Chapter 4 - chapter 4: Lectures

Without trying, Ms. Sophia was the type of woman who attracted attention. She exuded mystery and quiet authority, and her lilac eyes seemed to see right through you. Her hair was strikingly purple. Her thick-rimmed glasses only enhanced her beauty, which was a combination of siren and scholar. Her deep crimson lips were a striking contrast to her pale complexion. She moved with effortless grace, each step measured and confident, wearing a fitted purple suit that accentuated her elegant figure. Her magnetic presence attracted attention without requesting it. She was a fascinating paradox—brilliant and untouchable, the kind of woman who lived in the shadows of Ethan's dreams, and more than just a lecturer. He was aware that she was well beyond him.

"Well, I decided to get serious with my life and start attending classes." A lie, but there was no need for her to know the truth about that.

"Hmph, sure. Sit down, and I won't save your ass next time you get into a fight," she said with a haughty tone.

Kael nodded and sank into his chair. He hated being here, and on top of that, he was starving. His body ran on cup noodles and pizza, and without that, he felt like he was going to die. He wanted this lecture to end so he could scavenge for something to eat. He decided to go to sleep to get his mind off the hunger.

He was awakened by a sharp pain on his forehead. He jerked up, scanning for the bastard who dared hit him. His eyes landed on Ms. Sophia, her face scrunched in displeasure, her hand missing the purple highlighter pen she carried. He touched his forehead and brought his hand to his eyes—purple ink stained his fingers. He clicked his tongue.

"What happened to getting serious in class?" she asked, her voice laced with anger.

He didn't want to answer, and luckily for him, he didn't have to.

From the door, a girl walked through—Eve, otherwise known as the campus 'belle', or Ethan's ex. But to Ethan, she went by a variety of names: whore, slut, bitch, just to name a few off the top of his head.

She was beautiful, incredibly so. She had long blonde hair that flowed down to her waist. Her blue eyes glimmered in the sun like jewels. Her lips, a shade of pink, looked softer than clouds; her face was fairer than any other. Her body was nothing to scoff at either. Though not as well-endowed as Sophia, she still held her own—a solid hourglass figure, the ideal 30-70 body. She gazed around the class, her eyes landing on Ethan, and her mood soured. She frowned, closing her eyes as she turned away in disgust.

Ethan felt like jumping out of his chair and choking the bitch right where she stood, but knowing her, it would probably turn her on, he thought.

"And where are you coming from, Miss Geneva?" Sophia asked Eve, shifting her focus from Ethan.

"I'm sorry I'm late. I was up last night doing the work you gave me, and I was tired, so I slept in," she replied in an angelic voice.

Kael scoffed. Bullshit. That parasite never did any of her own work. She had a roster of goons ready to do her bidding. Hell, if she told them to kill themselves, he was convinced they'd slit their own throats right where they stood.

"Alright, considering you're the only one who did it, I can give you some leeway," Ms. Sophia said, her anger mellowing.

Eve took her seat next to one of her so-called friends, never sparing Ethan a single glance. Meanwhile, Ethan put his head back down, wishing a bus would fall on everyone's heads.

Suddenly, a message blared from the speakers around the school:

*"At 2:30, there will be a campus-wide assembly in the auditorium. Every student is expected to attend, as well as all professors."*

Kael recognized that voice—it was the school chancellor. Great. Just fucking great. Now he had to stay here even longer. He dreaded this day.
