Ava smiled and approached her with confidence; her college high heels were cracking, making stepping noises with each locomotion of her feet as she made her way towards her, "Yaren, how's it going?"
Yaren, with blonde hair, looked at her with disapproval, staring before her mouth started to move, "You can't talk to my friends, yet you can talk to Henry, and now almost everyone who's involved with him is freaking out about him?"
Ava puts on a shrug, "Well, that makes us even, you had a boyfriend with the kindest personality, and then I have a provider who will introduce me to luxury." Ava starts playing with her high heels as if she wants to twirl.
She's like rocking back and forth on the Yaren project with vindication, "Oh, so you finally put the manipulative books that lay waste on your floor into good use now? Oh, okay, I see."
Ava pinched her own chin and justified her unusual collection, "Oh, that, it's for intellectual reasons, I just got fascinated with humans. You know me, I am just a girl trying to understand herself and the people she sees. Come on, you know I am a baby when it comes to socializing."
Yaren, with her brown eyes and her blonde hair in a ponytail, looks at her dismissively, "Is that your glow up now? Do you really want to humiliate yourself and be someone else in a beauty pageant or a concert?"
Ava dismisses her with unseriousness as she flaps her hand, "Oh! You are just being petty! I can't even socialize with your friends, who keep talking about useless things. Oh look, I get to have an opportunity to have luxury and autonomy just by being with someone."
Ava makes a prayer as her eyes look up and says, "Someone who finally appreciates and will introduce me to a new world."
Yaren cringed, her other eyes twitching, and her other eyes stayed open with her biting her own teeth, holding it back, "You are on a whole new level of naivety. I know you're naive or stupid regarding stuff, but…. I didn't think it would lead to something like this."
Ava became reactive, "Uhmm, okay fine, we both can admit that he is a playboy, but he offered something to me I can't resist." Yaren began to assume, "Let me guess, luxury and stuff? Or components, he really had you on a spell, sis."
Ava began to doze off, "Right on spot, he is more than just an elite."
Ava blushes up and said nothing, where she giggled, "Heheheheheheehehe"
Yaren said, "Whatever, Ava, I hope you take care of yourself."
Yaren then grabs her phone and shows it to Ava, showing Ava in her vulnerable state, blouse soaked in water, while sitting in one of his limousine chairs.
Ava reacted, "Oh come on, it's not much of a big deal, I thought she was interested in having my picture," as she flapped her hands; however, a flicker of disgust seeped into her eyes.
Ava shrugged her hands, "It's not a big deal, Yaren. It's just how the game works."
"He is insecure… And he is desperate for my attention?"
"You don't understand?! Do you?" Yaren hastens her speech.
Ava straightens herself, where she looks at Yaren trying to defuse the situation, "Okay, fine… I don't really like what he did there, him picturing me - he said I was a work of art."
"That adoration is enough to make me blush, but he tricked me. But a transaction is a transaction; besides, I am not going to have a controversy over myself, it's going to be handed to him instead."
Yaren's face contorted to perceptible disgust and confusion, "Huh."
"Stop justifying your sin. Ava," she blurted out coldly.
"Okay, maybe I was drinking yesterday after days ago when", Ava confessed as she held her own arm in shame.
"I couldn't integrate into your friend circle…"
Soon, Yaren waved her head, it was full of judgment, her eyes were cold as she turned around and walked away, "Well then… Take care of yourself, and do not ever bring yourself to me. Because this is the end of our friendship, you arrogant narcissistic trash."
Ava's eyes widened as she reached for Yaren's shoulder from behind and said, "Wait, what's going on? Why are you leaving me, Yaren?" with terror.
Yaren turned around and slapped Ava's hand with a scathing comment, "You are not the Ava I thought I knew, independent, intelligent, the most stellar student. You are something worse, a whore - I don't accept miseries in my world."
Yaren furrowed her eyebrows and called out to her, "You are an obstacle!"
"Those good looks and that gifted brain, they can be used for something else."
Yaren bites her teeth, and her hand pointed at Ava, "And you, with your pretentious, miscalculated use of power, did the most illogical thing possible. Those gifts should have been mine, alone to possess, for they are not just for entertaining oneself, they are the pavement of something fruitful."
Yaren bowed her head, "At least I envision what a person of your gifts would use it for, but for you… You are a disgrace!"
Where Yaren walked away.
"Well, I am sorry, I didn't use my gifts properly. Come on, Yaren. I am still pretty useful, at least I use my intellect outside of academia."
"Come on, we can talk about your insecurity, remember the book I gave you?" Ava reassures her with a fading yet hopeful smile
Yaren slows herself, looking away from Ava with sadness in her smile, "No, Ava. I am scared of what you might become. And I don't know if I can be there to support you, it's like - it's like you decided to finally put the books scattered around your floor into nefarious use"
Yaren looked at Ava one last time with solemn sadness and an inferiority complex, "And.. I don't know how to deal with that. I can't be your friend anymore."
"And", Yaren slowly closed her eyes and finished it, "Making deals with Henry is proof of the fruit you are growing for something so malevolent."
"You shouldn't be apologizing; I should be the one to apologize," where Yaren shook her head and walked away.
"I am inferior to you, and that's a fact. If I stay with you, you will drop me and reach heights. That's why I think it's logical for my sanity that I break from you."
"Goodbye, Ava," as she walked away, about to disappear from the imagined mist that Ava intangibly felt.
Ava froze herself, completely defeated, and said, "So that's it then!"
"I hate you, Yaren, fine, I will use my gifts, yet tell me, Yaren, if I am so pretty? Why couldn't I integrate with your friend groups?"
To which Yaren stopped without looking and answered, "I don't really think you are integrating; they are just not worth your time or mine. Maybe we are just more different now," before walking away
Ava stood there, frozen, watching Yaren disappear into the mist. She was in a flight situation - suddenly, she felt even more confused.
"So this is it then, I am alone."
"This is my life now, one I carved through my own hands"
before sitting on the bench.
"I am no worse than a whore" she smiled as her eyes began to darken in emptiness.
"I don't care about anything anymore; they can think of me as some pathetic, sleazy person."
Ava looked in the direction, and she spoke with Yaren one last time before she finally disappeared like a ghost.
"I.. I wish I could cherish my life with you again, Yaren, just one last time before my fall from grace. We could be together if it weren't for my recklessness, but alas, the grand tapestry had me accursed."
As her eyes were in tears, she finally felt emotions for the first time when she touched her own chest. Trying to hold herself from crying, they close their eyes.
Soon, she finally calmed down from crying, not wanting to use her mind interface to connect to the network, she pulled out her phone and checked InterChat, and from within the view of the phone, it's clear her profile picture is that of a cartoon cat head.
"I can't go to lectures now, I want time for myself. My feelings cannot be computed."
She felt even betrayed when she discovered Yaren had already unfriended her; she rolled into a ball on the bench. Her only friend on social media
"Survival it is, and thriving. There is no turning back from this anymore. This is my decision to enter a world of colors and experience"
Ava then clenched her fists and looked up, trying to look hopeful, but the glimmer of childishness was missing in her irises, "You know what, screw that, I will do what makes me feel fulfilled. Maybe university life isn't for me."
"I need to get Henry into contact, might need him for that," before standing up and leaving the school completely.
"Ehh, I will just find him," she declares, tears finally fade from her eyes.
