Four pieces of battle armor!
The girl clasped her hands together. Her first soul ring lit up, and a ball of ice shot toward Long Yue.
With the boost from her battle armor, the ice ball reached about one foot in diameter. As it flew through the air, intricate patterns emerged across its surface, shimmering with a deep blue glow.
Right after releasing the ice ball, she sprang forward, pursuing it. Her second soul ring gleamed. A blue light appeared in her palm. Covered in armor, her right hand slammed onto the ice ball.
The ice sphere quivered slightly. Then, in an instant, it expanded—its size doubling. The surface lines grew more vivid, and the core seemed to pulse with an immense surge of energy.
Her third soul ring flashed to life at that moment. The sequence of her soul ring activation was swift and seamless.
This time, both her palms pressed onto the ice ball's surface. Immediately, three-foot-long spikes grew out from the surface of the sphere. The ball ballooned even more, reaching over a meter in diameter, the entire orb now a deep, crystalline blue.
If someone were standing on the competition stage right now, they'd notice that the surrounding temperature had plummeted.
She halted in place. Her fourth soul ring burst with light. Ribbons of dark blue energy streaked through the air, linking to the ball of ice. Then, guided by those light ribbons, her figure vanished. The ice ball abruptly accelerated, cloaked in power and freezing air as it hurtled toward Long Yue.
Long Yue remained where he stood, grinning calmly. From beginning to end, he hadn't moved.
The dueling platform wasn't especially large. In an instant, the massive ice ball—bristling with sharp spikes—was already in front of Long Yue.
And then—
Boom!
Ice shards scattered. The ice ball smashed directly into Long Yue. Spikes drove into his body.
But Long Yue's expression never changed. It was as if he were a statue. And then, the audience witnessed something truly shocking.
The very moment the spiked ice ball collided with Long Yue, the spikes shattered. Then the ball itself cracked and crumbled, as though it had struck a towering mountain. It shattered bit by bit, vanishing into icy powder.
Just then, the girl reappeared, her figure emerging as all the lingering cold air surged toward her. From the audience's perspective, a vortex of frigid energy gathered around her, pulling in the frost into her raised palm.
A triumphant smile curved her lips.
Everything before had been misdirection. Her real attack was the one about to strike—Coldheart Palm!
Her hand, encased in blue battle armor, darkened further into a profound azure. The chilling energy within it surged as she struck Long Yue square in the chest.
Well, not squarely—she hesitated for a moment and adjusted the strike to his right chest instead of the left.
Puff!
A soft sound rang out. Long Yue still hadn't moved, but her body froze mid-motion.
Four soul skills, layered and amplified, all culminated in this one palm. She truly believed she could freeze a mountain if she had to.
But Long Yue didn't budge. His smile never faltered. He tilted his head slightly and looked at her.
"Is that all?"
She stared at him, stunned. Then she looked at her own hand, resting on his unmoving chest.
"You… you're not hurt?"
'Impossible! How is this possible? He should've turned into an ice statue!'
"You didn't hit my left chest. You're a good girl. Admit defeat now." Long Yue reached out and patted her head.
She stood there blankly, utterly confused. She was certain all her soul power had gone into that strike. There'd been no backlash, no resistance, which should have meant a clean hit. So why… why did it feel like nothing happened?
Long Yue tilted his head again, grinned, and exhaled. A plume of icy-blue mist puffed from his mouth, swirling upward.
"Your soul power? It's right here!"
"I… I admit defeat." The girl bowed respectfully, fully convinced of the overwhelming gap between them.
Thunderous applause erupted. From beginning to end, Long Yue hadn't attacked. He hadn't even released his martial soul.
Long Yue waved to the audience and stepped off the stage with his usual easy-going gait.
Back in the waiting area, all the students from Shrek Academy were silent—except for Gu You, who continued to meditate calmly.
In truth, Gu You's heart was as steady as ever, but he couldn't help noticing something strange. Long Yue's aura, the aura of a Mountain Dragon King… it wasn't right.
'Something's off. Seriously off.'
For the first time, Gu You felt pressure. Real pressure—one that came not from raw power, but from the dominance between dragon bloodlines. Without his own Dragon God bloodline, he was certain—he couldn't suppress Long Yue's martial soul. But Long Yue couldn't suppress him either.
'It's my turn.'
Gu You rose as his name appeared on the roster.
"Be careful. That Gu You isn't easy to handle," Long Yue warned.
"We'll see how tough he really is," Su Mu replied with a gentle smile.
Long Yue frowned. It was obvious Su Mu was underestimating his opponent.
Still, he couldn't deny Su Mu had the right to be confident.
Among Monster Academy's Eight Heavenly Kings, Su Mu was ranked third—just behind Long Yue and Fourth Prince Dai Yueyan.
Among his peers, Su Mu was considered unstoppable.
Gu You walked toward the stage at a steady pace. Each step was deliberate, and each one carried a silent yet weighty force.
By the time he stood on the stage, Su Mu was already waiting at the far end. Wearing the signature dark red uniform of Monster Academy, his long black hair cascading down his back, Su Mu exuded a calm, scholarly elegance—one rarely seen at his age.
When he laid eyes on Gu You, his expression changed. He grew serious.
'This guy… what a powerful presence.'
The referee stepped forward. There was no need to repeat the rules. He simply raised his hand.
"Begin!"
Boom!
Su Mu's body erupted with light. Countless fragments coalesced around him, forming a full suit of battle armor. He activated his full strength the moment the battle began.
Cheers shook the arena. With a Monster Academy member on the field, anticipation was always high. And Su Mu wasn't just any member—he was a Soul King.
But Gu You didn't change expression. He casually raised a hand.
Before anyone could react, a dragon-shaped shadow surged up from the ground beneath Su Mu.
And devoured him.
