Chapter 222 - Chapter 222: Cradle Robbing?

"Confidence comes from strength. If you insist on us participating, then it's not impossible—unless the championship prize is a soul bone."

Sima Lanxiao's expression changed. He was well aware of what a soul bone represented. Even twenty thousand years ago, during the cold weapon era of the Douluo Continent, soul bones were already considered ultimate treasures. In the modern day, their rarity was beyond imagination.

Soul bones came from soul beasts, but unlike soul rings which appeared with every beast, soul bones had only a one-in-a-thousand chance of forming—even from ten-thousand-year soul beasts. Only hundred-thousand-year soul beasts guaranteed soul bone drops.

Although the Star Luo Continent still had an ancient forest, it was now strictly protected by the Star Luo Federation. Hunting soul beasts within was strictly forbidden. Even if someone managed to do it, if discovered, the punishment was death.

"Elder Cai, our competition is officially called the All-Continent Youth Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament. It's divided into various categories—individual matches, team matches, mecha contests, and so on. Regarding the soul bone, only the final champion of the individual comprehensive match receives one. The team of seven champion prize is a block of soul-forged metal per person. For 2v2 matches, the reward is a ten-thousand-year soul treasure. As for the mecha event, the first place prize is a black-grade mecha, and second and third places receive purple-grade mechas. So, since we only have one soul bone available, would you..."

Cai Yue'er raised an eyebrow. She hadn't expected the Star Luo Empire's elite tournament prizes to be so generous. Not only did they include a soul bone, the other categories also offered impressive rewards.

"It does sound attractive, but your prize distribution seems a little… uneven."

Soul-forged metals, mechas, and rare herbs were all valuable, but they couldn't compare to the rarity and value of a soul bone.

Sima Lanxiao explained, "The reason the individual prize is so high is because our individual competition is known as the 'Unlimited Challenge'. In that arena, all means are permitted—mechas, battle armor, martial souls, soul tools—everything goes. Participants must also sign life-and-death waivers. Only with truly valuable prizes can we attract top contenders. The individual match is the most important of all."

This contrasted with the Douluo Continent, where the seven-on-seven team battle was the main form of competition. Here, personal heroism was clearly more celebrated.

"What are the participation restrictions?" Cai Yue'er asked plainly.

Sima Lanxiao brightened, sensing her interest. "Under twenty years old. No other restrictions. Especially for Shrek Academy's students."

"Very well," Cai Yue'er replied with a single word.

Aboard the luxurious soul train, everyone enjoyed the scenery unique to the Star Luo Empire.

Compared to the bustling and mechanized Douluo Continent, the Star Luo Continent felt much more primitive. Its development lagged far behind its counterpart.

Even the soul train's speed was noticeably slower. Outside the window, forests and lakes passed by in abundance. The air was so clean that one could see incredibly far. Occasionally, they passed towns, and even with a glance, it was clear how far behind they were in modernization.

Food on the Star Luo Continent wasn't much different from that of the Douluo side. To accommodate their honored guests, the train provided a feast.

Sightseeing while eating gourmet food—this kind of relaxed travel was unprecedented for most of them. Ever since joining Shrek Academy, they hadn't experienced such ease.

In the same carriage with them sat members of the Star Luo Royal Academy's delegation. Everyone shared the same train car now.

There had been friction between both sides when boarding the ship, but after the voyage, familiarity grew. No serious conflicts had broken out.

Each table sat four, two on each side with a small table between them.

At this moment, Gu You was indulging himself in a feast.

On the Royal Academy side, a few students kept glancing at Gu You's table.

"That guy really can eat," a girl whispered. "He's kind of cute, too."

Across from her, another girl chuckled. "Zhenzhen, are you thinking of robbing the cradle? He's at least four or five years younger than us. And don't forget, he's Shrek's team captain. Did you see his dragon form during the sea soul beast siege? He looked like a Dragon King. Insanely strong."

"Wasn't that his Martial Soul Avatar?"

"Don't be ridiculous—he's too young to have a seventh soul skill. Don't boost their morale while killing our own. Our captain's already Rank 55, and he's got a full one-word battle armor set."

"Look! What's that?" someone from the Royal Academy cried in alarm.

Everyone turned to look.

"Aren't those mechas?"

But before they could react, light points lit up all over the incoming mechas.

Just then, Cai Yue'er—who had been resting with her eyes closed—suddenly opened her eyes, turning sharply to the window.

"Not friendly!" she said coldly.

A chill erupted from her forward seat. In the next moment, a gleam of cold light swept across the train carriage's ceiling.

With a deafening crack, the carriage roof was torn open, and howling wind rushed in.

Wu Zhangkong shot into the sky, his two-word battle armor appearing in a flash. His ice-blue soul power wrapped around everyone to protect them—including the Royal Academy students.

A series of massive explosions rang out.

Using his Purple Demon Eyes, Gu You saw it all. Shells from soul cannons rained down on the train. Over a hundred mechas were attacking. Leading them was a red mecha—unlike Mu Ye's, this one was shaped like a crimson hawk with wings fully spread and moved at blinding speed. In a flash, it was already above the train.

The train cars began to overturn from the blasts. Flames erupted, and debris flew in all directions.

This soul train carried many delegates from the Douluo Continent. Though they had dispersed after arriving at the coastal city, nearly half were headed to Star Luo City—meaning they were all on this train.

But then, a strange sight appeared.

Layers of silver light spread through the overturning train. The exploding flames rapidly dimmed, and the soul train…
