The rain poured down harder.
“He left. He told me that he’ll be leaving the carriage for you to use, Your Highness,” Uriel said upon returning from seeing Nox’s departure. He was drenched from his hair to his clothes.
“Uriel.” Apollonia, who was lost in her thoughts, raised her head. She mouthed something as though wanting to speak, but then stayed quiet, averting her gaze.
This was very unusual of her. Unlike Uriel, who always checked Apollonia’s every gesture and gaze before deciding to speak or not, she was always composed and confident.
“What’s the matter?” Uriel asked.
Yet, she still refused to meet his eyes.
“…We should return now. Everyone’s searching for you, Your Highness,” he suggested out of concern. “I’ll tie the horse I rode to the carri—”
“Wait.” Apollonia seized his hand just as he was about to leave.
“There’s something I wanted to say…” she trailed off, looking completely different from usual.
