Chapter 234 - Chapter 234: Capable of Slaying Gods

Everyone thought that Su Mu would be able to block that attack with ease, but no one expected the outcome to leave them stunned.

Once the dragon shadow faded, Su Mu lay flat on the ground, his clothes gone, body entirely exposed, prompting several girls in the crowd to scream. All around him were shards from his shattered battle armor.

"Huh?"

Some audience members rubbed their eyes hard to make sure they weren't hallucinating.

The third-ranked powerhouse of Monster Academy—just collapsed like that?

Long Yue stared solemnly at the scene. Su Mu shouldn't have released his battle armor at the start. He had personally experienced the terrifying nature of Su Mu's martial soul and soul skills.

Su Mu's martial soul was the Nine-tailed Fox, a top-tier and extremely rare martial soul. Foxes were considered one of the most intelligent species among animals, and the nine-tailed fox was a symbol of wisdom. It was born with powerful abilities and an extraordinarily keen sense for the elemental forces of the world.

Nine-tailed Fox soul masters were incredibly rare. In fact, there was virtually no inheritance of this martial soul on the Douluo Continent. Su Mu's ancestors were natives of the original Star Luo Continent, and his martial soul once held great influence in that land.

Each time his soul ring cultivation increased, he would grow one more tail, and his power would leap in quality. Every tail represented one unique ability.

And each of those abilities was utterly absurd—and could be used simultaneously.

His first soul skill: an aura-type ability—white in color—Slowing Aura.

Second aura: a seven-colored ring—Soul Power Stripping Aura.

Third: dark green—Reversal Aura.

Fourth: black—Devouring Aura.

Fifth: golden—Destruction Aura...

Ancient legends claimed that a Nine-tailed Fox Soul Master who attained nine soul rings could slay gods!

Gu You walked off the stage with a calm face. No matter how strong a fox was, it was still just a fox.

The entire Star Luo City was in an uproar. One of Monster Academy's Eight Heavenly Kings, Su Mu—ranked third—had actually lost. And not just lost, but was defeated instantly.

A control-type soul master was supposed to counter a power-type opponent, and Su Mu was even known as Monster Academy's strongest controller. Yet he had been crushed like this. In an instant, Gu You's name spread like wildfire—not just throughout Star Luo City, but across the entire Star Luo Continent.

Irrational voices followed, curses and insults flooded the streets. Some even stormed the Star Luo Royal Hotel in protest and had to be forcibly removed by military forces.

Under this growing public pressure, the Star Luo Empire's home advantage, and Monster Academy's humiliation, Gu You returned to his room after the match—reportedly to cultivate.

In truth, he was just slacking off and sleeping.

Rather than diminishing the tournament's influence, Gu You's presence only amplified it. The Star Luo authorities didn't intervene or issue statements, instead allowing events to unfold naturally—and even seemed to welcome the chaos.

In a quiet chamber—

Su Mu sat cross-legged on his bed, his expression pained. In front of him, five large tails gently swayed, their fur now smooth and soft. Yet every tail bore deep, bone-deep scars. The most injured tail was more than two-thirds severed, on the verge of breaking completely.

Soft reddish light shimmered along the tails, accelerating their healing—but the pain was clearly unbearable.

Sitting across from Su Mu was a young man with fists tightly clenched—Dai Yueyan, Fourth Prince of the Star Luo Empire, and also one of Monster Academy's Eight Heavenly Kings, known as the Tiger King!

His aura was visibly unstable. For the first time, this prince was truly enraged.

He had only just discovered the severity of Su Mu's injuries. No wonder Su Mu hadn't used his battle armor in the end—doing so might've snapped a tail completely. That would've been a devastating blow.

But losing this match wasn't just a blow to Su Mu. It brought immense pressure to the entire Monster Academy.

In the Star Luo Empire, Monster Academy held prestige, but nowhere near the absolute authority that Shrek Academy commanded on the Douluo Continent. Monster Academy's funding was entirely dependent on the imperial government. After this match, there was no doubt Dai Tianling was not pleased.

"Gu You..." Dai Yueyan's eyes narrowed, cold light flickering within them.

The second round of the individual competition took another two days to complete. Yet again, half of the remaining competitors were eliminated, drastically shrinking the pool of participants. But more eliminations would follow until only 128 contestants remained—at which point the tournament would enter the round-robin phase.

The group stage would be a single round-robin format. The top eight scorers from each group would advance to the final 64, followed by a knockout tournament to determine the final champion.

All told, the schedule was lengthy—anyone aiming for the championship would need to survive nearly twenty matches.

That's why every iteration of the All-Continent Advanced Youth Soul Master Elite Tournament lasted over two months.

Two-on-two and team matches followed similar structures but proceeded faster due to fewer entries.

For the past ten days, Gu You hadn't participated in any more matches. Rumor had it that whenever someone found out they were matched against him, they forfeited on the spot.

In the two-on-two matches, the four Shrek Academy teams performed exceptionally well and all advanced to the round-robin. Unlike the individual tournament, only sixty-four pairs participated in the duo stage, divided into eight groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout round of sixteen.

As for the team battle—there was no contest. With Gu You in the lineup, the opposing academies surrendered immediately.

The tournament entered a "fallow phase" where only a few Monster Academy teams and some bold challengers still dared to compete. Unless the Shrek participant wasn't Gu You, very few opponents even tried to fight.

But regardless of how strong the opponents were, Shrek's students continued to win.

Shrek Academy's reputation exploded.

They were everywhere in the media—front-page headlines, top stories.

"THE WOLF IS HERE"—those three words were plastered across every newsstand in Star Luo City.

Dai Tianling smiled as he looked at his children seated beside him. He was in high spirits.

National affairs kept him extremely busy, and leisure time was rare. But he was a man who deeply valued family. His favorite activity was dining with his children. Watching them grow, he couldn't help but feel a mixture of pride and the creeping sadness of aging.

Dining with him today were his fourth son Dai Yueyan and his beloved daughter, Dai Yun'er.

Dai Yueyan maintained a calm expression and respectfully...
