Chapter 13 - Thoughts

I woke up with a gasp to find myself back on the same bed I first woke up in.

The room was dark with moonlight filtering in through the window.

Even when time did not exist here, it seems there would still be night and day.

I rubbed a hand down my face seemingly tired even though I just wok up from sleep.

'must be mental fatigue' I thought.

I began to ponder about the event I dreamt of.

Azrael did say a major that a major event that could cause a rip in time happened. I deduction is that my dream was the event that happened. Maybe bringing the demon king from the past to their present was the rip in time.

"What are you thinking about?" Azrael's deep voice came from somewhere in the room.

I spotted his figure leaning against the wall at the far corner of the room.

The corner was too dark so only his tall silhouette and piercing red eyes was visible.

Though I couldn't see his face, I could tell his expression was his usual calm indifference even with the mask he was wearing.

"Oh, I had a weird dream" I replied staring at the blanket covering my legs . I was in a reclining position, my back resting against the headboard.

"What was it about?" He asked.

"From what I saw, I deduced it was the event that happened two hundred years ago that caused the world to be replicated" I mused.

Azrael walked over to the side of the bed, his red eyes were even more visible with the shadow casted over his face.

He sat down at the edge of a bed, right next to my legs and turned to face me.

From this angle, the moonlight streaming through the window illuminated his face making him appear exceptionally striking.

My breath caught in my throat as I stared at his features. Red orbs, a pointed nose, thin lips and a sharp jawline. He was breathtaking even when half his face was covered by a mask.

I d

Shifted my gaze downwards when I realized I was staring too much.

"This is a first" he commented on my earlier words.

Something came to my mind at that moment so I decided to ask, "have I been here before?"

"Yes" he replied nonchalantly. "Do you really not remember?"

I shook my head, truly clueless.

"If I have been here before, why hadn't I gone to find the real world instead rather than going back and living like nothing ever happened?" I was confused over this matter. "Wait, how many times had I gone back?"

"Six times. Everytime you go to another dimension, you do so at specific timelines. The first time you experienced the world ending and woke up here, your only thought was of returning back. When you went back you went back at a different age. The same thing happened for the second, third, fourth and fifth time. You mostly acted in pure instinct didn't pay attention to anything else." He patiently explained to me.

"Oh" I suddenly felt embarrassed even when I don't remember any of it.

We sit in comfortable silence for a few minutes. Each of us lost in our thoughts.

"Is finding the real world the only way to save everyone?" I ask quietly.

"It is part of it" he admitted.

"Part of it?x I stared into his red eyes, his gaze was enchanting.

'goddess I could stare at it all day'

"We still have to find a way to defeat the shadows and king Asura" his deep voice brought a shiver down my spine.

He suddenly stood up and reached a hand towards me. "You must be famished"

I accepted his hand, swinging my legs over to the ground to wear my chores and just noticing that I was wearing the same outfit as I was that night.

"Is it alright if I have a bath?" I asked

"No problem" he left me to a door a little way from the bed, "I would get your a change of clothes and leave it on the bed. When you're done, come down and have dinner."

"Thank you" I was about to leave when he leaned down and brought the back of my hand to his lips and placed a soft kisses on it.

"You're welcome" he muttered.

I rushed into into the bathroom, my face already feeling hot.

I stared at my red cheeks in the mirror, patting it to dispel the redness.

'what'
