"Bang!" "Sizzle!"
A violent collision sounded, followed by a sharp tearing of air. The battle between the werewolf and the vampire continued, and it had reached a point where Kevin could no longer intervene, not even with a sniper's gun.
Vivian still held the upper hand. With her bat wings flapping, she soared through the air, relying on her bat swarm and the terrifying blood mist to overwhelm Kasa'aiben. Her combined advantage in flight and range made her invincible. Although Kasa'aiben was at a disadvantage, he seemed unlikely to be defeated. The black mist surrounding the werewolf could resist Vivian's blood mist, and even if accidentally injured, he could recover in the blink of an eye. The werewolf's immense strength and regenerative abilities seemed to have no end, and he and Vivian were locked in a stalemate.
But Kasa'aiben's confusion grew more and more uncontrollable as the battle continued: Vivian seemed much weaker than he had imagined, not at all as formidable as described in the family records. The Eben family had long ago dealt with Vivian. When that long-lived vampire roamed the world, he had some contact with virtually every "abnormal" on the planet. Although those aberrant families have mostly vanished, the remaining ones still keep records of Vivian. Casa Eben learned of the strange title "Countess Who Brings the Blood Moon" in the family records and knew that this was a figure his ancestors feared. To have such fear in the werewolf clans of their heyday, to the point of leaving a record of her, meant she was no ordinary person. Casa Eben had even fought Vivian with the intention of dying a heroic death.
But when he discovered that a young man, less than three hundred years old, could match the vampire countess who claimed to have lived for tens of thousands of years, he suddenly wondered if he had made a mistake. Was this truly one of those ageless monsters? However, his hesitation didn't distract Kasa'aiben from the battle. He knew clearly that even if the Countess before him didn't match the historical records, she was undoubtedly superior to him.
Kevin knew nothing of Vivian's glorious past, and he had no way of intervening in the battle between the two super-beings. He observed the situation, confirmed that Kasa'aiben was already entangled by the vampire girl and would be unable to cause trouble for him any time soon, and then took action on his own.
He looked up at the outer wall of the nearby warehouse. From 10 meters above the ground, he could see a row of windows shrouded in black mist. Logically, the fighting on Vivian's side was so intense that even Lily, even with her slow reaction, should have been aware of their arrival. But the fact that the idiot hadn't forced her way out only meant that there was something fishy about the black mist, and Lily couldn't escape on her own.
The phone call was disconnected, so Kevin decided to try to climb in and see what was going on. There was a reason he decided to scale the wall directly instead of going around to the warehouse's front or back entrances. The other werewolf hadn't appeared yet, so he might be waiting at one of the doorways for the "vampire's accomplices" to fall into his trap. He figured climbing in through the window might be safer. Furthermore, Vivian was there to watch over him, so he'd have backup if anything went wrong. Rushing elsewhere would likely mean facing another werewolf in a one-on-one fight, and honestly, Kevin, with his limited combat experience, was quite unsure.
The warehouse's exterior wall was smooth, offering no grip, and the lower half was covered in a thick layer of ice. But none of this fazed him. Kevin stretched his arms and legs, tapping twice to test its hardness. Then, gritting his teeth and stamping his feet, he tried to imagine himself as a martial arts master. With a "hey!", he used his hand as a knife and plunged his fingers into the steel and concrete wall!
The pain was unbearable. But surprisingly, he actually succeeded. His finger pierced the concrete wall like a tofu, and apparently, no bones or blood were broken. Aside from the pain, his move was no different from the martial arts masters on TV. Kevin attributed the pain to an imbalance in his physical enhancements (a mismatch between his senses and his limbs), so he steeled his resolve and, grimacing, climbed towards the window. He soon reached halfway up when he heard a series of roars from the direction of Casa Eben. Clearly, the werewolf had noticed his movements, but Vivian gave him no chance to escape, so all he could do was roar. The other werewolf hadn't appeared yet, and Kevin was curious about what it was doing. However, the most important thing right now was to deal with the black fog shrouding the window. He continued to advance along the wall, the pain from his fingers constantly digging into the concrete gradually numbing. Soon, he reached the first window. The data terminal floated out of his pocket and hovered near the black fog, saying seriously, "Stupid, does your hand hurt? Remember your rigid shield?"
Kevin: "..."
If his finger hadn't been stuck in the wall and couldn't be pulled out immediately, he would have fallen right there!
"Why the hell didn't you say that earlier!"
"Who knew you were so stupid?"
Kevin felt like he must be the first person on Earth to argue with his PDA all day long. Not only that, he couldn't even win the argument... It was a sad thought, no matter how he thought about it. "It's okay, it's okay. Normal Earthlings don't usually have high-tech gadgets like shields," Kevin consoled himself as he activated his rigid shield. "I'm just not used to it. Once I get used to it, you'll see. I even pick my nose with the shield on!"
The data terminal clattered to the windowsill and fell silent, perhaps too embarrassed to continue talking to Kevin.
"Lily!" Kevin, clinging to the outer wall like Spider-Man, shouted at the window at the top of his lungs, "Where are you?!"
Of course, his shout received no response.
"What the hell is this black fog?" Kevin had already reached the window. The inky black smoke swirled just inches in front of him. Not only did it completely block the window, it was clearly seeping into the warehouse's outer wall. Looking closely, one could see tiny traces of smoke seeping through the cracks in the concrete. It seemed the entire second floor of the warehouse was sealed off by the smoke, and that was probably why Lily was trapped. After all, with that idiotic werewolf's brute strength, blasting through the concrete wall wouldn't be a problem. Even Kevin could dig through reinforced concrete with his bare hands, so there was no reason Lily couldn't.
But Kevin quickly noticed something: even though the entire second floor of the warehouse was sealed by black fog, his fingers still easily penetrated the concrete exterior.
"Tsk... Is it that 'magic immunity' again?" Kevin looked curiously at the concrete wall, covered in a thin layer of mist. He reached out and tapped the wall twice, and some concrete blocks were easily dug away.
The black fog seemed to be nonexistent.
This reminded him of the Leta runes he had seen in the basement of Yofold Castle. It seemed that the werewolf's black fog, like those runes, had no effect on Kevin.
"Let's go for it." Kevin looked at the fog-shrouded window before him, held his breath, closed his eyes, and lunged inside. "Bang, crash!"
"Fuck! The window's closed!"
The crackling of glass also alerted Kasa'aiben, who was struggling with Vivian. He was shocked to see that the man who had been acting strangely had actually penetrated his black fog blockade and entered the warehouse!
The werewolf instinctively exclaimed, "What the hell..."
Kasa'aiben had noticed Kevin, who had appeared with Vivian, before, but Kevin had never participated in the battle and didn't seem particularly powerful. Furthermore, the immense pressure from Vivian kept him distracted, so he didn't take him too seriously. Even when he saw Kevin climbing towards the second floor of the warehouse, he assumed the entire second floor was sealed off by black fog and wasn't overly concerned. But what happened now completely reframed Kasa'aiben's perspective.
If his black fog blockade had been broken by brute force or skill, it would have been fine, and he would have been convinced. But now... how could he have just gotten in?! He just walked in like nothing had happened!
