Chapter 49 - Danjin

"...Finally, I've arrived at the dock of Ragunna." The red haired swordsman muttered to herself as she witnessed the joyful atmosphere of the city.

Simply passing through the gate, more and more stalls greeted her presence.

Stall owners were screaming their hearts out trying to attract tourist, children were running around, playing with many different variants of Echoes. Something rarely seen happening inside Huanglong.

As it turns out, the place really does stands its reputation as the City of Echoes.

Since there are still quite a long time before the Carnevale started, Danjin thought of renting a place but decided against it as she'd much prefer camping out in the wild.

She's quite used to it after all.

"...Oh? It seems like another visitor had arrived." As Danjin was about to move, a voice seemingly pointed toward her appeared.

Turning towards the sound, she spotted a silver haired lady in a red dress, elegance oozing out of her every movement.

"Hello, it is a pleasure to have met you." The silver haired girl said as she approached with a bow.

"...Hm, nice to meet you too." Danjin replied.

"My apologies for taking your time, but you... don't happen to have a small black haired girl as your partner, do you?"

"Excuse me?"

"Ah, that was a slip of tongue. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Carlotta Montelli, the second daughter of the Montelli Family."

"Carlotta Montelli? Sounds familiar... My name is Danjin. I am affiliated with the Midnight Rangers from Jinzhou."

"Yes, I know. Speaking of which, are you looking forward to the Carnevale that's about to take place soon?"

"I guess so, yeah. While that is not my main reason for visiting Rinascita, I do want to feel the festive atmosphere."

"In that case, you've visited just at the right time. There is no time more festive inside Solaris 3 as there is during the Carnevale. I do wish you'd enjoy your time here."

As Carlotta initiated the conversation, Danjin realized that she was being led around in their talk. But that didn't really mean much as that would just mean that she really doesn't know much about Rinascita.

Besides, this Carlotta doesn't seem to have another intent in talking to her.

"Have you had your afternoon lunch yet?" Carlotta inquired.

"No, I was just about to visit one of the restaurants nearby."

"In that case... I would recommend the Trattoria Margherita. Her dishes are absolutely out of this world, even when compared to my own personal chef. As what you would expect from a culinary genius."

"Such high praises. In that case, I'll visit her then. Thank you for your recommendation."

"Hm. Hopefully you'll put in good words about me to her..."

"What was that?"

"Nothing, just talking to myself, that's all."

"Anyways, I've taken enough of your time today. When the time comes, we shall meet again. Then, this is a farewell."

"Oh. Thank you then. See ya."

Danjin watched as the silver haired girl turned around and disappeared amongst the crowd.

'A peculiar person. But not a bad one.' Was her first impression.

As fate would have it, Danjin felt like she'd meet her again later down the line.

Danjin asked around about the location of the Trattoria Margherita to the residents.

After getting her answers, she visited the restaurant, and it was as packed as you would expect.

It took her half and hour just to get a seat of her own.

Fortunately, the food was delicious, much better than anything she had ever eaten.

It seems like she's got a new favorite dining spot.

With her belly full, she made her way towards the Order of the Deep.

A religious beliefs that covers the entirety of Ragunna. Well, she's just going there to visit, nothing much.

[Wuthering Waves]

"...Well, isn't this surprising."

Somehow, she's made her way into a secret garden, where she'd found an elevator-like confessional just sitting out in the open.

Seeing as to how there were no Acolyte or Priest trying to stop her, it seems like this place should be accessible to everyone.

Entering the confessional, a robotic asked her some questions. She answered them and the confessional began to move up.

As it stopped at the peak, the door opened and she was greeted by a bunch of lit and unlit candle.

She walked forward and she noticed that the sun was about to set.

'I'm going to need to set up my tent real quick.'

She descended the mountain and quickly made her way towards the forest, where resources are most abundant.

This way, she would have to worry about firewood and such.

As she walked around, trying to find the perfect place to put her temporary shelter, she took notice of a ruined building made of white bricks.

With the sounds of Tacet Discords fighting near it, she hid behind a wall, trying to make out what was going on.

She peeked behind the wall and noticed a floating eye with a hat and an orb with scissors-like limb fighting one another.

"...Hm, that's not a fight I'm willing to take right now. I'll just leave them be." She muttered to herself as she silently made her way away from the two aggressive Tacet Discords.

After walking around for another half an hour she found a small house.

Although she hadn't planned on living inside it, if it were abandoned, then she could really use it as a temporary shelter.

She could just build her tent tomorrow instead.

Knocking on the door, she waited a few seconds for a responses before knocking again.

This action was repeated a couple of times until Danjin was certain that nobody was living in here.

She gently opened the door and make out the surrounding.

As expected, the house was abandoned.

The window was opened, allowing the moonlight to lit up the surrounding.

Most of the furniture were eaten by mites, practically standing on their last leg.

'...Not the worst place I've taken shelter in.'

This place will make do for now.

With that in mind, she closed the entrance door shut.
