Betrayal, helplessness, and sadness, he felt it all. There was a sting in his heart as he watched Ryn walk through the portal, and it grew as the portal closed.
So many questions clouded his thoughts. Was he not enough? Why does he always have to be the other choice?
All his life, he had thought maybe seeking validation from others would make them choose him first, but none had ever done that.
Not even Ryn, whom he had opened up to.
He barely had time to process the ache before Kael's voice roared through the silence.
"Where the hell did you send him off?" Kael snarled. "I am not done with him!" He raised his hand and hurled a blast of flames towards Veyr.
