of spiders burst out from the blue room.

"Ahh! Get them off me! Get them off!" Jimmy shouted in feigned panic, flailing his arms and wildly kicking the genetically modified spiders at his feet.

"Oh my God!" the guide yelled, trying to swat the spiders off Jimmy. But Jimmy kept flailing and yelling, "Go get help! Hurry!"

"O-okay!" The guide, after having a few spiders flung at him by Jimmy, nodded and dashed out the door.

As soon as the man left, Jimmy suddenly had two bottles in his hand—one empty, and the other containing some ordinary spiders that looked similar to the gene-spiders.

He quickly opened the empty bottle and scooped in several of the modified spiders before sealing it shut. Then he emptied out the ordinary spiders and began stomping on them along with a few leftover gene-spiders, making sure to blend them in.

Right then, the guide returned with a few researchers.

They saw Jimmy still in a frantic panic, slapping himself all over. They rushed forward to help.

"Oh no! What happened here?" the lead researchers of the fiber division had arrived and were stunned by the chaos.

"Spiders got out! Help us catch them!" the guide shouted.

The two researchers quickly joined in the effort. After a bout of chaos, Jimmy was "invited" by higher-ups to a lounge for tea, while other researchers stayed behind to clean up the remains of the spiders Jimmy had stomped.

In a reception room, Jimmy shouted in feigned anger, "So what, I stepped on a few bugs and now I have to pay for them? Fine! Tell me how much!"

"Of course not, sir. You were startled because of our mistake, and we sincerely apologize," said a white manager in a blue suit, shaking his head quickly.

"Hmph!" Jimmy snorted and angrily stripped off his suit—still covered in spider silk—tossing it into the trash. "Fine. I know it was an accident. I won't make a fuss. But I'd like to take some of your bio-fiber cable samples with me. If they're good, I might officially place an order with your company," he said after a pause.

"Absolutely! Thank you for understanding. We'll compensate you for the suit," the manager said with a polite smile.

"No need. I've got other things to do. I'll be going now," Jimmy replied, waving his hand.

Seeing Jimmy walk out with a box of bio-fiber cables, the manager turned around and roared at the guide and researchers behind him, "Damn it! How many times do I have to say it—close the door when you leave!"

"Yes, sir!" they responded with their heads bowed.

"How many did we lose this time?" the manager asked.

"Sixteen spiders were killed. The rest were recovered," one researcher answered quietly.

"Damn it!" the manager yelled in frustration.

Outside the Oscorp building, Jimmy didn't rush back. He returned first to the boutique he visited earlier and bought a new suit, then casually hailed a cab and returned to the hotel.

Once in his room, Jimmy quickly closed the curtains and took out the bottle containing the gene-spiders from his space ring. He began observing them carefully. Before long, the bottle was already filled with spider silk. After counting, Jimmy confirmed there were ten gene-spiders inside.

He paused to consider: should he fuse with them directly, or just let them bite him first?

Eventually, Jimmy decided to get bitten first, and fuse later.

Without hesitation, he popped the lid and inverted the bottle over his right wrist. After a moment, one spider bit into his skin. Jimmy gritted his teeth and continued to wait. Soon, two more bit him.

He switched to his left wrist and let four more spiders bite in. Once done, Jimmy whispered, "Fuse."

Instantly, the remaining spiders in the bottle turned into blood-like liquid and merged into his wrist.

"Ohh…" Jimmy let out a long, satisfied sigh as he collapsed onto the bed. While his body tingled in delight, his mind remained sharp and aware.

Before long, he fell into a half-conscious sleep, eyes still slightly open.

When Jimmy woke again, he immediately noticed the world had changed.

His vision was incredibly sharp—even a mosquito flying past his face was in crisp focus. His hearing had improved too—he could hear sounds from the floors above and below, even the flapping of a moth's wings dozens of meters outside the hotel.

Jimmy grinned and stuck out his tongue in satisfaction. He instinctively scratched at an itchy spot on his ribs and pulled out his phone to check his stats. What he saw startled even him.

Jimmy clenched his fists in excitement. He was confident he could now take down a T-Rex with his bare hands.

He grinned again, pulled open the curtains, and saw that night had already fallen. Checking his phone, he saw it was past 2 a.m.

"Heh," Jimmy chuckled to himself. "Perfect time to test out my new powers."

Then he paused. He touched his forehead and realized—his horns had regrown, even larger and sharper than before.

With a sigh, he pulled out a saw and carefully filed them down. After tapping away the powdered remains, he left the hotel.

He had promised Corey he'd take out those gangsters tonight. But first, he needed to check in with Frank, the arms dealer.

At the back door of the café, Jimmy gave a light knock—he didn't want to risk smashing the door by accident.

Even though it was 2 a.m., the Black assistant still opened the door. "Oh! You came. Thought you weren't showing up," the man whispered, stepping aside.

Inside, Jimmy asked, "Got my bodysuits?"

"All set," the man replied softly.

"Good. And the ammo?"

"Half of it's here already."

"Great. I'll pay up now," Jimmy said with a nod.

After wrapping things up with the arms dealer, Jimmy went to find Corey.

"Sir, you're here!" Corey greeted eagerly.

"Yeah. Give me the location. I'll handle it alone. You just send men to take over and clean up afterward," Jimmy said calmly.

"Uh… okay!" Corey quickly agreed.

Leaving Corey's underground warehouse, Jimmy found a shadowy alley and pulled a leather pouch from his space ring. Inside were two bodysuits. He caressed the red one and chuckled quietly to himself.

"Heh… Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be Spider-Man. Guess I finally get my chance."
