Seeing Arya pouting, Aries laughed lightly and then said, "It's nothing much but my investigation hadn't yielded much result."
"Oh? It's rare for the famous journalist Aries to be unable to get the news in time." Arya looked surprised.
"Don't act so exaggeratedly." Aries shook her head and looked at Arya up and down. "Have you heard of the mutants?"
Arya's heart skipped a beat when she heard Aries' words, but she still nodded. "I know the mutant's theories. One of the reasons why the International War happened is because of this research breakthrough… at least, that's what the rumor said."
"There are many reasons why the International War broke out." Aries shook her head.
Arya smiled faintly.
Who knew the truth after a few decades?
But she had no intention to tear up Aries' words and continued, "There's a special substance among the radioactive that when encounter human's cell, it would not cause irreparable damage but instead allowed us to unleash the true potential. Unfortunately, only one among a billion of people had this special opportunity and to find that person, a country directly detonated the nuclear bomb in a populated city."
"However, whether it's true or not, no one knew. So far, every result of radioactive exposure that's known to the public is to create a 'monster' and people will die within a short period of time."
Aries nodded in appreciation. "Even if you didn't go to school, your knowledge is quite solid, Scorpio."
Arya only glanced at Aries.
She had graduated from school, thank you.
Of course, these words couldn't be said out loud because she knew very well that on the surface, her age is only 14 years old.
"My mission is related to this research project that another organization has been doing. It's said that there's a preliminary result… but it's hard to find their tail." Aries shook her head in disappointment.
Many people really wanted to see whether this research would succeed or not.
But they didn't want to pay the price.
Because the terrible consequences of being exposed to the radioactive would only grant them early death. Especially during the early period after the International War was over… the medical condition was extremely poor.
Many people died not because of being killed by others but because of disease and sickness that followed the International War.
"I don't know much about these things…." Arya shook her head.
"Well, you're just a kid."
"I'm not!"
Seeing Arya looked like a cat whose tail has been stepped on again, Aries chuckled. "If you ever heard about any mutant experiments that succeed or someone having supernatural power… I think that the Boss will be pleased with you."
Arya only smiled. "That'll require exceptional luck. I don't think that I'm that lucky."
Aries didn't care too much about Arya's answer. She did feel a bit depressed because this mission was really hard.
"I'll be going first. Don't forget to go there after it's done." Aries smiled and then walked out.
"I know~."
The two of them might behave intimately and looked like they were a pair of close sister, but only these two people knew how much truth is there between their interaction.
Mixing truth and falsehood, isn't it how their lives have always been?
But it's indeed very interesting.
Arya continued to sit down and then walked to the cupboard and took the tea and glasses there. Since they were going to go back later, she should prepare some tea for hospitality.
'But even if I know one of them is undercover, I'll not report it.'
Due to her action, it was getting harder for undercover to enter the organization. They were either found on the spot or caused suspicions so they could only retreat in time.
While they definitely didn't come from the same place as hers, but Arya didn't really want to see many people dying because of her.
So after finding out that they're undercover, she will decisively terminate the hypnosis, giving him the chance to escape as fast as possible. Thankfully, most of them were able to escape.
It was just…
Some of them were unlucky.
They were not good enough and destined to fail.
Since they have decided to take on this path, they should have the consciousness to be prepared to die.
It was just…
A bit regretful.
