After Chinya left, Raiga Kurosuki immediately suggested, "Daiki, we've been eating terribly these past few days. Now that we're about to get two million ryo, let's go treat ourselves to a good meal!"
Yahiko enthusiastically agreed, "Makes sense! Let's go!"
After returning to Konoha, Chinya withdrew two million ryo from his personal stash, scribbled a note, and summoned a beast to carry the money to Yahiko's group on Tonton Street.
Three days later, on a bench at Tonton Street, three barely-human-like creatures slumped lifelessly.
These three "humans" were none other than Yahiko, Pakura, and Raiga Kurosuki.
Three days ago.
After Chinya left, Yahiko and his companions went straight to a high-end sushi restaurant to celebrate their soon-to-arrive two million ryo organization funds.
After stuffing themselves silly, they had spent a full ten thousand ryo.
The money Chinya provided plus what Yahiko personally carried amounted to only eleven thousand ryo.
In one single meal, they blew through ten thousand ryo.
Now they had only one thousand ryo left between them.
When Yahiko and the others walked out of the sushi restaurant, they were completely dazed.
Given that Tonton Street lay a two-day journey from Konoha, a round-trip would normally take four days—three if they pushed themselves hard.
In other words, this one thousand ryo needed to last at least three days.
But even the cheapest bowl of ramen on Tonton Street set you back a hundred ryo. Three meals a day for three people added up to nine hundred ryo per day. With just one thousand ryo in their pockets, they could barely survive one day, then would have to starve for two more.
Actually, with some serious penny-pinching—like splitting one bowl of noodles between the three of them—they might've barely made it through all three days.
But Tonton Street was packed with casinos.
So the trio decided to gamble, hoping to turn their luck around—from bike to motorbike—and headed straight to a casino to bet everything.
But the result was obvious—otherwise the three wouldn't be lying on this bench like discarded rags.
If it weren't for waiting on Chinya's summoned beast, they'd have already gone out hunting by now.
Rubbing her growling stomach, Pakura asked, "Hey, Daiki, when is our leader getting the funds sorted?"
Yahiko replied weakly, "No idea."
Raiga Kurosuki murmured listlessly, "Daiki, push him a little."
Sighing, Yahiko said, "I already checked with him. He says the summoned beast is on its way and we can't rush it anymore—he seemed to notice something, and I'm afraid of getting scolded."
Raiga Kurosuki sighed bitterly, "Back in my day, I was an elite jonin of Kirigakure and one of the Seven Swords of the Bloody Mist. To fall this far... What a huge drop indeed."
Yahiko and Pakura both sighed together.
At that moment, a chilling, sinister voice echoed out, "You three look like complete losers. You're really Lord Chinya's companions?"
Yahiko, Pakura, and Raiga Kurosuki suddenly jumped off the bench, eyes glowing with eerie green light, staring fixedly at the small green snake on the ground.
The little green snake was so frightened by their ghost-like gazes that it scooted back a step.
"Why are you three trash staring at me like that? Show some respect to your master!"
Yahiko grabbed the small green snake and demanded, "You're Chinya's summoned beast, right? Hand over the money now!"
Aoda thrashed wildly in Yahiko's hand, "Let me go, you blond loser!"
Pakura murmured, "Snake... should be edible, right?"
Raiga Kurosuki swallowed hard, "Of course! I've eaten it before. Tastes great!"
Aoda's tiny eyes widened in confusion.
It finally understood—the three of them were absolutely crazy, actually planning to eat it.
But as a snake, it knew how to read the situation, "Wait! I came here to bring you money! If you eat me, the cash disappears!"
Yahiko and the others instantly sobered up. They quickly placed Aoda on the ground and grinned at it like it was royalty, apologizing, "We'd never want to eat you—it was a misunderstanding. Where's the money? Hurry up and give it to us."
"Wait a second!"
Aoda's stomach churned, then it spat out a slimy scroll. "The money's inside this scroll, you three idiot bastards who try to eat snakes!"
Before Yahiko and his companions could react, Aoda turned into smoke and vanished into thin air.
The three stood there stunned for a moment.
"Did we just get insulted by a snake?"
"It wasn't just now," another answered. "It started calling us useless from the beginning."
"That's going too far!"
They were pissed off but could do nothing about it.
Aoda made a quick escape back to Ryuchi Cave after getting insulted.
There was nothing the three of them could do to vent their anger.
However...
The three stared excitedly at the sticky scroll lying on the ground.
Ignoring the gooey mucus covering it, Yahiko immediately unrolled the scroll and released the seal.
A massive pile of cash burst forth.
Yahiko, Pakura, and Raiga Kurosuki all grinned stupidly in delight.
But they were standing in the middle of the street. The sudden appearance of such a huge sum drew the attention of everyone nearby.
Tonton Street was a melting pot of rogues and lowlifes. As soon as they caught sight of so much money, they gathered around like wolves catching the scent of fresh meat.
Seeing one person reaching toward the money, Raiga Kurosuki immediately drew his Lightning Sword Raiga, crackling with electricity, and slashed at him.
Luckily, Raiga didn't intend to seriously injure anyone—otherwise, that man's arm would've been gone.
Raiga shouted menacingly, "Touch this money and you're getting a funeral!"
Realizing he wasn't someone to mess with, the onlookers backed off unwilling to invite trouble.
By then, Yahiko and Pakura had already collected all the money.
Now that they had money, Yahiko, Pakura, and Raiga Kurosuki stood tall and proud, declaring confidently, "Let's go! Let's get something good to eat—something expensive!"
...
Konoha.
Kushina Uzumaki asked Chinya, "Chinya, what's wrong with you? Why are you wearing such a gloomy look?"
Chinya forced a small smile, "I don't know why, but I have a really bad feeling about something."
Kushina sat beside Chinya and whispered, "Is it your organization again? You said those three were strong enough. There shouldn't be anything to worry about, right?"
"Since I'd promised Kushina Uzumaki not to keep anything hidden anymore, Chinya had already told her about the Xiao organization.
This included our recent visit to Tonton Street.
Chinya shook his head. 'It's not their skills I'm worried about—it's how quick they are to blow through cash. Not even a day after I left Tonton Street, Yahiko pinged me on the ring and asked when the next funds were coming in. But I'd just handed them over eight thousand taels and made it clear it should last at least three or four days. He really shouldn't have hit me up that soon.
So yeah, my guess is they burned through all the money way too fast, which is why they're asking again so soon.'
Kushina Uzumaki smiled and said, 'Relax, maybe you're just stressing over nothing.'
Chinya nodded. 'Yeah, maybe. After all, besides Yahiko, Pakura and Raiga Kurosuki do seem pretty solid.'
