Nathaniel was impressed that they were both thinking in the same direction.
"Actually, I was going to suggest that. It's been hours since we've been here and I just got reports from the mansion that Griffin had refused to eat anything since he got home."
Kendrick's heart sank at this report. "He must be worried sick for his mother."
"Yes. They always share a meal together except the b..." Nathaniel quickly caught himself before he spilt the beans. "Except she is really busy or at work."
Kendrick didn't take note of the hesitation in Nathaniel's voice as he affirmed.
"Don't worry, I'll talk to him and get him to eat something."
"Sure. But I must warn you, Griffin is not your everyday four-year-old." Nathaniel hinted in a serious tone. "He's very hard on trusting people and might give you a tough time. But you're likely to win him over if you persevere. And since you are his biological father, that might be a bonus for you."
