Chapter 96 - Strange Stranger

If Kevin remembers correctly, this is the third time Lily and Vivian have destroyed furniture since they arrived. It's nice that the wolf girl pays the rent honestly, and the vampire girl is also a good cook, but can they control their destructive power? Lily picked up her claw and huddled back down on the sofa, looking embarrassed. Vivian sighed, "You pay for it yourself. I don't have any money."

Lily's brains seemed to work for once, and she protested, "Where's your sense of honor as a vampire?"

Vivian spread her hands, "I have a sense of honor, but I just don't have any money."

Kevin looked at the new table he had just replaced two days ago with a look of distress. Listening to the impoverished vampire's desperate words, he could only sigh half-heartedly, "Forget it. I'll go back and file a report with Raven. Maybe I can get it reimbursed."

The two superheroes were delighted. Vivian gave up trying to figure out what was wrong with Lily's claw and went back to her chores, while Lily enthusiastically studied her new weapon.

Two or three days passed in a flash.

Lily's mindset had indeed adjusted quickly. The devastating revelation of her "Husky origin" only troubled her for less than a day. The next morning, Kevin saw the wolf girl emerge from her room in high spirits and begin foraging. He knew the usual innocent, cheerful, and silly girl had returned.

From this, Kevin and the other two concluded their future experience: Lily is someone who doesn't need any worrying. Even this life-shattering event hasn't had much of an impact on her, so what's there to worry about in the future? People without teeth don't get toothaches, and people without a clear mind probably don't get mental illnesses... Worrying about a husky is just pointless. After confirming Lily's recovery, everyone in the rental house returned to their daily routines. Kevin sauntered through the day as usual, taking on the responsibility of going out for groceries. Y'zaks continued to study the local culture of this planet, striving to assimilate quickly (which, considering his face, might be a challenge). Lily settled into a routine of writing at home on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and treating stray dogs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Vivian, in addition to taking care of the house, took on a new responsibility: as a veteran, she began to guide Lily, allowing the wolf girl to slowly discover her new powers, primarily to see if she could solve the problem of her transformation ruining her clothes...

Kevin's opinion: Let them do whatever they want, as long as they don't tear down the house.

Today marks the third day since Lily's transformation, and Kevin needs to go out and do some shopping. The weather is getting colder, and the recent forecast calls for several days of rain, bringing a significant drop in temperature across the city. Kevin needs to buy some groceries to bring home. He didn't dare bring Y'zaks along this time. Although the Archdemon was eager to help, he figured... he'd better wait a few days until the people on the street got used to Y'zaks's face. Otherwise, if they went out together, some would think Kevin had been kidnapped by a fugitive...

At the intersection, Kevin came face-to-face with a tall foreigner.

He was a burly man, nearly 1.9 meters tall, wearing a thick trench coat and curly black hair. His nationality was unclear (Kevin hadn't seen enough foreigners in his life; he only knew British people), but his gray-blue eyes made a lasting impression. Kevin had initially passed him by, but because he was so striking in every way, he subconsciously took a second look.

In this small area of the southern suburbs, foreigners were as rare as wild giant pandas. In fact, Kevin doubted whether there had been any foreigners there since the founding of the People's Republic of China. The few people in his family who didn't even have "human citizenship" didn't count. Kevin, after all, had seen even aliens, so he didn't pay much attention to the tall, imposing foreigner before him. He simply stared at him for a few moments and then tried to walk away. But just as he took a step, the foreigner spoke, "Wait a moment."

The accent was a bit strange, but still perfectly fluent.

"So, you want to ask for directions?" Kevin glanced curiously at the Chinese-speaking foreigner. "My name is Kasa Aiben," the stranger in front of him seemed quite proactive and enthusiastic. He extended his hand to shake Kevin's. "I'm a small businessman, and I'm here to do business. I'd like to ask where you register foreigners?"

Kevin shook the man's hand, thinking that this "small businessman" had quite a strong grip. Then he thought for a moment, "Then I'll probably have to go to the police station... Walk to the end of this street, turn left, and then walk to the end. But they may not be able to handle it, so you might want to go downtown."

"Oh, thank you," the tall man who called himself Kasa Aiben said with a smile, but he continued to hold Kevin's hand tightly. And for some reason, he kept sniffing and inhaling as he spoke, as if he were smelling Kevin. Kevin felt goosebumps on his back and shook him off. "Haha... You're welcome, you're welcome." Kasaiben smiled nonchalantly, brushing past Kevin's shoulder as he walked in the other direction. As they passed, he took another deep breath and uttered a cryptic, "Good luck."

Kevin finally breathed a sigh of relief after the man was out of sight. He felt goosebumps surging down his back, completely ruining the good mood he'd had when he left. Intuitively, he thought the man was gay...

This morning's encounter had left Kevin feeling rather uneasy. He hurriedly made his purchases and headed home. The moment he opened the door, he saw Vivian and Lily busy "practicing their new weapon": a large amount of raw lamb was spread on the table. Lily used her ice claws to harden the lamb, then cracked it into small pieces. They then grilled it on the fire claws, while Vivian sprinkled the seasoning on the side...

This was obviously difficult to master, and there were many failures, but Vivian remained enthusiastic and confident. "Go for it! Once you master the process, you'll definitely be faster than those kebab vendors on the street. Then we'll go sell the kebabs on the street, and you can just grill them inside. I'll be rich soon... Hey, landlord, are you back?"

"Can't you two do something worthy of your race?" Kevin stepped forward and rubbed Lily's head, adding, "Oh, Lily is very much like her status, but can't you consider your dignity as a vampire?"

Lily didn't even flinch when someone rubbed her head, instead rubbing it vigorously. "I think Bat's idea is great. She might be annoying, but she's smart... But landlord, why do you keep rubbing my head these past few days?"

Kevin quickly withdrew his hand, thinking that since learning Lily's identity, he's developed many new habits that he can't stop!

"Oh, today's such a bad day," Kevin noticed Vivian looking at him strangely. To prevent her from making any more strange assumptions, he quickly changed the subject. "Just after leaving the house, I ran into this bear-looking foreign fag..."

It would have been fine if he hadn't changed the subject, but the change even made Lily's eyes beside him look a little strange. "Landlord, have you decided to start a new life?"

Kevin was horrified to find that Lily's eyes, despite their subtlety, held a suspiciously fiery glint. He subconsciously distanced himself from the idiot. "What's that look... I'm telling you, I'm perfectly normal..."

Lily sighed in disappointment. "Huh? I thought I'd have some new material."

Kevin felt a cold sweat break out: This artistic young woman's creative range seemed quite wide! Luckily, Vivian was a respectable and kind girl, and didn't follow Lily's lead and steer the conversation in a strange direction. She was simply curious: "Tell me, I've never seen a foreigner come to this place."

"Oh, that's what happened..." Kevin casually recounted what happened that morning, and ended up feeling a bit puzzled. "That guy spoke Chinese quite well, so he must have spent quite a while in China. How come he didn't even know where to register as a foreigner?"

"Casa Eben?" Vivian was slightly concerned by the strange name. She frowned slightly, as if recalling something unpleasant, but quickly shook her head. "Probably a coincidence."

Kevin glanced at Vivian curiously. "Do you know that name?"

"I know about the Eben family," Vivian shrugged. "But the last I heard about them was over a hundred years ago. They were a group of werewolves, secretly working on some kind of racial revival plan. They were quite troublesome. But they mainly operated in Europe and Latin America. There werewolves in Asia, so they wouldn't come." Although Vivian's tone was dismissive, Kevin immediately took it to heart: Based on his experience with Raven 12345, which had been a source of constant trouble, he felt like he might be getting scammed again...
