Chapter 232 - Chapter 232: You Dare to Insult

He just couldn't accept it.

'If only I had one more chance… If I could use my battle armor and go head-to-head with Gu You for real, even if I lost, at least it would be a fight worth losing.'

But in this world, there was no such thing as rewinding time. What was done, was done.

After a few days of frustration and discouragement, he finally pulled himself together. After all, becoming a One-Word Battle Armor Master at this age was something that only a handful across the continent could claim. Compared to others his age, his mental resilience was still commendable.

'Stand tall. Don't stay down!' he kept telling himself. He also wanted to see just how far that guy who had defeated him could go in this tournament. Not every opponent would underestimate him like he did.

Power-type. Pure strength. Terrifying offense, defense, and reaction speed. That was the evaluation Ling Wuxie gave to Gu You.

The second round of the one-on-one tournament was set to begin today. Compared to the first round, the number of participants had been cut in half, so the matches would proceed faster. In just two days, they would have all the winners.

Early that morning, Ling Wuxie arrived outside the Star Luo Grand Arena. Sixteen massive soul screens displayed the match-ups and results in real time.

All the match pairings were generated by the soul tool system—fair, and entirely unpredictable.

'Where is he? Gu You... That should be his name.'

Ling Wuxie stared unblinking at the screen, looking for those three characters. With his teacher's status, getting tickets wasn't difficult.

Still, with so many names to scroll through, it took him quite a while, and he still hadn't found Gu You.

Just then, the crowd around the arena began to stir.

On the screen, golden text appeared.

All the names had previously been white text on a blue background, but now, certain names had a shimmering golden emblem next to them.

It was a round symbol—small and fierce, shaped like a gaping jaw with fangs.

Ling Wuxie's heart skipped a beat.

'Monster Academy… That's the mark of Monster Academy!' Only their participants were awarded that golden tag of prestige.

A flicker of envy rose in his chest, but then came a thought—if Monster Academy's people ran into the one who had defeated him, they could probably crush him with ease.

The golden emblem was dazzling. The crowd buzzed with excitement.

In the eyes of the people of the Star Luo Empire, Monster Academy was sacred—always had been.

In the first round, Monster Academy's students had been granted byes. It was tradition. Their outstanding performances in every tournament had earned them this privilege.

As Ling Wuxie continued reflecting, a name suddenly caught his eye.

Match 163: Su Mu vs. Gu You.

Both names were followed by their respective registration numbers, but Su Mu's name had that golden monster mark beside it.

'This… looks like it's going to be a good match.'

Ling Wuxie offered a fairly neutral judgment. He didn't know the full extent of Gu You's strength, and he had no idea how well he'd fare against a Monster Academy student.

Meanwhile, Gu You was still sleeping.

Match 163 wouldn't be until noon at the earliest. He had plenty of time.

The second round had begun, and the spectators' enthusiasm hadn't diminished at all. If anything, it had grown even more intense.

The number of matches was down, yes—but every remaining contestant was stronger. That was beyond doubt.

Tickets were more expensive, and the audience was even more eager.

This round would see the Monster Academy students in action. Betting pools had already opened up.

You could bet on how many of them would make it into the top ranks.

You could even bet on which non-Monster Academy candidate might make the top three.

There was no question: in this year's Continental Youth Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament, the Monster Academy students were viewed as practically another species. Their standing on the Star Luo Continent was unquestionable.

"Monster Academy is gonna sweep the top ranks again, huh? Did you place your bets?"

"Of course. I bet on them taking the top eight, no question! Who can even challenge them?"

"Ha! You bet wrong. You heard about that Shrek guy—Gu You? He actually went toe-to-toe in strength with Long Yue! He's easily a contender for top three."

"You dare insult Monster Academy!"

"…Just pretend I never said anything."

Everyone had their own opinions. Discussions and debates were everywhere.

"Look, it's the Dragon Maniac! He's entering the field. Haven't seen him since the last tournament. Back then he was only seventeen and still won the championship and took home a soul bone!"

That's right—Long Yue was entering the arena.

His shiny bald head made him instantly recognizable. His match was scheduled at the center of the entire arena complex.

He was still wearing his red academy uniform, looking like a living flame as he stepped onto the stage.

His opponent was a girl in a blue dress. She looked at him curiously with wide eyes full of admiration.

"Brother Long Yue, hello." She gave a respectful bow.

Long Yue chuckled, "Hello."

"Brother Long Yue, can you let me use all my soul skills before you win? Please?" Her big eyes blinked innocently.

"Alright," Long Yue smiled gently.

Even the referee was speechless, but he said nothing. This was Long Yue—Monster Academy's pride.

"Begin!"

The match officially started.

Just like he promised, Long Yue didn't attack right away. He stood there, smiling at the girl.

She called out, and four soul rings rose beneath her feet as a layer of ice mist swirled into existence.

Ice attribute.

This girl didn't look older than seventeen or eighteen, and having four rings at her age was already impressive.

As she released her martial soul, her bracelet glowed. Four icy-blue pieces of battle armor flew out—right arm, right shoulder, a helmet, and left arm.

Four Pieces of battle armor…
