"Is she a singer?" Jade asks from the couch.
"A pianist," Noel answers. "And a violinist. Some of her work has choral accompaniment, but she just played." Lightheaded with glee, Noel joins Jade on the sofa, reaching over to pull Coppelia into his lap. "I used to own all of her digital albums. She's the only reason I kept playing piano as long as I did."
Jade eyes him as the song floats through the cavernous penthouse. "You play?"
"Not so much anymore." Noel strokes his fingers through Coppelia's thick coat. "Rich kid education. You know how it is." A slightly bitter smile curves his mouth. Not for the first time, he wishes he was more committed, more determined, enough to keep practicing even after he moved out on his own and left behind the expensive instruments he was used to. It's probably too late now.
"Hm," Jade responds noncommittally. "Just her digital albums, though? You never had any physical discs? Not even reprints?"
