"Wait… what?" I said, my voice barely escaping my throat.
"Those five men… they had a white van. They took that woman with them," he said.
I couldn't speak.
A storm of thoughts crashed through my mind, and a tidal wave of emotion surged into my heart.
But among the chaos, one thought burned brighter than all the rest—
To kill. To murder. To wipe them from this world.
Not just for taking my mother. Not just for killing my father. But for daring to exist after doing so.
"The police are trying to figure out where they went," he added.
"Bullshit," I whispered to myself.
"Anyway… you have any connection to them?" he asked.
"I'd prefer you didn't know anything about me," I replied coldly.
"I'm sorry, but I think I deserve a little respect," he said.
"And why is that?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"Because I'm sure I'm older than you, punk."
"Oh, really? Couldn't care less," I said, starting to walk away.
"Your parents have abandoned you for sure," he shouted after me.
I didn't hesitate. I ran to him, grabbed him by the shirt, and nearly lifted him off the ground.
"The people you saw in that accident… they were parents to someone, for sure."
"And how the hell would you know that?" he spat.
"Because they were my—" I stopped, breathing sharply. "They were my parents. And those five people? They're scum. Just like you."
I let go and turned away. He stammered, "Wait— I'm sorry—"
"Shut the hell up," I snapped, my voice like broken glass. "I don't need mercy from a piece of shit like you."
NARRATOR
The next day, Sai attended his father's funeral.
He went straight to the police station afterward, desperate for news about his mother. There was none.
The days that followed were empty. He didn't go to school for a week. He didn't sleep for days. And when he finally did… he woke up somewhere he didn't recognize.

Darkness. Infinite darkness. I was lying on the floor—though I couldn't see it.
There was nothing. No sound. No taste. No feelings.
I was alone.
At first, it was… peaceful. I felt like I was both alive and dead at the same time. Nothing existed but me.
Hours—or maybe centuries—passed in that void. Slowly, memories returned.
I was Sai. Sai Shinu. The son of ■ ■ ■ and ■ ■ ■.
NARRATOR
Jiro Ikigai was walking outside while Sai Shinu drifted in that endless void. But something else was about to happen.

"Thank you very much for the coffee," I said as I stepped out of the café.
I didn't even make it ten meters before dizziness washed over me.
The world tilted. And then—darkness.

"I'm back!" I called as I stepped into my home. Silence. Not even a meow.
"Where are you, my little one?" I asked. The answer came immediately. There he was—fast asleep.
"So here you are, sleeping… my little Sai," I whispered, running my fingers through his fur.
Lately, I couldn't keep him out of my head. And that was starting to worry me.
