He remembered the morning he woke up and she was gone. The silence in the house. The empty side of the bed. The unanswered calls. The hollow feeling in his chest.
He almost spiraled. He almost became that reckless man again. But her voice, her teachings, her love they pulled him back.
He stayed strong… even when it hurt.
But now, standing in front of her again, hearing that she had a child for him his child was something he wasn't prepared hearing.
He took a step forward, his voice finally coming out, low and heavy. "I'm disappointed in you, Cecilia."
He wasn't shouting. He didn't need to. His tone said enough.
"I'm extremely disappointed."
His eyes were locked on hers now. His heart was screaming.
"Why would you keep this from me?" he asked. "Why wouldn't you pick up the phone? Even once. Even just to tell me you were okay? That you were alive?"
