*Hazel's POV*
"You've been hiding things from me." I crossed my arms, staring at Sera across the cramped RV space. "Not just little things. Major, life-altering things."
Tension vibrated through the air between us. Outside, I could hear the children playing with Kael. Their laughter felt distant, disconnected from the heaviness inside.
Sera sighed, pushing her colorful hair back from her face. For the first time since I'd met her, she looked genuinely worried.
"It's not that simple, Hazel."
"Make it simple," I demanded.
She glanced at the window, then back at me. "There are rules. Cosmic rules I can't break without consequences."
"Enough with the cryptic bullshit!" My voice rose. "You know what I am. You called me an Anchor. You know about Kael. About everything. I need answers."
Sera's eyes darkened. She motioned for me to sit on the bench opposite her.
"Fine. But once we start this conversation, there's no going back."
