Chapter 63 - Chapter 63 Message

"No—!"Thor didn't even have time to say anything more. The sudden burst of acceleration forced him to swallow his words. Before he could adjust to the speed, Nidavellir was already in sight. In just three seconds, Clark had carried Thor across over 100 kilometers, returning to Nidavellir.

"C-Clark, that was too fast... whew."Even someone with Thor's physique couldn't handle the sudden jump from a few hundred meters per second to tens of thousands of meters per second.

"Thor, you need to train more. You're looking kind of weak—haha."What could Clark say? Apologize? Not likely. So he laughed and teased instead.

After that experience, Thor insisted on flying himself, wielding his hammer instead of letting Clark carry him.

Clark didn't follow Thor, though. He flew solo to the rainbow circle on Nidavellir. He wanted to fully recharge his energy suit before heading out.

"Thor, I'm heading back. Want to come along? Jane's still waiting for you, you know."

Once back on Nidavellir, Clark had no intention of following Thor to Asgard. He planned to return directly to Earth.

"Leaving already? Don't want to take a stroll through Asgard?"

"Nah, I've been away long enough. Time to go home."Clark shook his head and turned down Thor's offer. He'd already accomplished his goal here, so sightseeing didn't matter.

"Alright. You go ahead. I still have things to deal with in Asgard. Once I'm done, I'll go find Jane… Loki's situation is still uncertain, and Frigga's not in a good mood. Not the best time for a visit."Thor had originally thought about going back to Earth with Clark. But with Loki missing and their mother worried, this wasn't the moment to leave. So he decided to head to Earth later—and asked Clark to deliver a message instead.

"Got it."Clark then turned to Heimdall."Heimdall, send me to Midgard, please."

Heimdall simply nodded. With a twist of the rainbow sword in his hand, the Bifrost opened, connecting to Earth.

Whoa.

New Mexico was where Clark and Thor had last left Earth.A shimmering arc of light brought Clark back to the surface.

As he stepped off the Bifrost and watched it slowly fade into the sky, Clark felt a familiar sense of awe.Even though he'd taken the Bifrost multiple times by now, it still felt like a miracle.

There's a saying:"The more you know, the less ignorant you are."Clark was living proof of that. After reaching speeds of 34 km per second, he now had a deeper understanding of speed and distance.

Now he realized something important:The Bifrost isn't really about space teleportation. It works by accelerating the person so fast that they outrun time itself. At that point, time becomes irrelevant.

That's why, during Bifrost travel, there's always a moment of acceleration.Unlike other teleportation methods in the Marvel universe—like a sorcerer's portal or the Space Stone, which simply connect two places directly—the Bifrost forces acceleration.

Clark, capable of physically flying at supersonic speeds, could vaguely sense the true mechanics behind it.Most people thought the Bifrost was just a tunnel you walked in one end and came out the other. But in reality, it was more like this:

If a plane could prioritize speed over time, and fly thousands of kilometers instantly, then no matter how far the journey, the passengers would feel like they arrived right after takeoff.

Clark even remembered a scene from Thor: Ragnarok. Both Thor and Loki had fallen off the Bifrost, but Thor arrived on Sakaar days later, even though he fell seconds after Loki. That was because they had disabled the Bifrost's time-defying acceleration—leading to delayed arrival.

Clark had a hunch:If he ever reached faster-than-light speed, he might be able to recreate the Bifrost effect himself.

While Clark stared into the sky, pondering the workings of the Bifrost, a convoy approached from the distance.

Clark turned around and saw the vehicles—each marked with a familiar eagle emblem.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Looking closer, Clark noticed it wasn't Coulson leading the group this time—it was Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, whom he'd met once before.

"Where's Coulson? Isn't he in charge here?"Clark knew Coulson was usually hands-on. If he'd been nearby when the Bifrost activated, he definitely would've come to investigate.

"He had some business back in New York. I'm in charge now. Not that it matters—this place is being decommissioned anyway. The hammer's gone."

Upon recognizing Clark, Hawkeye relaxed a little.Truthfully, when S.H.I.E.L.D. detected Bifrost-like energy again, Hawkeye had worried it might be another 084 incident.

Although he was one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top combat assets, Clint wasn't exactly a big fan of conflict. In fact, he'd already made plans to retire in two years, and was hoping things would stay peaceful until then.

Even though Clark was now considered an ally, Hawkeye wasn't about to spill any secrets.Like where Coulson really was—escorting a shipment of frost giant corpses to New York.

"By the way, do you know where Dr. Jane Foster is?"After the pleasantries, Clark remembered Thor's request—he needed to check in with Thor's girlfriend before heading to New York.

Meanwhile…

"Jane, I just detected a strange energy particle surge."At Jane's lab, Erik Selvig had noticed the Bifrost's aftermath in the data.

"Erik! Where?"Jane immediately rushed over, peering at the readings on the detector Erik had set up.

"I'm not sure of the exact location. And honestly, it might not be the Bifrost. Similar patterns can happen during big storms."Seeing Jane so excited, Erik decided to temper her expectations a bit—just in case.

Of course, Jane's excitement was completely understandable.

Everyone knew that if Thor had returned to Asgard, war with Jotunheim might break out.And war meant death. Jane was terrified Thor might be one of the casualties.

So when she saw signs that might be the Bifrost, she desperately hoped it was him. That would mean he was alive.

"Hey Daisy, do you still have access to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s satellite systems?"Erik suddenly remembered something Director Coulson had once said:If Jane's lab ever needed extra help, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be willing to share resources.

After all, Jane had been the only one to predict the Bifrost's reappearance last time.S.H.I.E.L.D. had a lot of respect for her lab and their technology, so they didn't mind offering some support.

"I do… but I don't think we'll need it."

"Hm?"Jane and Erik both turned toward Daisy, puzzled.

"Hi. Good afternoon."A familiar voice interrupted them.

Jane looked up—and there he was.

Clark. He was back.

"Clark, you're here…"Jane glanced behind him—instinctively hoping to see someone else.

But when she didn't… an uneasy feeling began to rise in her chest.
