The next day, they returned to the academy.
Alysa said, "Well, that was a fun little trip."
Liebe said, "Yeah."
Alysa said, "You sure are happy."
Liebe said, "Guess I am. And about the thing you wanted… I think we can make it happen somehow."
Alysa said, "How?"
Liebe said, "Haven't figured that part out yet. Well, looks like class is starting."
Alysa said, "By the way, have you heard about the new professor?"
Liebe said, "Ohhh, I forgot—you guys killed Rayleigh."
Alysa said, "Yeah, but a new history teacher does sound interesting. Wait, didn't the Captain say she will be joining the academy as a professor? Any chance…?"
Liebe said, "You kidding? Gelda being a history professor makes sense. My mother being *a* history professor makes sense. Mother being a combat-related subject professor also makes sense. But Mother being a history professor doesn't make sense in the slightest."
Alysa said, "Yeah, you're right."
Lumos said, "What are you two talking about?"
Hedin said, "Tell us—we're interested."
Liebe said, "Is Licht awake or not?"
Lumos said, "He is still sleeping."
Liebe said, "Great. Just great. It isn't even first period yet and the dude is dead asleep."
Alysa said, "Let's call Iris—she'll solve the problem."
Liebe said, "But her class is also starting."
As Liebe shook Licht gently and said, "Licht, wake up, dude. Wake up."
Licht said, "Don't make me wake up."
Liebe said, "Dude, a new professor is coming. We should stand when they enter as respect—since I'm the Fleet Admiral and you are an Admiral, you know."
Licht said, "You have some nerve talking about respect after using my sleeping body as a sponge."
Liebe said, "You know how—"
Licht said, "Alysa told me. After begging."
Liebe said, "I'm sorry for your loss of dignity."
Licht said, "I lost my dignity three days ago."
Liebe said, "If it makes you feel any better, only about 3 ml went into your mouth."
Licht said, "It went into my mouth?"
Liebe said, "Oh, frick—you weren't supposed to know that."
Licht said, "No wonder everyone was calling me 'the one bathed in yellow liquid.'"
Liebe said, "In Eldrie's defence, I would like to state that Eldrie was dehydrated since we were like that for nine hours."
Licht said, "I don't care."
Liebe said, "I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but… did you like it?"
Licht said, "What the f*** is wrong with you?"
Liebe said, "I'm sorry. I'll just let you sleep."
Licht said, "You better."
As Liebe went to his seat beside Alysa, Alysa said, "So, how bad is it?"
Liebe said, "If everyone dying was an 8, right now he's at a 10."
Alysa said, "That is bad. Guess we should make something he likes."
Liebe said, "Sure."
As the new professor entered the class, Liebe and Alysa's jaws went wide open.
Liebe said, "Is that—"
Alysa said, "That looks like—"
The professor said, "I'm Professor Lilith Faust."
Liebe said, "Captain? What are you doing here?"
Lilith said, "I told you yesterday. 'I'm your mother, and what I may have done in the past decade may be unforgivable, but I will be there for you—even if it means being a professor at the Academy as well as being a Captain. I will be there for you. I will be doting on you, and I will show favoritism as a mother just towards you. I will be there for dinner, and I will be there whenever you go to bed, just to tuck you in. I won't let you be alone again.'"
Liebe said, "Thank you, Captain, but this level of extreme is unnecessary."
Alysa raised her hand and said, "Professor, I have a question."
Lilith said, "Go ahead."
Alysa said, "Am I also applicable for the doting and head pats?"
Lilith said, "Of course you are. And Licht… partially. Everyone else, I'm sorry, but I'm failing you."
Everyone said, "Huhhhhhh?!"
Liebe said, "I didn't mean this level of favoritism!"
Lilith said, "You didn't?"
Liebe said, "Oh, hell no."
Someone raised their hand. Lilith said, "Go ahead, someone I don't care about."
The student stood up and said, "Ma'am, are you actually here to teach or spoil the half-breed?"
Lilith said, "Call Liebe a half-breed again, and the words 'half-breed' will be engraved onto your tombstone."
As he stood up sweating, Lilith said, "Any more suicidal—I mean, curious—students?"
Lumos and Hedin were laughing their guts out. Hedin said, "This is gold!"
Lumos said, "Scary, but still gold."
Liebe said, "You two done laughing?"
Hedin said, "Not yet."
Lilith said, "You two."
As Hedin and Lumos stood up, Lilith said, "What's so funny?"
Hedin said, "Nothing much, Ma'am."
Liebe stood up and said, "You two, sit down. They are my friends, Captain. Please don't pick on them."
Lilith said, "Your friends, huh? Now give me your full names."
As she noted their full names in her notebook, Lilith said, "It's good to see you two are friends with Liebe."
Hedin said, "He actually became friends with us, Ma'am."
Lilith said, "Okay. Also, sit down and feel free to ask me for help if you need anything."
Hedin and Lumos said, "Of course, Ma'am."
Lilith said, "Now, any more questions?"
One student stood up and said, "Will you just talk or actually teach us history?"
Lilith said, "What are you, in your late 90s? But since you asked, I will finish your entire syllabus by today."
Everyone said, "How?!"
Liebe said, "Please don't."
Alysa said, "She might actually do it."
Hedin said, "What are you talking about?"
Lumos said, "Now I'm curious."
Liebe said, "Don't be."
Lilith said, "History is easy. It's just someone doing something, something, something, and here we are in the present."
Lumos and Hedin lost it again. Hedin said, "I think we should vote to make your mom the new homeroom teacher."
Liebe said, "Please don't."
After the class ended, Lilith said, "Bye, everyone. And Liebe, remember to eat your lunch. Alysa and I worked hard on it."
Liebe said, "Of course, Mom."
Lilith said, "Now that's more like it."
As Lilith left, Hedin and Lumos said, "Sorry, Liebe—we doubted you."
Liebe said, "Doubted what?"
Hedin said, "We knew you were a half-breed, so you had some relationship to a noble family. But you are the biological first son to the strongest individual in Eldoria and one of the 25 Princes of Hell—Lilith Faust. We thought that was a bit far-fetched. Now we believe you."
Liebe said, "Dude, my last name is Faust."
Hedin said, "We thought it was some other family."
Liebe said, "I look like Lilith Faust. Of course… no, the resemblance is a bit low since I have beard hair and all."
Lumos said, "We noticed, but we thought that was plastic surgery."
Liebe said, "Guys, I literally have the Faust family's signature magic attribute."
Hedin said, "We thought that was just luck."
Liebe said, "Fine, then. No harm done, I guess."
Hedin said, "But I wanted to ask something."
Liebe said, "Sure, go ahead."
Hedin said, "If your mom is so nice and loving, why did you relinquish your claim to the throne of Faust? You're strong, too. It just doesn't make sense, you know. How mine and Lumos's families are… so why would you throw away something we so desperately want like it's nothing?"
