Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Not a Loli-Con, You Say?

"I'll call you Xiao Cai from now on." Xiao Yan gently patted the cheek of the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python and casually gave her a name. As he gazed at her delicate features that looked almost identical to Queen Medusa, a strange feeling stirred in his chest. He suddenly asked, "You should be able to talk now, right?"

Xiao Cai nodded. In truth, with her level of intelligence, she had long since been capable of speech. However, the suppression from Queen Medusa's soul had kept that ability sealed. Now, thanks to the power of the Transformation Pill, she had not only assumed a human form but also gained the ability to speak naturally.

She opened her mouth, hesitated for a few seconds, then stammered out two words, "Ba... ba..."

When Xiao Yan heard that soft voice, his expression instantly froze in place. 'Shouldn't she be calling me "Master"? Where the hell did "Dad" come from?' He stared blankly at Xiao Cai. 'Did this girl just… take me for her father?'

"Aaah?" Off to the side, Xiao Yao was equally stunned by the term. But the next instant, she seemed to realize many things in a flash. 'No wonder Master treats that little girl so well—it turns out she's the little master!'

"I'm not your dad. I'm your master," Xiao Yan quickly corrected her. He had absolutely no interest in taking on the role of a father, especially since there was no blood relation at all between them. Sure, being called "Dad" by Queen Medusa's spiritual offspring might seem like a rare experience, but if word of that got out, his reputation would definitely be ruined. Not that he wasn't already a bit of a degenerate...

But regardless of how much he tried to correct her, Xiao Cai stubbornly continued to call him "Dad." In the end, he had no choice but to instruct her to revert to her beast form and hide back inside his sleeve. He wasn't ready to suddenly become someone's father. Fortunately, the little python was quite obedient and stopped after just the one slip-up.

With both the Fire Spirit and the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python safely tucked away, Xiao Yan exited the temporary pocket space he had created. The Snake-People had yet to realize that Queen Medusa had vanished, so the area around the island remained peaceful. Not planning to linger, Xiao Yan left the Tager Desert and headed straight for the Black-Corner Region.

During this time, the Xiao Family, led by Xiao Zhan and guided by Qing Lin, had quietly relocated many of its core members to the Xiao Sect. Qing Lin hadn't gone with the others to Jia Nan Academy but had returned to oversee the affairs of the sect as per Xiao Yan's prior instructions. Back in Wutan City, the Xiao Family now consisted only of a few people serving as bait. All the true elites had long been relocated to safety.

Once back at the Xiao Sect, Xiao Yan found a secluded chamber in the headquarters and activated the spatial scroll left by Yao Lao. By now, plenty of time had passed since the old man's departure, and Xiao Yan figured the spatial channel to Starfall Pavilion would be fully constructed. Sure enough, upon activating the scroll, a pitch-black spatial wormhole appeared before him. Passing through it would take him straight to Central Plains.

However, he didn't rush in. The newly formed wormhole still required time to stabilize. Entering prematurely could collapse the channel altogether, and if that happened, there was no way those weaker than a Dou Wang could survive the journey.

He also needed to fetch Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan, who were still at Jia Nan Academy. Xun'er had originally intended to leave with him as well, but an old man named Ling Ying suddenly showed up and kowtowed dozens of times, begging her to stay. She finally relented but insisted on seeing Xiao Yan off.

In the grand hall at the center of Xiao Sect headquarters, a massive black spatial wormhole hovered in midair, emitting strange waves of spatial energy. Everyone present—except for Xiao Yan—looked on in awe. For many of them, wormholes were mere legends. None had imagined Xiao Yan would be capable of such a feat.

"Big Brother, Second Brother, once I'm gone, the Xiao Sect will be in your hands." Xiao Yan turned to Xiao Ding and Xiao Li. Though his strength now far surpassed the powers in the Black-Corner Region, the hidden world beneath Jia Nan Academy had ties to the ancient Tuoshe Emperor. Someone had to remain and keep an eye on it.

Although Hai Bodong appeared loyal, he was still an outsider. Xiao Yan decided it was safer to leave his brothers behind—they had decent managerial skills and were still too weak to venture further. With Black-Corner Region's resources, they could hopefully grow stronger. Just in case, he also left behind a puppet he had crafted using Mo Tianxing's corpse. Enhanced by pill thunder, the puppet was roughly on the level of a Dou Zun and would be more than enough to dominate the region.

As for Yuan Li, she would be accompanying Xiao Yan to Starfall Pavilion but would remain behind temporarily to escort other Xiao Family members safely through the wormhole.

"We'll head through first. Once we've settled in, I'll send people back to guide the rest of you," Xiao Yan instructed again before turning to Hai Bodong. "Old Hai, I'm counting on you."

"Of course." Hai Bodong nodded with a smile. Glancing at the group of stunning girls surrounding Xiao Yan, he muttered inwardly, 'No wonder none of the beauties I sent over caught your eye. Surrounded by girls like these all day, how could you not have a special "interest"?'

"Daddy." Just as Xiao Yan was about to step into the wormhole, a voice rang out from his sleeve. A rainbow-colored little snake shot out, transforming into a small girl mid-air. She wrapped her arms around his waist and sweetly said, "Daddy, I'm hungry."

Everyone froze.

The entire hall turned to look at Xiao Yan, stunned into silence. Even Xun'er, who had snuck out of the academy to see him off, stammered, "Xiao Yan-ge... is she your daughter?"

"How the hell could I have a daughter that old?" Xiao Yan muttered in exasperation.

The women let out small giggles, but the men's expressions were a little more complex. Xiao Ding and Xiao Li silently gave him a thumbs-up. Xiao Yan didn't even have to guess what those two idiots were thinking. Only Hai Bodong was different—when he got a clear look at Xiao Cai's face, he let out a yelp and darted out of the hall like a scared rabbit.

Apparently, the trauma from being sealed away by Queen Medusa for decades still haunted him deeply.
