The morning sky was heavy with clouds. The dense forest surrounding their castle made the atmosphere feel even more oppressive.
The five of them emerged from the forest in a luxury car—the latest model Suzy had acquired shortly after its launch. The girl had a deep fascination with all kinds of vehicles, especially cars.
The forest's atmosphere didn't frighten them. After living there for so long, they had grown accustomed to it.
Although they had lived in the human world for centuries and mingled with humans, they were still strangers from different worlds, forced to hide their true identities.
This forest was their safest haven, saturated with magical energy. No human or monster could enter carelessly. They had layered the Misty Forest with numerous magical barriers, especially around their castle.
They lived in the Fog Forest, which bordered the Dark Forest and an ordinary woodland where humans frequently entered to gather firewood or carry out other activities.
For hundreds of years, the five of them had maintained complete control over the Fog Forest. As long as the magical wall they had built remained unbroken, this forest would always be their sanctuary.
"Hey, look! A deer! Don't you want to drink its blood, Yoona? You are a vampire." Bella pressed her face against the car window, staring in amazement at a mother deer and her fawn. She then glanced at Yoona, who was busy stirring her basil porridge.
"Can wild deer blood possibly be as delicious as my basil porridge?" Yoona inhaled the scent of the porridge in her lap and then devoured it with pleasure. No matter the meal, basil leaves were an essential addition to her food.
It had been one month since their university graduation, and they had decided to re-enroll in high school for their daily routine. In total, they had attended one hundred and sixteen schools across various cities and countries, always moving on after graduation to find new experiences.
They returned to their castle each day via a portal gate. Their current home was in a northern Spanish forest, and their new school was an elite high school in Germany. Traveling via portal gates to any corner of the earth was second nature to them, as long as they knew the location and a magical gate was present.
"Haah... School starts again today. Sometimes I get so bored with the repetitive lessons. University was tedious enough, let alone work—that's even worse!" Luna leaned back in her seat, gazing boredly out the window.
"Ha ha, at least it's less boring than staying inside the castle all day!" Suzy chimed in, her focus remaining on the road.
"But don't they say high school is the most fun time? Maybe there will be some new surprises for us," Bella added.
"Well... after this, we have to decide what to do for the next three years!" Yoona sighed heavily, putting the last bite of food into her mouth before letting out a soft burp.
"Maybe we could get jobs. I think that could be pretty fun too," Luna exclaimed excitedly.
"No, let's go to university instead. I heard there's a good one in Paris," Suzy offered.
"Why don't we just go to high school again? I really like the uniforms; I think they're cool," Bella said.
"You guys are so noisy. We don't know what the future holds. I think we should do something more challenging and adventurous," said Liza, who had grown dizzy listening to the others but ended up giving her own opinion.
Liza's words were intriguing, but they weren't entirely free. Many were after them, and straying from their carefully constructed path was akin to a death-defying adventure.
The five of them were not human, so it was natural that they never aged. They would attend school when they grew bored of working, and return to work when they grew bored of school. Who knew how many certificates and diplomas they had collected over their five hundred years?
Their lifespans increased every five centuries, and they would only begin to age normally if they married and had children. Still, they were all blessed with long lives. They could only die if they were killed, struck by a powerful disease, or completely ran out of energy.
"Aish...!" Suzy suddenly slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to an abrupt stop.
"What's wrong?" the others asked in unison, their heads hitting the roof of the car.
"The bridge ahead is out. The car can't cross," Suzy explained, a worried look on her face.
"What are you worried about? If we can't cross, we'll just fly!" Bella raised her hand, and instantly, their car lifted gently into the air and floated across the broken bridge. It was a power others would surely envy.
They were, without a doubt, special girls. Each possessed unique powers and was skilled in magic and spells.
Bella excelled in gravity magic, protective shields, and spatial manipulation. She was also adept at creating various other magical fields and spells.
Luna possessed the power to control water. She could render objects invisible or transparent and could gather information by communicating through any water she encountered.
Liza commanded the power of fire and wind. She could also enchant objects, making them obey her will.
Yoona specialized in illusion magic, making the real seem unreal and the unreal appear real to others. She could also teleport objects—though not herself—anywhere she wished. Although she did not drink blood, she possessed immense magical energy, honed at a magic school. For instance, she could bring inanimate objects to life, giving them the ability to speak like humans.
Unlike the others, Suzy possessed a unique magic known as a charm spell. Those affected by it would instantly forget themselves, losing their senses and wandering away with a dazed, lovesick heart. For example, if an angry person encountered her, they would instantly forget their rage. The stronger the emotion, the more potent her charm magic became. Additionally, Suzy wielded the power of light—as blinding as the sun, yet as soothing as the moon. She could cloud people's minds, leaving them as confused as someone who had just woken from sleepwalking.
They were special girls, blessed with extraordinary powers, and brought together for a reason.
