Chapter 223 - Chapter 223: You Want to Challenge a Dragon Too?

After a series of airborne rolls, the soul train crashed to the ground. But the entire train remained intact under the protection of a silver glow. The earlier explosions had only damaged the surface; the train itself, though marked by multiple fractures, was far from being reduced to rubble like the attackers had expected.

Suddenly, a dazzling silver beam shot straight up into the sky, blasting toward the red mecha that was rapidly descending.

The red mecha moved at incredible speed, like a mirage flashing through the air. It dodged the beam in an instant, appearing several hundred meters away in the blink of an eye.

The roof panels of the soul train burst open, and one figure after another leapt out swiftly.

In the blink of an eye, soul tools of every color blazed into light. A group of mechas shot out from the train as well—the very escorting unit assigned by the Star Luo Empire to protect the diplomatic mission.

Most of these mechas were of the purple tier, with four among them at the black tier. In total, there were over thirty mechas, all soaring into the sky, firing beam after beam to block the enemy's assault.

The attacking mechas were all marked with a grinning skull emblem on their chests, and most disturbing of all, their eye sockets glowed with eerie green flames.

Cai Yue'er rose into the air, a silver moon hovering above her, locking her aura onto the enemy's red god-tier mecha. It was her protective field that had prevented the soul train from being entirely obliterated.

But even so, many members of the diplomatic corps were injured from the soul train's earlier flips and crashes.

"You help the injured. I'll go meet those bastards with Elder Cai" Gu You's gaze sharpened as a violet-gold light flared across his body. In the next moment, he launched himself into the air with explosive speed.

Wu Zhangkong raised his hand as if to stop him, but halfway through, he let it drop, silent.

In the distance, soul-guided artillery shells still rained down relentlessly.

"A soul-guided shell!" a girl from the Star Luo Royal Academy screamed.

She had just crawled out of the wreckage, dirt and soot clinging to her.

She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the end—but the expected explosion never came.

Opening her eyes slowly, she saw only a streak of purple light.

Gu You had already activated his Martial Soul True Body, summoned his battle armor, and even unleashed his life domain.

He had timed this perfectly, intending to coordinate with Elder Cai to cut off the red mecha.

His terrifying aura shook the battlefield. Cai Yue'er and even the red mecha momentarily paused.

'What is this kid thinking?' Cai Yue'er was surprised but quickly returned her attention to the raging battle.

Apart from the red god-tier mecha, the attacking force also deployed eight black-tier mechas, over thirty purple-tier mechas, and more than a hundred yellow-tier units scattered across the city.

Their coordinated assault left the Star Luo Empire's mecha escort force struggling. Despite their decent strength, the defenders were vastly outnumbered and outgunned. They could only manage to intercept a portion of the enemy and slow down their assault.

The firepower unleashed by over a hundred mechas was utterly overwhelming. The skies became saturated with explosive energy waves.

"Boom!"

As if finally noticing Gu You, dozens of artillery shells locked onto him simultaneously.

"Just a bunch of winged fools" Gu You sneered.

He raised his right hand and casually clenched his fingers toward a lone mecha.

A strange green energy emerged and slipped silently into the enemy machine.

Inside the cockpit, the pilot was momentarily startled. But after checking himself and finding no visible injuries, he broke into laughter.

"A Soul Saint? That's it? He talks big, but this is less effective than a Soul King."

But even as he mocked, he noticed something strange—his hands were shriveling, his skin graying.

His life was draining away.

'No! No!'

His final moment was filled with panic and the horrifying realization that he was dying—completely and irreversibly.

Gu You had used a life-stealing technique to silently kill the pilot. Then, with a wave of his hand, he collected all the abandoned purple and yellow-tier mechas.

The battlefield shifted once again.

Sensing the sudden change, three black-tier mechas sprang forward, close-range weapons drawn, charging at Gu You.

He didn't even flinch.

'Good, saves me the trouble of chasing you down'

Taking out three black-tier mechas would be thrilling enough. And once they were dealt with, he could work with Cai Yue'er to crush that red god-tier mecha. If they pulled it off, he could officially announce to the world—

He, Gu You, was on the path to becoming the youngest god-tier mecha master.

The three black-tier mechas each stood nearly eight meters tall. Their designs differed greatly from those on the Douluo Continent.

The first one looked like a massive bear, towering over twelve meters, wielding a twenty-meter-long battle axe, its dark-purple shield gleaming ominously.

The second resembled a lizard, sleeker, about three meters tall. It was bristling with missile ports and tail fins designed for advanced soul energy output.

The third was a monkey-type unit, only five meters tall but incredibly nimble. It had two folded wings on its back, each equipped with multiple thrusters that gave it superior agility.

A brute, a tech-type, and a speedster.

The bear mecha charged first, axe cleaving through the air, sending a black shockwave a hundred meters wide straight toward Gu You.

By now, Gu You was already half-transformed into his dragon form.

To him, these so-called machines were no more than insects.

'You want to challenge a dragon too?'

He tapped his foot lightly.

BOOM!

The bear mecha was sent flying backward. Its protective barrier shattered in an instant.

"I'll give you one chance. If you want to live, eject from your mechas now" Gu You's dragon eyes gleamed coldly.

The pilots inside the black-tier mechas hesitated. The enemy clearly outclassed them.

A moment later, they made the only sensible choice—ejection. Better to live another day.

'They really ditched their mechas?' Gu You let out a low chuckle.

Three thin green beams flew out from his body, like phantoms.

"Wait, you tricked us! You're dishonorable!"

Their cries meant nothing to him. The beams struck cleanly. The three pilots' eyes widened in shock before collapsing in silence.

They hadn't even touched the ground before they were dead.
