Arthur and Lancelot watched as the behemoth of bones simply crumbled apart before them.
'Just how much strength is that woman hiding…though I'd expect a goddess to be that strong at least.'
Arthur picked up the sword of the broken oath and walked back into the huge corridor that lead into the throne room. Lancelot followed behind him. The corridor was eerily quiet. In fact, there was simply, nothing. No noise, no creatures. And weirdest of all. No hole in the wall. Arthur looked at Lancelot.
"This isn't right."
Lancelot nodded.
"It's good to know you aren't a complete buffoon. To notice such a simple thing…"
Arthur ignored the remark. The mana in the air was thick. Like it was trying to wring him out by the neck.
'Some kind of spell. I assume. The only thing we have to do is find the source.'
Arthur looked around the corridor and carefully took a few steps forward. Lancelot followed behind him. Then they took a few more. And absolutely nothing happened. A dagger appeared in Lancelot's hand with a shimmering golden light, he then threw it at the window. But it bounced off. Like there was an invisible layer of magic protecting it.
"I believe, we are trapped."
'What an insightful response…'
Arthur sighed and jogged towards the throne rooms door. His hand didn't feel cold steel when he put his hand on it. Rather a layer of thick mana. Arthur turned around and regrouped with Lancelot. Lancelot spoke out once they had gathered near the window.
"It shouldn't be too hard to pierce the barrier. If we combine our strengths—"
Suddenly. They heard loud booming coming from the other end of the hallway. Which was shrouded in darkness. Then that booming turned into the sounds of a horses hoove against the floor of the corridor. As well as the rattling of bones. Arthur and Lancelot looked down the corridor. As a hoof of bones emerged from the darkness. And then came a horse. Or at least, the skeleton of one. Clad in a black armor. But there was no rider. And the horse simply neighed before clopping past Arthur and Lancelot, who looked at each other, their faces riddled with confusion.
But that distracted them from the true threat, a man clad in black armor burst out of the shadows with a flaming sword. Arthur was able to summon the sword of the broken oath in time and managed to momentarily pause the attack. The man clearly wasn't human, he was incredibly tall and lanky. But was able to wield a hulking flaming great sword with a single hand and relative ease. The sword was almost as big as Arthur himself.
A hollow voice reverberated from the inside of the man's armor while he dashed backwards.
"…it's true. You do remind me of an old friend…"
'What the hell is this guy on about…? Whatever. If he trapped us in here, then I assume all I have to do is beat him. The horse charged into Lancelot, seemingly trying to separate him from the two as Arthur used his imitation of the pendragon augment. Bursting forward with a flash of blue lightning. Fling his sword forward at the large knight. He was met with no luck.
"You certainly do remind me of him…but your moves are sloppy. Such an unenlightened soul…I truly pity you."
Arthur attempted to swing again. But the flaming sword cleaved through his arm. The flames momentarily pausing his regeneration. Arthur bit down on his tongue.
'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! This hurts a lot more than I thought it would. Come on, demon! Help me out here!'
