Aria's POV
"I'll be heading to my pack to bring my wolves here," Alpha Draven's eyes glinted as he spoke, his gaze flickering over me with an unreadable weight.
My breath caught. I had only just learned that Alpha Kael had been summoned away by his parents—parents I didn't even know existed—and since then, he hadn't come to see me. His absence already unsettled me. Now Draven was talking about leaving too?
I opened my mouth to protest, but Thorne's voice slid in before I could release the words.
"I will as well," he declared, his tone firm. "If we're to have any hope of protecting you from your ex-mate, I'll need to move my wild wolves north."
My chest tightened. "Do you both have to leave at the same time?" The words flew out before I could leash them back.
Fear tugged at me. Why did they both have to leave now? And why leave me behind as if I were nothing but baggage to be protected?
