Chapter 64 - Chapter 64 Corpse

"Don't overthink it. Everything's been handled, and Thor's fine. But after all, he's the prince of Asgard—and the next king. He's got a lot on his plate. He asked me to give you a message: once he's sorted out some affairs, he'll come find you."

Clark could tell what Jane was thinking just from the look on her face.

"So… when is he coming back to Earth?"Hearing Clark's words made Jane's heart sink a little. But deep down, she really missed that big-hearted, clumsy god of thunder.

"I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be long."Clark really didn't know. But judging by the fact the Bifrost was still operational—and knowing Thor's personality—he figured it wouldn't take long at all.

"Alright."Although disappointed, Jane managed to keep her emotions in check. Then, noticing Clark still standing in the doorway, she quickly stepped aside.

"Come in, Clark. Have a seat."

"No need. Actually, if there's nothing else, I'll head out. I've been gone for a few days now—want to go home."

Seeing the conversation nearing an awkward pause, Clark decided to leave. He was never great at dealing with emotional conversations—especially with women.

With a nod to Daisy and Erik, Clark lifted off and vanished into the sky.

"Being able to fly… that's amazing."Watching his silhouette disappear, Daisy couldn't help but sigh in admiration.

As Clark neared New York, he noticed a violent gunfight on a deserted stretch of highway.A convoy of vehicles was chasing down another armored truck—clearly a high-stakes pursuit.

"Wow, so brazen… America really is a dangerous place," Clark muttered as he observed from above.

At first, he had no interest in interfering. It looked like a fight between two rival groups—and Clark knew, no matter how noble a group pretended to be, every organization had its dark side.

But then, something caught his eye.

Inside the armored truck… was Coulson.

That changed everything.

Clark didn't know who was chasing Coulson, but he wasn't going to stand by while someone he respected was in danger.

Without hesitation, Clark dove—a vertical descent from over 3,000 meters high.

He hit the ground in less than a second.

Instead of braking on approach, Clark used the momentum from his fall to land behind the convoy chasing S.H.I.E.L.D.'s truck.

BOOM!

A thunderous shockwave exploded from the impact. Before anyone could react, a visible blast of air erupted outward from Clark, sweeping across the road like a sonic wave. The pursuing vehicles were tossed into the air like they were made of paper.

And it didn't stop there.

The ground rippled like water, waves of force radiating out from Clark's feet.

Dust and dirt kicked up by the impact turned into a blinding fog, reducing visibility to less than two meters. The sheer scale of it stunned even Clark.

But despite the power, Clark had been careful. His shockwave didn't affect the S.H.I.E.L.D. convoy ahead—Coulson's truck and the rest of his team remained untouched.

Still, the sudden chaos left the agents rattled. Many of them suspected they'd just been hit by a cruise missile.

But no one dared stop—the mission was too important.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM BOOM BOOM—!

Vehicles came crashing down from the sky one after another, slamming into the ground.

"Stop!"Coulson, realizing something major had just happened behind them, ordered the convoy to halt.

But before stepping out, he warned the driver to stay alert."If anything looks wrong—just drive. Don't wait for me."

Though the frost giant cargo was important, Coulson couldn't ignore the possibility that something—or someone—had just intervened. After witnessing Thor's battle with the Frost Giants, he no longer assumed the world was as simple as he'd once thought. Now, anything unusual got his full attention.

But just as he stepped out of the truck, a gust of wind surged from the fog behind them. The wind carried so much dust that Coulson had no time to speak—he just raised his coat to shield his face.

And just as quickly as it came, the wind died down.

As the haze cleared, Coulson saw someone very familiar stepping through the fading dust.

"Clark? What are you doing here? I thought you were in Asgard. How'd you get back so fast?"

Clearly, Coulson hadn't expected this sudden reunion.

"I just got back. I was heading home when I spotted your convoy."Clark made a quick gesture as he spoke—but Coulson understood right away.

"Thank you. Looks like someone leaked our route…"Coulson glanced at the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents nearby. He couldn't tell how many might be compromised.

"What are you transporting to New York?"Clark's eyes had already picked up on the cargo: the frozen corpses of Frost Giants—creatures he had personally fought.

"Someone wants them. We couldn't say no."

Coulson gave a subtle glance around, then lowered his voice.

"Originally, the Director wanted us to 'accidentally' lose these bodies en route. But… someone beat us to it. The agent in charge of the disposal got killed. Then we were ambushed."

Coulson eyed Clark.A bold idea struck him.

Maybe Clark could finish the job.

"Wait… you're asking me to destroy these Frost Giant corpses?"Clark couldn't believe it. He'd always thought Coulson was a decent guy—but this request made him feel like he'd suddenly turned into one of the Men in Black.

"No one's going to stop you, right? And besides—you don't want these corpses falling into the wrong hands, do you?"

"If they study them… who knows what they'll create. You live in New York too. If something goes wrong, people will remember you."

Coulson knew his request wasn't ideal. But he'd rather have Clark incinerate the corpses here and now, than risk some secret lab experimenting on them later.

Better a clean slate—than another disaster.
