Chapter 103 - Stupid Tenant and Stupid Landlord

Let's not talk about Kasa Eben's situation. Kevin had now successfully entered the warehouse. Before him lay an empty room.

"It was so easy to get in." Kevin shook off the glass shards on his body, still a little incredulous. When he saw the black fog lingering on the second floor of the warehouse, he had thought it would be a difficult entry. He hadn't expected the werewolf fog to be within his "magic immunity" range. If he had known it would be so easy to get in, he should have acted sooner. All his previous efforts to grit his teeth and stomp his feet in determination had been wasted. The data terminal had floated in at some point and was now swaying up and down beside him, its surface emitting a faint blue light. "According to our radar, the target individual is not in this room."

Kevin glanced at the empty room and slipped the data terminal into his pocket. "Nonsense! Anyone with eyes can see it."

Kevin put the data terminal away, confirmed that his rigid shields were saturated, and tiptoed to the door, preparing to quietly go out and see what was going on.

With a creak, the old wooden door slowly slid open, revealing an open corridor.

The warehouse had a simple structure, consisting of two floors. The lower floor was a large storage room, occupying more than two-thirds of the building's height. The upper floor, while tiered, consisted only of a duty room, offices, and dormitories along the west wall. This row of rooms was essentially suspended on steel beams, while the space beneath them housed the warehouse's various equipment and handling machinery. Aside from what had already been moved, the remaining space was essentially just scrap metal. The open corridor before Kevin connected all the rooms on the second floor of the warehouse. On one side, a neat row of doors stood, while the other, barren except for a railing, offered a direct view of the open space below. It was pitch black, illuminated only by sunlight filtering through a few large, dilapidated holes in the warehouse's roof. Within that limited illumination, he could clearly see the black fog swirling and covering the ground. The two werewolves had truly fortified the area impenetrably. It seemed someone had even considered digging a hole; for someone like Kevin, "magic-immune," that was a complete surprise.

The rows of doors before him were all sealed by black fog, but Kevin knew it wouldn't block sound. He lowered his voice and called out to each one, "Lily... Lily. Hear a reply!"

No reply finally filled Kevin with worry, and he decided to take the simplest approach: break down the doors.

Most of the doors were locked, rusted shut, or nailed shut, so Kevin had to break them down one by one. This certainly made a lot of noise, but he couldn't care less at the moment. Kevin's brute force swung the shabby, fragile door open, and the eerie black mist, like a mere decoration, dissipated as the door opened. Kevin smashed through four or five rooms in a row, finally spotting the idiotic werewolf halfway through.

In a room that had clearly been recently cleaned, Lily lay motionless on a small bed, seemingly unconscious.

Seeing this, Kevin felt his heart skip a beat. He practically charged forward: "Lily! Lily, how are you?! Lily, hurry up... You idiot, you can even fall asleep in this situation?!"

Lily groggily opened her eyes and, upon seeing Kevin, gave a goofy smile: "Landlord, you're here?"

Kevin: "...Do you know what's going on?"

Lily pricked up her ears to listen to the noise outside: "Oh, bats are fighting people?"

Kevin found it difficult to have a serious conversation with a Husky, so he could only offer a gentle reminder: "You're still sleeping at this hour..."

"Because it's nap time."

"..."

At that moment, Kevin finally remembered his recent business trip to England. The amazing werewolf girl had an extraordinary knack for sleeping at designated times. She would close her eyes and fall asleep as soon as it was time to sleep. In extreme circumstances, she could even sleep upright while snoring. She relied on her sense of smell to follow the team from London to Brussels... When faced with a Husky with such an extreme biological clock, anything you said brought tears to your eyes... "Okay. Never mind that," Kevin sighed, dragging Lily out of bed and examining her from head to toe. He confirmed the idiot wasn't injured. "Are you awake? Did they give you any trouble?"

"No," Lily pointed to the small table in the corner, where six lunch boxes lay. "They even bought me food. The first time wasn't enough, so they bought more. Actually, aside from their insanity, they're quite polite."

Kevin: "..." He suddenly felt the urge to rush out and stop Vivian from bullying innocent people. What could he do?

Lily was now fully awake and in better shape than ever. Kevin had already broken the black fog blocking the door, so the two of them planned to go out and reunite with Vivian. Once the three of them were together, they could let Kasa Eben do whatever he wanted. There would be plenty of time to sort things out by then. But things weren't destined to go smoothly. Just as Kevin and Lily jumped from the small second-floor room to the first floor of the warehouse, a cloud of black mist howled in from nearby, blocking their path.

The black mist coalesced several meters away, transforming into a lean, male werewolf about the same height as Kevin, though appearing slightly smaller.

This was the "two psychos" Lily had mentioned on the phone, psychopath number two (as Lily called him).

This werewolf was very different from Kasar Eben. He wasn't as imposing, but his transformation was just as imposing (and equally unsightly). This werewolf emerged from the black mist, panting heavily, blocking Kevin and Lily's path. Although he tried to appear imposing, he looked utterly shabby: his coat clung to him like a rag, his head and face were covered in blood, and his exposed arms bore visible signs of corrosion and burns. Seeing this, Kevin immediately understood why Kasa Ai had been able to swiftly escape the blood mist clone and appear before him and Vivian so quickly: selling out his teammates.

"Where are you going?" the thin werewolf glanced back and forth between Kevin and Lily, finally landing on Lily. "Have you been bewitched by the vampires?!"

"No," Lily said confidently. "I want to go home. I've told you so many times, but you wouldn't listen. Now I'm in trouble! My landlord's here to pick me up!"

"Landlord?" the thin werewolf stared at Kevin, slowly taking his breaths. "He came with the vampires... So that's why Kasa and I thought you were mentally ill, thinking you were a disabled child. It turns out you've been controlled by the vampires. Don't worry. Once Kasa takes care of that female vampire outside, I'll take care of this guy, and you'll wake up..." Kevin felt the situation was in unprecedented chaos. Seeing the skinny werewolf glaring at him, he could only adopt a defensive stance, feeling both amused and helpless. "Well, there must be a misunderstanding...outside as well. If that Kasa had been more polite, maybe he and Vivian wouldn't have gotten into a fight. Put your claws down, and let's talk..."

There was no way anyone would try to negotiate with him at this point. The skinny werewolf didn't even listen to him. With a roar, he lunged at him, claws brandished!

Kevin wasn't naive enough to believe that negotiation was truly possible in this situation. He'd just been saying something to relieve his stress. Seeing his opponent lunge at him, his reflexes, activated in the dream plane, immediately kicked in. He raised his hand to block the blow in the nick of time, then delivered a punch to the enemy's face.

A sharp, teeth-grinding "swish" sounded from Kevin's arm as the werewolf's claws clenched against the rigid shield, sending sparks flying. The skinny werewolf had probably never seen a strange, light-like film, stronger than steel, appear on anyone in his entire life. He felt as if he were clawing at a solid block of diamond. His claws nearly snapped as a fist the size of a casserole pot smashed into his face.

With a loud bang, the skinny werewolf, already severely injured and with little fighting power left, was sent flying by Kevin's brute force.

Kevin breathed a sigh of relief, slowly retracted his fist, and stared at the direction his foe was being sent flying. He spoke quietly, "Oh my god, I'm so scared..."

The data terminal floated out of his pocket. "Don't you think it's a bit inappropriate to say that with such a gesture?"

Kevin sighed, "...I was just posing. I forgot to think of the words, and just blurted out what was really on my mind."
