I couldn't take it anymore and quickly shoved a bowl of soup toward him, cutting off the conversation. "Please eat, just eat. Have some soup. Let's not discuss this right now."
"Grandma, you and Auntie really don't need to keep asking. I have my own plans. I'll think everything through carefully before I decide anything."
I tried to shield both sides, desperate to just get through this meal without more interrogation.
Auntie seemed to realize that even with Grandma's help, they were no match for Mack's composure. She immediately backed down. "Of course, of course. You two should eat before everything gets cold."
Thank God.
I stole a glance at Mack and let out a quiet sigh of relief before returning to my soup.
He caught my look, but his eyes held only amusement. No awkwardness or stress whatsoever.
With his privileged upbringing, he'd been handling high-pressure situations since childhood. Always confident, always steady, always completely in control.
